Help Me Diagnose My Roommate

My roommate literally spends hours on the toilet. He uses tons of toilet paper. He has clogged the toilet many times. Just last month, water started pouring out the base of the toilet and our landlord came by to install a wax ring (which fixed it). Now, the toilet runs all the time and today he broke the flush handle (don't ask).

He has mentioned he might have some digestive tract problems (at one point he thought he had colitis). He has been to see a doctor about this, but he said they could not tell confirm what was wrong.

I want to be understanding, but it is annoying that he is breaking the toilet and also that he won't get help for whatever is ailing him. I also can't believe he is breaking the toilet so much.

anyone have colitis or something similar?

Give him an enema!

Has he recently discovered masterbation?

by Anonymousreply 202/22/2013

Sounds like he may be lactose intolerant

by Anonymousreply 302/22/2013

or have Celiac Disease

by Anonymousreply 402/22/2013

He needs to be tested for Celiac, but bar that he might have IBS or IBD. He needs to see a gastroenterologist asap.

Barring that, I have IBS, am Jewish (if he's Jewish he might have it) & he should be drinking kefir, say Lifeway kefir.

Please tell him to try it & see if it will clear up his stom / GI issues.

It could also be Crohn's Disease - again, he needs to drink kefir to clear it up so that he doesn't get worse.

Is he eating a lot of food with sugar alcohols, like Atkins bars? This could be a problem.

You are the scat troll

Eating lots of sugar free candy might be the problem. Sugar alcohol has a laxative effect.

by Anonymousreply 1202/22/2013

Could be any number of things. If the last lazy, incompetent doc was dismissive, he needs to go to someone else who is interested in helping him find out what the problem is.

What R12 said.
