The 70s Glam Rock Thread

The 70s one-hit-wonder thread made me want talk about glam rock. Here's a good one, Mott the Hoople - All the Young Dudes. David Bowie heard that Mott was splitting up, so he wrote the song for them to encourage them not to. It's supposedly a gay anthem, and you can see the gay references with the title and a few other lines, though honestly it seems mostly gibberish. I love the music though.

I love the song 'all the to Memphis'!

Was T-Rex considered glam?

Very glam especially the eye shadow.

Marc Bolan of T. Rex was indeed glam. One might even say that he started the glam movement!

Here's a wiki page that lists glam rock artists. It says the classic glam rock era was '71 -'76, but also lists post-'76 glam artists.

Brian Slade. Just kidding--but the movie was a fun rehash of the times.

Marc Bolan was an elfin sorcerer from a dimension we don't yet fully understand. His top, underrated tracks:

1. Cadillac 2. Thunderwing 3. Main Man 4. Life's A Gas 5. By The Light Of The Magical Moon

and on and ON!

Keep a little Marc in your heart, please.
