Is Austin the new Portland (which was the new Seattle)?

At least it doesn't rain all the time.

No.

I think New Orleans is the new Austin, which was the new Portland, which was the new Seattle.

Parts of New Orleans are like the new Williamsburg, too.

Yeah, Yankees always think they're changing the place, but they never do R2.

Austin and New Orleans are too idiosyncratic to be comparable to Portland/Seattle.

New Orleans is not the new Austin. It hasn't fully recovered from Katrina and likely never will. Even aside from that, the two cities are fundamentally different in nearly every conceivable way.

Austin is also not the new Portland. While they both have their fair shares of obnoxious hipsters, as well as excellent live music and restaurant scenes, they're also too fundamentally different. Austin has actual *industry*, for starters, and is much more like Seattle in that context.

But really, at this point *all* of these cities are totally OVAH. The hippest of the hip have moved on to Detroit and Buffalo.

I almost entirely agree with you, R5, but what's 'Buffalo'?
