Who's the Worst Actor on Television, Not Counting Soaps?

So who is it? Who's the worst actor on television today. I'm curious to know what you guys think.

by Anonymousreply 17404/27/2015

The brunette Broke Girl.

by Anonymousreply 103/03/2013

Tyler Posey - Teen Wolf

by Anonymousreply 203/03/2013

That black kid who breathes through his mouth on 90102

by Anonymousreply 303/03/2013

Oh, well if we can include actresses then it's clearly Zosia Mamet. I really like Girls and Mad Men and she's been completely awful on both.

by Anonymousreply 403/03/2013

Jared Padalecki. Awful, awful, awful.

by Anonymousreply 503/03/2013

Any of the hair models on the CW.

by Anonymousreply 603/03/2013

Hair models???

by Anonymousreply 703/03/2013

Is Tom Welling still on?

by Anonymousreply 803/03/2013

No R8, he's gone . . . thank God.

by Anonymousreply 903/03/2013

R7 Yes, hair models.

They don't act, just sort of twirl or flip their hair.

by Anonymousreply 1003/03/2013

Katharine McPhee.

by Anonymousreply 1103/03/2013

Yeah, you're right . . . McPhee isn't very good.

by Anonymousreply 1203/03/2013

McPhee at least is passable.

by Anonymousreply 1303/03/2013

Chris Colfer

by Anonymousreply 1403/03/2013

by Anonymousreply 1503/03/2013

Please, Chris Colfer can actually act R14.

I do agree with a lot of CW choices. Tom Welling, Jared Padelecki, Chace Crawford were all bad actors. The Teen Wolf kid sucks also.

by Anonymousreply 1603/03/2013

Zosia Mamet can't even say "Hi!" convincingly. That's not an exaggeration.

by Anonymousreply 1703/03/2013

Cam and Mitchell's daughter on "Modern Family."

Shania on "The New Normal."

Haddie on "Parenthood."

Dax Shepherd in anything.

by Anonymousreply 1803/03/2013

Ice-T on Law & Order: SVU. Hasn't improved one iota since the first episode 13 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 1903/03/2013

Haddie - Sarah Ramos is pretty good. Dax is horrific. Mae Whitman is amazing.

by Anonymousreply 2003/03/2013

Jimmy Caan's kid on Hawaii 5-O.

His acting is so wooden and forced that it cancels any sex appeal he may have in still shots.

by Anonymousreply 2103/03/2013

What R19 said. Spot on. Am starting to worry, on the same show, about Kelli Giddish - her character is VERY one-note.

Back to Ice-T: I saw, a couple of years ago, his reality show - Ice-T Loves Coco - and on that show, which although reality must be somewhat "scripted", I was shocked: he was witty, intelligent, articulate - but dear God, cannot act.his.way.out.of.a.paper.bag.

Wonder WTF is up with Dick WOlf having hired him? Plenty of minority actors who CAN act out there...

by Anonymousreply 2203/03/2013

R4 R17 I think we need a Bad Acting Mamet-Off between Zosia and her half-sister Clara, who's on "The Neighbors."

by Anonymousreply 2303/03/2013

Disagree about Shania, Bebe Wood. She is one of the best child actors around. Did you see her do Edie Beale? She will have a career long after "Normal."

by Anonymousreply 2403/03/2013

R21 I agree. Nepotism is the only way he has a career.

Sad thing is I remember seeing a video of him on YouTube where he was speaking at some school and one of the kids asked how to get into the business, and Scott himself said, "Have a famous father". Even he knows he sucks.

by Anonymousreply 2503/03/2013

Stephen Amell. Definitely hot body but always the same expression on his face...

by Anonymousreply 2603/03/2013

That fat black woman and Aubrey Plaza on Parks & Rec...they're atrocious.

by Anonymousreply 2703/03/2013

I don't know, R26, I don't think Amell is too bad, especially for the CW. When it comes to annoying expressions, look at Jansen Akles from Supernatural. Jesus, that guy and his pursed lips! All he does is make model face at the camera. He's nice looking but sheesh. He is an awful actor.

