Washington 5th graders accused of plotting to kill female classmate, others students

(CBS/KREM/AP) COLVILLE, Wash. - Court documents released Wednesday give disturbing details about how and why two northeast Washington fifth-grade boys planned to kill a female classmate along with other students, reports CBS affiliate KREM.

The young suspects, 10 and 11, were arrested at Fort Colville Elementary School on Feb. 7 after a fourth grader apparently saw one of them playing with a knife on the bus and told a school employee.

The employee, Richard Payette, searched the fifth-graders' bags found a 3.25 inch knife, an ammunition clip and a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol in the 10-year-old's bag. School employees notified the Colville Police Department.

KREM reports that when asked about the weapons, the 10-year-old told a staff member that he and the 11-year-old were going to "get [the girl] away from the school and do her in." He said the 11-year-old was going to stab the girl with a knife and the 10-year-old was supposed to keep everyone away, according to court documents.

The 10-year-old reportedly indicated he and the 11-year-old had been planning the attack for some time, and that another student was aware of their plans. Police say the younger suspect admitted he took the weapons from his older brother's room.

Court documents state the 11-year-old said he and the 10-year-old were planning to kill the girl "because she was really annoying," KREM reports. The 10-year-old said he had been in a "short dating relationship" with the girl.

According to KREM, the 11-year-old also told a teacher the names of more students they were going to target.

When a police officer asked the 10-year-old if he knew what he was going to do was dangerous, wrong, and unlawful, and the boy reportedly replied "Yes, I just wanted her dead," the records show.

Animals like this should be destroyed, they offer nothing to society, because they are like rabbid animals. You can't teach someone to have a conscience or remorse,my their very existence puts the public in sever jeopardy. Thereis something wrong in their very existence.

Damn, I didn't know fifth graders were posting on Datalounge.

A "short dating relationship"? Ten and eleven year olds? Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking.

To be fair, they were more like fuck buddies than boyfriend/girlfriend.

TOLD YOU WE'RE HARDCORE!!!

Probably the most astounding thing is the planning that went into the murder plot. I never realized little children could be so devious.

The eleven year old was going to stab the girl, while the ten year old would shoot anyone who tried to interfere with the murder. And they even offered another child 80 dollars to keep quiet about the plot.

That's simply fucking incredible.

by Anonymousreply 602/15/2013

By 5th grade, these kids are ejaculating and menstruating...they should be tried as the adults they biologically are.

by Anonymousreply 702/15/2013

R7, right along with their parents. And how old was this "older brother" who had the gun in his room? Once again, parents are responsible. Now where is that little anti-abortion POS? These parents never should have had children. They clearly created monsters.

by Anonymousreply 802/15/2013

When I was 11, I was worrying about how I would stuff my bra-- not whether or not I was going to get shanked.

by Anonymousreply 902/15/2013

Whoa! 80 bucks? Just to hold someone down? Why did my agent not tell me this?

Why is it so incredible? Everyone KNEW I wrote the best hand!

This is where that serial killer that recently killed himself in an Alaskan prison was from - the same town.

The Jamie Bulger killers Robert Thompson and Jon Venables were 10 years old when they committed the crime. They are kind of a interesting case study as the British justice system decided that they could be rehabbed and move on with their lives as adults. They were released when they were 18 and given witness protection program like treatment; new identities, new passports, new national identity numbers, etc. Thompson has never been heard from since (although Jamie's mother claims that she tracked him down, but was too scared to confront him). However, Venables has been a total mess. He evidently settled back in the Liverpool area, although as a condition of his release he was never to even visit that area again; he abused drugs and alcohol and confessed his true identity to numerous people;and he was reincarcerated on child pornography charges. He has been given a new identity for the 4th time and is still in jail, mostly for his own protection because he can't keep his mouth shut or get his shit together.

r13 really? Do you have a link about that? Was Thompson the one that was trying to get the boy to go back to his mom? IIRC one of them was saying, "go away baby, go back" or something like that. That is crazy shit. I would think they couldn't be rehabbed. I know that Eric Smith (I think that's his last name) the weird redhead that killed the little boy when he was 11 or so, is really pushing to get released now that he is like 28 or so but they are not having it.

by Anonymousreply 1402/15/2013

r13, Thomson is allegedly gay, and settled down with a LTP who knows who he is (as required by his life license). He passed his A levels, but it's not known what, if anything, he does for a living. I saw a pic of him in the early aughts, and he looks chavvish.

