He looks Black Irish, but his middle name is Geza. Is Geza Hispanic?
What is Ben Affleck's ancestry?
|by Anonymous||reply 40||03/02/2013|
Affleck has English, Irish, Scottish, and German ancestry. The surname "Affleck" is Scottish.
Benjamin Géza Affleck-Boldt(born August 15, 1972), better known as Ben Affleck

I wonder if one of his parents was a fan of pianist Geza Anda. His was the version of Mozart's Piano Concerto #21 used in the movie "Elvira Madigan," which came out a few years before Ben was born.

Geza sounds Jewish to me. Like Gaza.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||03/01/2013|
Geza sounds Hungarian.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||03/01/2013|
It is Hungarian. Google Ben Affleck + middle name and you'll get the story behind his middle name.

He's heebie on his mother's side and jeebie on his father's side.

He needs to keep the beard, I mean the stuff growing on his face. Looks darn hot in a beard. Loved it at the Oscars when he and Clooney hugged and smiled at each other, and BA commenting on how their beards had caught...awww...so cute...as if it was the first time (smirk)

Geza is Hungarian, dummies. My neighbor in Shaker Hts back in the 80's was named "Geza Balint"
|by Anonymous||reply 10||03/01/2013|
I think I read somewhere that the father Tim Affleck has some Turkish in him, which is what I think Ben looks like.
Geza was the name of a family friend.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||03/01/2013|
Geza means "self-important douchebag mook" in Gaelic.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||03/01/2013|
I heard Ben is also Spanish...I dunno.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||03/01/2013|
He aint no WASP thats for sure. Geza just screams common.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||03/01/2013|
Ben is also part African-American.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||03/01/2013|
That's Geza with a Z, darlings.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||03/01/2013|
Geza also sounds like a person from Boston saying geezer, so that means his ancestors were old.

Is Matt Damon part black too?

Thanks for the guffaw!

His mother comes from a very distinguished family. Ben's grandmother was with MOMA in New York for many years working with the Rockefellers. She and her husband Sam, Ben's Grandfather for whom his son is named, lived in a very grand apartment on the Upper East Side, also in Millbrook, NY and they had a home in Massachusetts. Sam Shaw was a very successful lawyer. Ben is not from the neighborhood where "The Town" was set. Not by a long shot.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||03/01/2013|
Did you like that little comment at the end of The Town where they pretended to apologize to the citizens of the area saying they weren't like in the movie, after they made a whole movie saying they were

Ben's mom is a Harvard grad, class of 64 or 65 she graduated with my uncle. Her first name is actually "Christopher" and not Christine oddly enough. Kinda like Obamas mother being named Stanley.
Matt Damon isn't from working class MA roots either his ancestry is fairly Brahmin-esque (old line blue blood Bostonian). He and Ben have gotten a lot of milege out of the Good Will Hunting meme that they're from working class Cambridge. Not even close.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||03/01/2013|
So working-class Ben is really an aristocrat? There's another reason to loathe this douchey mediocrity. And he's a fraud for claiming authorship of GWH. What an asshole.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||03/01/2013|
There's bullshit in the Iran movie, too

I don't think there's anything odd about it!

Ben & Damon were NEVER aristocrats. Ben's parents were kind of upper mid class hippie types who lived in commune setups early on when he was small (it was the 70s) and his mother continued to live that kind of liberal free-form "Free to be you and me" way when she moved back to Boston post-divorce with her kids.
Damon's mother apparently had similar tastes and moved her kids into a Cambridge commune after her divorce from his dad in the 70s. She lived near the Afflecks and that's how they became friends. They were born to upper mid class parents though make no mistake.

How about me?
|by Anonymous||reply 33||03/01/2013|
R31, has it occurred to you that the only reason Ben's upper middle class parents were able to flit around living as hippies on communes was because they had money? Working class people do not have the luxury of play acting as gentle radicals and exploring themselves in a commune setting. The point is Affleck has always potrayed himself as working class and clearly he is not. He's dishonest and, yes, a fraud.

Well duh, r34 of course it occurred to me, re-read my post that's exactly what I was saying: Ben's parents were typical early 70s "hippies" in that they were able to live that way because they came from money. Typical for that era and -very- typical for that type in Cambridge. Ditto for Damon's mother.
As I said Ben and Matt were never aristocrats. It is total bs that they continue to portray themselves as working class in origin.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||03/01/2013|
Damon is also of Finnish origin.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||03/01/2013|
Harvard didn't admit woman until the 1970's, R27. If anything, Affleck's mother went to Radcliffe.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||03/01/2013|
Should re-state my posts at r31 and r36 to say that Affleck/Damon were never working-class, not "never aristocrats". They were in fact from relatively posh backgrounds ("aristocratic")
|by Anonymous||reply 39||03/01/2013|
What about the Damon ass? Is it real, or is that fake, too?