by Anonymousreply 2803/04/2013

What am I, chopped liver?

by Anonymousreply 2903/04/2013

Kat Denning, two broke girls. That woman is the most incompetent actress I've ever seen on TV or in the movies. I guess big tits can save a girl. She is oddly unattractive too. The blonde gal, Beth something or other, is an excellent actress. The two are as unlikely a combination on one tv sitcom.

by Anonymousreply 3003/04/2013

No opinions here, as much of TV stinks. I just love how all the immediate and obvious candidates were eliminated by OP's stipulation of not including soap actors.

by Anonymousreply 3103/04/2013

I only catch a little of Two Broke Girls during commercial breaks from what I'm actually watching, but the dark-haired one is remarkably, conspicuously bad. It looks like total brain strain for her to get a line out.

by Anonymousreply 3203/04/2013

Joe Manganiello - True Blood. Not surprisingly who's acting credits include a series on the CW.

by Anonymousreply 3303/04/2013

Rob Lowe on "Parks and Recreation."

by Anonymousreply 3403/04/2013

Is it fair to include CW actors and actresses? That could be a thread in its own right since they elevate badness to a whole new level. Fortunately, once their shows get cancelled, they disappear into obscurity.

One who's not currently on air but whose stench still lingers: Emily Procter. Even being on the same show as Caruso didn't make her appear any less horrible.

by Anonymousreply 3503/04/2013

We liked Emily Procter a lot on WEST WING.

by Anonymousreply 3603/04/2013

January Jones is good as Betty on "Mad Men," but it ends there.

by Anonymousreply 3703/04/2013

I caught the newish 90210 several years ago.

There are many candidates for this honor on that show, but the black adopted guy and his sister are the worst.

by Anonymousreply 3803/04/2013

Dear worst actor on television, You don't need to tolerate this negativity. Call my lawyer, Allison Hart. The law firm is Lavely and Singer. She will send threatening letters to the webmaster and this harrassement will be deleted immediately. No one needs to be so abused like this.

Take care, Tig Notaro

by Anonymousreply 3903/04/2013

Yes, another vote for Kat Denning. How did she get hired? Maybe, the director is to blame for the way she says her lines.

Zosia Mamet on Girls is TERRIBLE!

by Anonymousreply 4003/04/2013

ABS = Always Be Suing. That's "our" Tig.

by Anonymousreply 4103/04/2013

Yes, Mamet is unwatchable.

by Anonymousreply 4203/04/2013

I'm surprised to see the hate for Zosia Mamet. Of the girls cast Allison Williams is clearly the worst actress. It isn't even a contest.

by Anonymousreply 4303/04/2013

I don't think Retta from "Parks and Rec" is bad. Aubrey Plaza is very one-note, though... Happily, it's a note I happen to like.

I hate the tinynip guy who plays Schmidt on "New Girl". That's a one-note whose note is a chalkboard screech.

by Anonymousreply 4403/04/2013

At first I thought you meant Krysten Ritter, the brunette on Don't Trust The B____. I've never seen either show, but she was Jane on Breaking Bad and is in my heart forever.

But no, wrong show.

by Anonymousreply 4503/04/2013

JHud. At least she can sing.

by Anonymousreply 4603/04/2013

Rob Lowe on P&R, Zosia Mamet and Alison Williams on Girls, the chick who played Lori and the guy who played Shane on Walking Dead..both dead characters so I can get over that. Not horrible but not right for the role is Steve Buscemi in Boardwalk Empire.

by Anonymousreply 4703/04/2013

Ashton Kutcher is the worst highly paid actor.

by Anonymousreply 4803/04/2013

With the death of Bonnie Franklin, the job's open...

by Anonymousreply 4903/04/2013

I haven't seen Zosia Mamer act on "Girls" or anywhere else, but if what people are saying about her is true, maybe it's because she subscribes to her father David's crackpot theories about acting. When it comes to that subject, he's a reactionary head case.

by Anonymousreply 5003/04/2013

Laurie Holden as Andrea on The Walking Dead.

