Her appearance at the 1983 Tony Awards was perhaps the most reviled "hosting" job ever for that ceremony. Sondheim even wrote a letter to the committee saying it was a disgrace that awards were left off the telecast so there could be taped segments about how Franklin tried making it on Broadway.

I always thought it was hilarious when she was on ODAAT she talked about how she hated LA and television but wanted to grow name recognition so she could live the rest of her life on the Broadway stage. Of course, she never even got close to the bright lights again.

No word from MacKenzie yet?

by Crying as I type this!reply 1803/01/2013

Why did she never win an Emmy?

She was nominated only once and lost to a guest appearance by Carol Kane.

R19 that was the same year that Charlotte Rae was nominated for The Facts of Life.

FOL and ODAAT use to film right next to each other, Glenn Scarpelli and the Facts girls used to hang out on the set.
