Annoying Fake Reviews on Amazon
Brandi Glanville's new book & yes, the reviewer has only written one other review & the next review it's the same thing and people are falling for it...148 helpful votes.
Something should be done about this:-
[quote]This book opens with a bang (wink, wink) and doesn't stop. If you are someone who reads the weekly celebrity gossip magazines, blogs, etc. this is a dream come true. Brandi Glanville does in this book what fans of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are use to, she opens up her unfiltered mouth and doesn't close it until its all out there, warts and all.(almost literally;) Brandi is rare, especially by celebrity standards. She doesn't just dish other's dirt, she is more than willing to disclose her own short-comings, mistakes, criminal mischief, sexual exploits and...well...pretty much anything else that comes to her pretty little mind. It is a hilarious read that had me laughing out loud. And while Brandi as much as admits herself that she doubts anyone reading is looking for real life advice, she does give some really good information in her reflections, if you are willing to accept it. I would very much recommend this book. But it is not for the uptight, as she rarely sensors herself and at times has you asking, "Where is this chick's publicist?" There are many amazing one-liner's that will, no doubt, go viral. I say more power to you Ms. Glanville!! Any book that has me reading through the night because I just can't put it down, is a best seller and money well spent. Bravo Brandi!

"the reviewer has only written one other review & the next review it's the same thing"
And, at the other end of the spectrum is the ubiquitous Harriet Klausner, who has reviewed over 28,000 books in 13 years. That's about six a day, every day.
If you're interested, see the link for dear Harriet's profile and ALL her reviews.

She has '2 dogs, a cairn and a pom, and four cats'.
It's the multiple cats that don't surprise me.
There was some man who wrote 'funny' reviews who had a sort of following.

I think the funny guy you referred to might be Henry Raddick. At one point, his following was so faithful that he was the 87th most trusted reviewer!
One of my favorites was his review of a book for parents of gay children. Henry said he just bought the book to leave sitting around where his son Jonathon (who is straight) would find it. "He may have won the nose-piercing battle, but I intend to win the mind-games war."

R4=the fake reviewer/Brandi's gaygent
MY BF wrote a fake glowing review on Amazon for the book of a friend of his that he actually thought was terrible.
I told him it was immoral.

Harriet Klausner is a cunt. I wish someone like horse_ebooks would prank her.

What is the blind devotion to this woman? Fraus really have no life. This is pathetic.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||02/18/2013|
I love the fact that Brandi's book is selling so well.
It must be driving those other bitches on the show CRAZY.
Especially the Persian trannie and her failed shoe line.

She's been promoting it like a maniac.

This is hysterical!!!! Thanks for sharing, R3.

Amazon has started posting pictures of reviewers. If that becomes mandatory it will stop a lot this nonsense of people posting under various names and I.P.s
|by Anonymous||reply 13||02/19/2013|
My fave Amazon reviewing flame war was for the book A Fatal Passion. It gets hysterical.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||02/19/2013|
R13, of course it won't be mandatory, you idiot. Very few people would post reviews if a photo is mandatory. Wait, I just thought of a great idea. What if we made it mandatory to post on Datalounge only if you have a photo?

Brandi is the source for half of the blind items on CDAN. I think she also is a source for Celebitchy. She has a core pack of women that are obsessed with her and who stalk that poor demented twit LeeAnn.

Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, reviews the Holy Bible:
420 of 485 people found the following review helpful
Far too pornographic for a Christian home!
By Mrs. Betty Bowers "Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian"
I simply refuse to poison my Christian children's precious minds with lascivious tales of daughters getting their father drunk and having sex with him (Genesis 19:30-38) - or harlots lusting after penises that are the size of donkeys' (Ezekiel 23:20). It is, however, excellent for cracking nuts and slapping bottoms.

Harriet Klausner would write reviews that sounded like jacket copy sent through a shredder. The sentences were incomplete, the grammar atrocious and those participles, just dangling everywhere. And most of the books she did review seemed to come from the same cheapo publishing house.
The best part was the people who wrote negative responses.

My least favorite Amazon reviews are the one-star reviews from people complaining their product never arrived and seem to think that writing a bad review somehow alerts customer service.

IIRC, Newt Gingrich liked to spend his spare time reviewing for Amazon after he left office. Don't know how prolific he was.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||02/19/2013|
Tell me about it R17! The pack shares a DL code for starting threads here from one subscription. Then the fraus are surprised that nobody on DL cares about scorned women. I don't mind straight women posting here but it irks me when they attempt to bring their stalking crusade over here. Gay readers would care if the triangle involved real celebrities who brought on the glamour. There's nothing fabulous about any of these three players who suffer from incurable genital warts. We can hardly get worked up over legit celebrities as it is. What does that say about someone who wastes their time caring about these nobodies?

I feel like I've entered a parallel universe.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||02/19/2013|
What's your issue with, IIRC? It is what I recall reading around 2000 and 2001 about Gingrich's reviewing activity. What the fuck is wrong with you?
|by Anonymous||reply 25||02/19/2013|
I don't know who this woman is and I couldn't give a shit (I haven't read all of the posts, but it sounds like she's yet another 'reality' idiot), but if this is true, Amazon better be notified.
This is bullshit.

A friend of mine is a top 500 reviewer for Amazon and she loathes Klausner. I know she'd host a huge party if Klausner was kicked off Amazon.
I don't know if it's the same person, but there was a cookbook reviewer who reviewed every cookbook that came out by just printing the chapter headers and the description blurb from the jacket. It was completely worthless since it could all be seen on the preview, but because her reviews were so long, people thought she was so incredibly helpful. However, there was a hardcore contingent of debunkers who followed her and posted how worthless the review was since she never actually made anything from the book. I don't think she ever really purchased them.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||02/19/2013|
Are they trying to stop this now with the "Amazon Verfied Purchase" blurb that I sometimes see under the title of the review? I ask this because I got into an arguement with someone because I wrote a review of a book, and another reviewer accused me of making it up becuase it wasn't a verified purchase. I had to inform him that you could still get books at the library and he said it made no sense that a person would get a book from one source and then review it on another. Dipshit.

IIRC = If I Recall Correctly
CDAN = Crazy Days and Nights--it's a blog/website with lots of blind items.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||02/19/2013|
IIRC, IIRC is old bulletin board-speak, like YMMV that I was asked to explain recently to someone who was still mystified afterward. She was certain she was being insulted.

I wasn't sure what R24 was getting at. I thought he took issue with my memory of Gingrich as a reviewer...