by Anonymousreply 5103/04/2013

Dammit, R49!

by Anonymousreply 5203/04/2013

I get the feeling Zosia's been coached to play so vapid and innocent that she's in a shitty character box she can't get out od. She was better as a tangential friend. I agree Allison Williams is the worst thing on the show; when she emotes, I die laughing.

by Anonymousreply 5303/04/2013

Agreed R53. I used to think Dunham was the worst of the GIRLS but after Jessa's mini "breakdown" with her father a few weeks ago I can'd decide which of the four is actually the worst (after Allison Williams).

by Anonymousreply 5403/04/2013

OMG, how could we have forgotten Tracy Morgan?

by Anonymousreply 5503/04/2013

Chris O'Donnell wooden, expressionless face and bad voice.]

by Anonymousreply 5603/04/2013

WTF is this Tig Notaro thing? I tried to look up her lawsuit and was brought to a long ass story on a big blog that I didn't have the inclination to read. Can you sum it up r39?

by Anonymousreply 5703/04/2013

Oh yes, Schmidt from New Girl is definitely in the running. I agree that Kat Dennings makes the robot from Small Wonder seem effusive.

Have we mentioned Whitney Cummings yet? If not, add her to the list.

by Anonymousreply 5803/04/2013

That blonde who was the main actress on CSI:Miami (Poppy something) was easily the WORST actress I have seen in a major role on a regular series. She was AWFUL!

by Anonymousreply 5903/04/2013

Emilia Clarke

by Anonymousreply 6003/04/2013

The half man on Two and a Half Men. He makes Larry Matthews of Dick Van Dyke look like Olivier.

by Anonymousreply 6103/04/2013

Tracey Morgan is an artful buffoon. I don't care for him personally, but he's a long ways from legitimately being on this list.

by Anonymousreply 6203/05/2013

by Anonymousreply 6304/22/2014

The fat Hispanic kid on Modern Family.

by Anonymousreply 6404/22/2014

Lens Dunham. Every line delivery is the same. She has no range beyond "annoying ditch pig".

by Anonymousreply 6504/22/2014

Aidan Gillen. WTF is going on with his voice? Does he gargle ground glass before each scene? Is he Batman?

by Anonymousreply 6604/22/2014

Three-way tie in Modern Family

by Anonymousreply 6704/22/2014

Andrew Linooln Walking Dead The only thing worse than his American accent is his on british accent.

And a one trick pony. When he said "They don't pissed off the wrong people" whatever, I thought with him in charge they're all doomed Born fuck up

by Anonymousreply 6804/22/2014

I'll vote for the dark haired one on 2 Fat Whores or whatever it's called.

I'll also add Amy Poehler whose only talent is looking completely vacant and I'm pretty sure it's not an act.

by Anonymousreply 6904/22/2014

Mayim Bialik

by Anonymousreply 7004/22/2014

How can Katie Cassidy from Arrow not have been mentioned yet? She's atrocious.

by Anonymousreply 7104/22/2014

Katie Cassidy is awful on Arrow. But I thought she was one of the best things about the short lived Melrose Place reboot.

by Anonymousreply 7204/22/2014

Can I nominate the WHOLE cast of Revenge? If I can't, then it's a tossup between Madeleine Stowe and Connor Paolo. But really, it could be any of them.

by Anonymousreply 7304/22/2014

Zosia Mamet was actually kinda good as the lesbian photo editor with designs on Peggy on Mad Men. But yeah on Girls she is bad. Perhaps taking notes from Pop and Rebecca (who would win this hands down if she did TV).

Susan Lucci is on prime time now and still can't act.

It's amazing how far his looks have taken Rob Lowe.

by Anonymousreply 7404/22/2014

Katherine Mc Phee Emilia Clarke Kit Harington Aiden Gillian

by Anonymousreply 7504/22/2014

Chris O'Donnell is a fair choice. I honestly do not know if he has ever been good and he definitely phones it in on his show.

by Anonymousreply 7604/22/2014

Seth Gabel.

The aggressive topping on "Salem" this week was just too much, even for me.