I also read the Ormand report the other day, and Venables didn't have a chance. They spent millions and millions of pounds on that case, and they missed the two most crucial parts of his rehab: the sexual part of the murder and criminal background check law. The bureaucracy around that case was a mess, too.

The police are currently investigating a person for tweeting a pic of Venables after he got drunk at a party and told people who he was. I think he'll be in for life now.

We go by brain development, shithead. These kids are not fully developed yet. I'm sure you think with your dick.

The Jamie Bulger murder is still one of the most horrific murderers in history. Anonymous outed Venables. They found recent photos, and all his info, including where he worked, and spread it all over the web.

Bulger killer's 'gay lover'

ROBERT Thompson, one of the killers of toddler James Bulger, has moved in with his gay lover, it was claimed last night.

The 23-year-old is reported as being in a “long-term relationship” with a man he met following his release from custody five years ago.

At first, his partner was unaware of his gruesome past, sources claim.

But when the relationship became serious, he revealed that he was one of the killers of two year-old James.

He had to tell his partner of the murder to meet the strict conditions of his release, which force him to be honest about his past if he forms close relationships.

In 1993, he and his friend Jon Venables abducted James from a shopping centre and led him across Liverpool before torturing him and then battering him to death on a railway line.

Detectives in the case believe Thompson thought up the plan to kidnap the toddler and was more violent than Venables.

The two killers were aged just ten at the time. Thompson now has no regular access to children.

Sources close to him say he is now in a settled relationship with another man. They also claim that he has been living with his lover — whose age is not known — for several months.

The killer was not previously known to have been gay.

It is believed that Thompson, who lives at a secret location in North West England, has settled back well into the community and is not considered a risk to the public.

Since the two killers were released after serving eight years in child detention centres — the public have not been allowed to know much about their lives.

The pair cannot contact each other.

And Thompson was given a new identity, including a name, passport and National Insurance number. A High Court injunction protects his new identity.

The child killer has received huge financial support from taxpayers through the Home Office and Probation Service since his release.

He is allowed to claim benefits to stop him turning to crime when he is not in work.

He also has access 24 hours a day to probation officers if he needs advice.

While in custody, he was encouraged to develop an interest in textiles and won praise for a wedding dress he designed.

Thompson was held at a detention centre in Barton Moss, near Eccles, on the outskirts of Manchester.

Venables was locked up at the Red Bank Children’s Home on Merseyside.

It was just 13 miles from the home of James Bulger’s family in Kirby.

The cost of keeping the pair in secure units was around £150,000 a year — making the total £2.5million for their total sentences.

A spokesperson for the Home Office refused to comment on the revelations about Thompson.

She said: “We do not discuss individual cases such as this.

What about the sexual part? How would you address that, if it even did exist?

R18, yes I saw R5 when I clicked on this thread initially. I clicked on this thread to check to see if a "hardcore" comment was made; saw R5; and was satisfied.

There are a few different photos purported to be Venables out there. It's hard to say though - adult Venables has curly hair, and he seemed to have straight hair as a child. Also, most of the photos seem to be of the same person but there is one of a guy in hoodie that looks different from the other guy. It's such a mess, some innocent guy could be attacked because he looks like what people think Thompson or Venables would look like as adults.

Thompson was always thought to be the real "bad seed" and Venables the follower. Who knows. It does seem that Venables has a much harder time keeping a low profile and living with the lie that is his created identity, and that he almost craves incarceration. He doesn't seem to be able to make it in real life.

by Anonymousreply 2402/16/2013

The fallacy of treating minors as adults in the criminal justice system is that they just aren't. There are interventions you can do with a ten-year-old to turn their lives around that just aren't feasible with a 18- or 28-year-old. You can also make a fucked-up kid infinitely more fucked up by throwing him into an adult jail (most juvenile detention programs are bad enough.) Also, a ten-year-old can't be held responsible in the same way a thirty-year-old can. A ten-year-old isn't developmentally capable of understanding what murder really means, and just the fact that the kid is this angry and is armed in the first place proves that he is being raised by some pretty fucked up individuals.

Anyway, this is why we used to have things like child protective services and government-funded mental health services, to cut down on the likelihood that kids would end up like this. But most of those programs are long gone or so underfunded they can't do shit.