Mmm hmmm.

by Anonymousreply 7704/22/2014

I can't believe we are nearly 80 replies in and no one has mentioned Elizabeth McGovern.

She is horrifyingly bland on Downton Abbey and seems to have three expressions: (a) stifling a smile, (b) opening eyes really wide or (c) the "I have to poop" face.

by Anonymousreply 7804/22/2014

McPhee is still the worst thing I've seen on the TV in a good long while. That hot mess hasn't been in the air in like a year and she still comes up with regularity.

It's like? The Devil? But... made... of... particle board?

Also: an insane person when not imitating building materials + homewrecker, hello.

by Anonymousreply 7904/22/2014

Seth Gabel was topping in a show called "Salem"? What is this "Salem"? I love Seth Gabel and his hairy chest.

by Anonymousreply 8004/22/2014

Topping a lady, which I think what I think R79 was objecting to.

by Anonymousreply 8104/22/2014

by Anonymousreply 8204/22/2014

R22, he wasn't too bad when he actually had some storyline like the couple of episodes with his gay son.

The one who surprised me was Richard Belzer when he did so well in the SVU episodes with Marlee Marlee when he told her about his father's suicide and there was also one when his character Munch spoke about a little girl he knew as a kid who was being abused.

by Anonymousreply 8304/22/2014

Cast of Modern Family--all so bad, the boy kid is esp. bad

Ashton Kutcher

Tracy Morgan and really everyone on the NBC sitcoms

Anyone who has a show who ever was on SNL no acting ability at all

I laugh out loud at Two Broke Girls It isn't supposed to be Shakespeare, girls

The cast of Nashville

by Anonymousreply 8404/22/2014

R84, you sound like an elderly asshole.

by Anonymousreply 8504/22/2014

You people watch too much TV. Read a book every now and then.

by Anonymousreply 8604/22/2014

Agree with R85. R84, you are a fucking moron.

by Anonymousreply 8704/22/2014

Not getting the R84 hate. Those choice have been repeated through this thread.

by Anonymousreply 8804/22/2014

{R85} and (R87) must be their time of the month because yes, those in 84 have been mentioned a lot. Or maybe they are SNL groupies.

Do you have to be 11 to be a fan of Modern Family? Evidently so; no one I know over 21 watches it.

I also agree we should be reading more and watching TV less.

by Anonymousreply 8904/22/2014

GoT - Kit Harington, Rose Leslie (Ygritte), Emilia Clarke, Aidan Gillen MM - January Jones Justified - Michael Rapaport (horrible accent)

Ashton Kutcher

SPN - Jared AND Jensen Arrow - Caity Lotz & Katie Cassidy TBBT - Mayim Bialik & Kaley Cuoco Psych - Dulé Hill (sounds like he has a speech impediment)

by Anonymousreply 9004/22/2014
I also agree we should be reading more and watching TV less.

Says the demented old queen who can barely compose complete sentences.

by Anonymousreply 9104/22/2014

tEmily Procter (Calleigh Duquesne) CSI:Miami. I think she is horrible.

by Anonymousreply 9204/22/2014

Ahem...she said with vibrant passion

by Anonymousreply 9304/22/2014

Raul Esparza is a very fine stage actor, and I hear he's doing strong work on another tv show, Hannibal, which I have not seen.

But shit does he suck on Law & Order: SVU.

by Anonymousreply 9404/22/2014

I'd second the votes for Elizabeth "I Owe My Career to My Heart-Shaped Face" McGovern and Jared "I Owe My Career to My Mop of Hair" Padalecki. And also January "I Owe My Career to My Resemblance to Grace Kelly" Jones (although weirdly Betty Francis is the one role she's actually OK at because it's so close to who she really is.)

Sarah Michelle Gellar is usually the worst of all, but her series keep getting cancelled.

by Anonymousreply 9504/22/2014

Amy Poehler and Zosia.

Katherine McPhee is okay, not good though.

by Anonymousreply 9604/22/2014

Darren Criss

by Anonymousreply 9704/22/2014

Leading role - Andrew Shue.

by Anonymousreply 9804/22/2014

But she [italic]is[/italic] an Englishman, R92.

by Anonymousreply 9904/23/2014

Mindy Kaling. Just. Ugh.

by Anonymousreply 10004/23/2014

That Emily D from "Bones". She's so one-note it's absurd. It's a long-running series because of the rest of the cast; certainly not because of her.

by Anonymousreply 10104/23/2014

That's called acting, R101. She's doing that on purpose, what you call "one-note." That flat affect is what the character is like.

by Anonymousreply 10204/23/2014
Leading role - Andrew Shue.

What a timely pick. He hasn't been on TV in 16 years, grandpa.

by Anonymousreply 10304/23/2014
Cast of Modern Family--all so bad, the boy kid is esp. bad

Dead on right.

by Anonymousreply 10404/23/2014

Bobby Cannavale STILL owns this thread.

by Anonymousreply 10504/23/2014

[64] and [67] win Modern Family is an emsemble of very poor actors.

I hate Tina Fey too; she is always the same in everything; she comes from the Tom Cruise acting school.

I like everyone on Mike and Molly EXCEPT Melissa McCarthy, who has gotten too big for her britches.

The cast of The Middle is very good. Heaton is just okay, but the others are so good, they make up for her. I love the kids and their friends. Sue's on again/off again boyfriend Darren is hot.

by Anonymousreply 10604/23/2014

Vera Farmiga on "Bates Motel".

by Anonymousreply 10704/23/2014
Mindy Kaling. Just. Ugh.
I hate Tina Fey too; she is always the same in everything; she comes from the Tom Cruise acting school.

You two sound like idiots who don't understand the meaning of a "comic actor."

by Anonymousreply 10804/23/2014

Jessica Lange

by Anonymousreply 10904/23/2014

[108] has sophomoric tastes.

hope they graduate from Arthur.

by Anonymousreply 11004/23/2014
[108] has sophomoric tastes.

Says someone who watches "Mike and Molly" and "The Middle"!

by Anonymousreply 11104/23/2014

We tied for first!

by Anonymousreply 11204/23/2014

One has to wonder reading the DL threads which rate acting, where the hell people get their ideas about what makes acting great, good, satisfactory and bad.

Of course there is subjectivity. But some of you seem to be clueless about the craft and others when you try to give reasons for what you like an dislike provide the most doubtful criteria.

by Anonymousreply 11304/23/2014

R108: Yeah, I do understand the term "comic actor". I just don't think Mindy is talented nor funny. Bitch.

by Anonymousreply 11404/23/2014

Elizabeth McGovern --downton, huck from scandal, the deep voiced captain from Chicago fire, Anna paquin on that vampire thing, the entire cast of girls including guest stars like Patrick Wilson but special mention to Adam driver

by Anonymousreply 11504/23/2014
Yeah, I do understand the term "comic actor".

I don't think you do, grandpa.

by Anonymousreply 11604/23/2014

R115 I actually give Huck a pass because I think that actor is directed to be all Asperger-y and weird for that character.

I enjoy Kerry Washington's performance well enough, but she has little to no range as Olivia - it's either sad dog eyes, quivering lip or Sashay Chante walk. She seems profoundly unable to express warmth.

by Anonymousreply 11704/23/2014

David Caruso

by Anonymousreply 11804/23/2014

R101 - I've seen Emily Deschanel in non Bones roles. She plays different characters. Notably, she played Kathleen Turner's daughter in A Perfect Family. Her character was a lesbian who was keeping her sexuality a secret from her uptight and Catholic mom.

by Anonymousreply 11904/23/2014

SVU is lucky to have Raul Esparza, best thing on that show in a looooong time. Also doing terrific work on Hannibal, making Dr. Chilton a fan favorite.

Amy Poehler? She's fantastic in Parks&Rec and is ridiculous that she hasn't won an Emmy for her Leslie Knope yet Tina Fey and Melissa McCarthy have several. Watch the episodes about Leslie running for city council or the one about the flu season to see if you still think that she's the worst.

I do agree with the Aiden Gillen choice and add Joshua Bowman in Revenge. Just awful.

by Anonymousreply 12004/23/2014

Emilia Clarke, I cringe whenever she has to be "bad ass". I don't know what exactly she's doing wrong, but it's never convincing. Bad casting choice, I think.

by Anonymousreply 12104/23/2014

[You do realize that this is a troll, right? It does not believe what it posts. It just craves attention. You might want to stop talking to it.]

by Anonymousreply 12204/23/2014

Clarke is not as bad as Paquin. When she tries to be hardcore I start laughing. Weak. At least Clarke has an army and her dragons to back her up.

by Anonymousreply 12304/23/2014

Zosia Mamet did an Off-Broadway play last season, and she was very convincing and gave a very strong performance, so she has skills that might not always be exhibited on "Girls", and her choices might very well be deliberate.

I give Elizabeth McGovern a pass cause I loved her so much in "Ragtime" way back in the day, and for which she earned an Oscar (!) nomination. Lost to Maureen Stapleton, I think.

Aidan Gillen is a very fine actor. Loved him on "Queer as Folk", and on stage he's riveting. (But why his accent suddenly changed this past week on "GoT", I've no idea. His director should have stepped in.)

So compared to many on this list, those three do have some skills. On the other hand:

That lead actor in the new show "Believe" is so unbelievably atrocious as to make the show unwatchable.

David Caruso: one sanctimonious smirk after another.

Adrian Grenier from "Entourage" would own this thread if that show were still running.

by Anonymousreply 12404/24/2014

Bobby Cannavale has got to be one of the worst going.

by Anonymousreply 12504/24/2014

Revenge needs to be canceled. It lost whatever purpose it may have had years ago. .

by Anonymousreply 12604/24/2014

I wish the tiresome Brit with the hate-on for Elizabeth McGovern would give it a fucking rest already.

We get it bitch, you hate Americans, you hate them on your tiresome soaps. Great. Guess what? We hate you too.

by Anonymousreply 12704/24/2014

Minka Kelly, HIDEOUSLY bad "actress", every line delivered with a half smile.

by Anonymousreply 12804/24/2014

Not all of us with a hate-on for McGovern in DA are Brits, you know, r127. Some of us are just ordinary people with a good sense of what constitutes lousy acting. And she's got that in spades.

by Anonymousreply 12904/24/2014

Megan Boone - The Blacklist - reads every line so flatly, I sometimes think she's Elisabeth Rohm in a bad wig.

by Anonymousreply 13004/24/2014

David Duchovny's acting consists of grinning and that's it, his entire range. Talk about coasting on being pretty, it's his sole asset.

by Anonymousreply 13104/24/2014

David Zayas was the probably the worst actor on Dexter

by Anonymousreply 13204/24/2014

R127 I'm poor white trailer trash and I was the original poster in this thread to mention her.

I know she has, in the past, shown a capacity to act. She's done it before. But apparently, she doesn't know how to do it anymore. She is a shockingly weak link in a lineup of heavy hitters.

by Anonymousreply 13304/24/2014

I'm so bad, people even forget me for this list!

by Anonymousreply 13404/24/2014

I don't get the Elizabeth McGovern hate.

She plays a woman who wanted an English title so badly she traded her inheritance for one. As if that weren't enough, after her husband Robert got his hands on her money, he let her know she was expected to be a good brood mare and produce a son. Her scheming maid O'Brien made sure that never happened.

Cora gradually realizes that along with being stodgy, narrow-minded, old-fashioned, English, and in love with military drag, Robert is not very bright and is a thoroughly incompetent buffoon as a manager. He gambles away her inheritance, then he expects other people to replace the money while leaving him in charge so he can screw up some more.

Cora has obviously never had sex that wasn't missionary position and has no idea how an orgasm might feel. McGovern absolutely gets that non-orgasmic older woman look down to a t. She's not had a good or happy life, but she's become very good at faking it and she's muddling along making the best of things.

Her mother Martha is a vain, mean, shallow narcissist. Her weird brother Harold has always been in the closet while pretending to be a womanizer. Her mother in law Violet has both the mind and tongue of a serpent. Sybil, the favorite of her three daughters, is dead because of blundering Robert. Mary, whom Cora respects but does not particularly like, is smarter and tougher than her mother and father put together. Poor, dull, homely, not very bright Edith would put a knife in anyone's back if it would get her the only thing she wants, a husband.

I think Cora always looks a bit shell-shocked and out of her element. Who wouldn't in that nest of vipers?

by Anonymousreply 13504/24/2014

R135 you're talking about the character, not the actor.

I never see changes in McGovern's expression, for anything. She even had that fake smile big eyes look when Sybil died. Either she's Botoxed to within an inch of her life or she's just not able to act it.

by Anonymousreply 13604/25/2014

Are you insane R107? You have to be trolling or getting her confused with her sister.

by Anonymousreply 13704/25/2014

Jensen Ackles, with that bullshit gravel voice he does, OWNS this thread.

Horrible, horrible actor.

Just awful.

by Anonymousreply 13804/25/2014

Agreed. Jared is pretty bad too.

by Anonymousreply 13904/25/2014

Depends. Was THE BROTHERHOOD a TV series? If so, everyone.

by Anonymousreply 14004/25/2014

Is Jensen Ackles the guy on Supernatural, the one who plays Dean, R138 If it is, I couldn't agree more. He is so bad I often wonder how he got in the business.

by Anonymousreply 14104/25/2014

I could forgive Elizabeth McGivern so much if she just didn't retain that hideous Chicago accent. It's completely out of character for the role--they've established Cora grew up in Cincinnati, where people do not sound anything like people from Chicago. But McGovern retains those horrible Chicago flat vowels and hard r's: "RAWWWWWW-burrrt"

Some of these girls who disagree with others need to remember EVERYONE is entitled to their own opinion.

I agree Tina Fay is overrated and only marginally talented...same for Mindy Kaling, plus could she be any uglier? I know she can't help that, but she sure is pompous for having that face.

The Middle's writing is actually quite sophisticated--many examples of jokes you can take 2 ways, so both kids and adults can have their own separate laughs on the same joke. The writers also really know kids/schools/parents. Those of you who don't get it, don't watch, and don't knock people who do.

by Anonymousreply 14304/25/2014

Agree that Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are not good actors and will probably disappear into obscurity after Spn ends. The conventions are probably good for a few more years yet though.

I can't believe though that Misha Collins has not been mentioned. C'mon, he's woeful.

His character has not developed at all since he first appeared in Season 4, and Misha's acting only encompasses expressions of bafflement or constant constipation.

None of the three are great shakes as actors; nevertheless this show was damn good in its early years.

You sound like a grandma.

by Anonymousreply 14504/25/2014

[146] and you sound like a 5 year old who will never be able to comprehend reading and writing.

by Anonymousreply 14604/25/2014

The Middle is one of the only comedies I've liked in recent years. The writing is good, and so is Charlie McDermott.

by Anonymousreply 14704/25/2014

[148] is right.

McDermott is a pretty good young actor and easy on the eyes too. Flynn also pretty hot.

by Anonymousreply 14804/25/2014

So now we have a The Middle Troll, huh?

by Anonymousreply 14904/25/2014

F you 150

You are so classy

by Anonymousreply 15004/25/2014

I enjoy The Middle--hell, even DL fave right winger Patricia Heaton is good in it.

But the best of them is Eden Sher. Emmy worthy. Seriously.

So no worst actor contenders there.

by Anonymousreply 15104/26/2014

[152] bless you! Good response!

by Anonymousreply 15204/26/2014

Bitsie Tulloch - plays the role of Juliette on Grimm.

by Anonymousreply 15305/01/2014

Hillary Clinton

by Anonymousreply 15405/01/2014

LOL at the stupid old cunt who thinks The Middle is "sophisticated."

by Anonymousreply 15505/01/2014

I'm sure [156] loves the trash on Bravo and is not intelligent enough to understand the humor on "The Middle." It is a very funny and sweet show.

I forget the poster, but the one who wondered how the Supernatural guys got hired...uh, casting couch?

As a grown gay male, it's very important to me that I can watch sitcoms that have jokes kids can get, too.

Scott Caan. Biggest douche on earth!

by Anonymousreply 15805/01/2014

I do laugh at Jason Beghe on [italic]Chicago PD[/italic]; not because I generally think he's bad (I haven't viewed much of his other work) but because it's no hammy, it makes me think Beghe's performance is this decade's answer to David Caruso of [italic]CSI: Miami[/italic].

by Anonymousreply 15905/01/2014

r160, I cannot bear to watch Jason Beghe on Chicago PD and Chicago Fire.

by Anonymousreply 16005/01/2014
Scott Caan. Biggest douche on earth!

Don't make me come over there and make you "accidentally" fall over a balcony.

by Anonymousreply 16105/01/2014

I think Jared Padalecki is overrated. He is not bad but all of Supernatural's story arches revolve around his character and Jensen Ackles as Dean still blows him out of the water even though he is most of the time an supporting lead. It's kind of sad. Every time Dean has a story they change it after a couple of episodes to make it about Sam, and I still feel more for Dean. Could also be because of Jensen Ackles begin a great actor.

by Anonymousreply 16211/27/2014

r162, no actor on Supernatural has anything to boast about. Some of the one-off actors and guest actors are excruciatingly bad.

While he'll never win an AA, Jared does well enough on that show. Misha Collins is embarrassingly woeful - not helped by the writers making his angel character an idiot.

I agree that Jensen is the best actor - but no way is he "great". He's good, not great.

by Anonymousreply 16311/27/2014

Ashton Kutcher is pretty awful as an actor on TV or on the movie screen.

Zero range. Zero ability to emote. He makes Cruise look like Olivier.

He's famous for knowing about tech and for producing Prank'd, which mostly surprised people because they didn't think he has the gumption to pull something like that off.

Then he married Demi Moore and got a lot of press for that.

But he still can't act for shit.

by Anonymousreply 16411/27/2014

Ugh, go away, Supernatural fantards

by Anonymousreply 16511/27/2014

Zosia Mamet. Granted she has atrocious lines and costumes on Girls, but the she barks out her dialogue in ways that just makes everything worse. Plus, she has the worst name this side of Frank Zappa's kids.

by Anonymousreply 16611/27/2014

The worst acting in years was committed by the lead actress on that terrible but entertaining show called Black Box.

by Anonymousreply 16711/27/2014

The idea of Jensen Ackles being the "best" actor on anything is just mind-boggling. Jensen is SUCH a dreadful actor. He really is one of the worst of the worst. Misha is passable to my mind, but Padalecki is terrible too. I agree about the conventions being a continuing source of cash for them though.

Elizabeth McGovern would be less awful if she stopped affecting that accent.

And yes, R164, Kutcher is indeed talentless.

by Anonymousreply 16811/27/2014

Alfred Enoch on How to Get Away with Murder is pretty terrible. As someone on another thread noted, all of his "acting" consists of tilting his head and giving sideways glances.

by Anonymousreply 16911/27/2014

[There is nothing more tedious than a race baiting troll. Except the people that talk to it.]

by Anonymousreply 17011/27/2014

Misha Collins a good actor, r168?

Surely you jest.

Granted the idiot angel storyline does him no favors, but he doesn't do much with what he's given, either.

The only thing he's REALLY good at is using his fame to his advantage.

That said, I'd be surprised if Jensen, Jared and Misha have any careers when Spn ends. I still maintain that Jensen is the strongest actor of the three of them.

Go sit on a spike, R165. Spn is the very definition of bad acting so I can't see why it can't be discussed here.

by Anonymousreply 17111/27/2014

Jensen Ackles sucked as Eric Brady. He has the most monotonous voice in all of acting.

I love Jason Beghe, but I liked David Caruso. CSI:HORATIO was the only CSI I could stand.

by Anonymousreply 17211/27/2014

Patricia Arquette in CSI: Cyber
