What a hero...
Tebow to Speak at Virulently Anti-Gay, Anti-Semitic Church
|by Anonymous||reply 56||02/23/2013|
Though he courts a gay audience.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||02/15/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 2||02/15/2013|
His greatest sin is that he has a flat, misshapen lump of an ass.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||02/15/2013|
It'll be news when he speaks at a pro-Christian synagogue.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||02/15/2013|
Who cares about this has-been pig. He's yesterday's news anyway.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||02/15/2013|
The day will come when he'll get caught in a Ted Haggard situation.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||02/15/2013|
Don't worry, OP, someone here will still defend him. Based on past Tebow threads, the defense will be one of the following:
1) He's too young and sheltered to have formed his own opinions about homosexuality, and just repeats what he's been taught.
2) His management set this up, not him, and he has no idea that the church might be anti-gay.
3) He's controlled by his mom. (A subset of excuse #1.)
4) He's never actually said that he's anti-gay, so even though he supports anti-gay pastors and organizations, you're just making assumptions.
Does that cover all of them?
|by Anonymous||reply 7||02/15/2013|
One of the elders has been cornholing him for years
|by Anonymous||reply 8||02/15/2013|
Out him already. Gay people that actively do us harm need to be outed.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||02/15/2013|
A lot of what you wrote can't be denied R7.
He grew up sheltered and was instilled with warped values by an overbearing fundie mother. She home-schooled him through high school and moved to a home near the football player dorm when he went to college.
Still, he had enough time during four years at U. of F. and two years in pro football to learn more about the real world. The person who would have some insight into that is his ex-roommate BFF Riley Cooper.
The fact that Tebow went out with Taylor Swift is interesting.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||02/15/2013|
I honestly think he's too fucking stupid to realize or think about any of this stuff. It never even occurs to him that it might not be the best idea.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||02/15/2013|
He went out with Taylor Swift, too? I missed that one. It must have been just one weekend.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||02/15/2013|

Every time I hear him interviewed, I wonder who took his college exams for him - and wrote his term papers.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||02/15/2013|
Tard face and flat ass.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||02/16/2013|
It looks like somebody got to Timmy and made him back out of this.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||02/21/2013|
Typical self-loathing closet case brainwashed by religion
|by Anonymous||reply 17||02/21/2013|
He's backed out. Won't be speaking after all.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||02/21/2013|
[quote]Typical self-loathing closet case brainwashed by religion
Home schooled by a Fundie mother, he has a lot of brainwashing to overcome. When he went off to college, she moved to a house near the athletic students dorm so she could continue to control him.
While I agree that he's a closet case, it's possible he's not "self-loathing." Maybe he just doesn't know how to deal with being gay and is still learning. I don't think he's a great scholar.
He went out with Taylor Swift so that's five degrees from opening a closet door.

From the Daily Beast:
You don’t have to tell Tim Tebow twice to sit out. The formerly miraculous quarterback has canceled an appearance at the First Baptist Dallas Church, narrowly dodging certain public-image suicide. Pastor Robert Jeffress, who runs the megachurch, has had a few controversial opinions over the years: Muslims promote pedophilia, Mormonism is a cult, and homosexuality shows the degradation of a person’s mind. Tebow, who was slated to speak at the church’s new $130 million building, said that he’ll continue to use the “platform” God has blessed him with to bring faith, hope, and love to those needing a “brighter day.” Which is great, because he really can’t do much while riding the New York Jets’ bench.

Towelroad: Football player Tim Tebow today canceled an April appearance at First Baptist Dallas megachurch, a place of worship whose pastor Robert Jeffress has made extremist statements about Roman Catholics, Mormons, Muslims, gays and lesbians and President Obama.
Apparently Tebow caught a whiff of something on the internet.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||02/21/2013|
New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow came under fire earlier this week for scheduling a speaking engagement at a Baptist megachurch, headed by evangelical reverend Robert Jeffress, in Dallas. Jeffress is a controversial pastor accused of disseminating messages of hate against Muslims, Jews, Mormons, Catholics and homosexuals.
Tebow released a statement Thursday, severing ties with the church leader who does not mesh with his own well-crafted image...
Tebow is used to drawing undue hatred and love from football radicals. It's good to see that he has decided not to throw his rather sizable weight behind a pastor who's preaching hate while distorting a religion based on love.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||02/21/2013|
What does everyone expect? That he's pro gay rights? LOL These bible quoting fanatics are serious about their prejudice...
|by Anonymous||reply 23||02/21/2013|
Don't close this thread! I think it's important that we discuss this!
|by Anonymous||reply 24||02/21/2013|
Just heard that Tebow was never going to speak at the ant-Semitic Church in the first place..according to his rep.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||02/21/2013|
IF his rep said that, it wasn't the truth.
Tebow tweeted that he had been looking forward to being at that church, and then he said he was going withdraw from the event. If he "was never going to speak" at that church, he would not have stated in his tweet that he had been looking forward to it.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||02/21/2013|
"While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ's unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April," Tebow wrote on Twitter, "due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance."
This doesn't match what R25 posted. Who is Tebow's rep, his mother?
|by Anonymous||reply 27||02/21/2013|
Don't blame me...I never liked him.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||02/21/2013|
[quote] New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow
there is your reason
Somewhere else and maybe he wouldn't feel so compelled to decline.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||02/21/2013|
These are telling quotes from the linked CNN article:
"Jeffress pointed out that Tebow is a member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, a fellow SBC church.
'They certainly believe what we do, that salvation is through Christ alone, and about homosexuality. Tim confirmed that to me last night, that they believe exactly what we do about homosexuality.'”

[quote]It's funny that you guys then turn around crying about religious bigots
Yes, because every guy who complains about Fundie bigots is a racist. That really makes sense, r31. OTOH, be careful that people could think you're a hate monger for attempting to insert your racist views into a thread where they weren't even a topic. How many more threads can you turn into a forum for your racism tonight?
|by Anonymous||reply 32||02/21/2013|
Clearly my comments are completely over your head and clearly you don't understand the definition of racism.
My point was not that everyone that complains about religious bigots is a racist. That is not what I said. You can read any number of threads here about most any subject and find prejudice remarks about people of color. It is very disconcerting (to say the least) to visit a random thread and be insulted because of the color of my skin. Bigotry of any kind is wrong and a product of ignorance. However it seems many people here find it to be acceptable when it pertains to people of color. When religious bigotry against gays rears its ugly head that produces outrage among white gay males. My point is simply that you cannot fight hate with hate. You cannot fight prejudice with prejudice. We should be outraged about all bigotry and not pick/choose. I also resent the fact that people of color are not allowed to speak about prejudice without being shouted down as racist. Clearly from so many of the threads that exist here; there is a real problem with prejudice in the gay community. The comments on datalounge speak for themselves.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||02/21/2013|
Here's a good example for you. The thread about the porn star who was found masterbating in the fire station; if i remember correctly someone referred to the man as a "taco bender".
Another example: In the thread about Josh Brolin and Diane Lane; someone commented that Barbra Streisand couldn't have payed for all of Diane Lanes Christmas gifts because Barbra Streisand is Jewish.
I didn't see any outrage.
Just as everyone else here expresses his or her opinion; I am expressing mine.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||02/21/2013|
My guess is you're not black, R33. My guess is you're a freeper white man who wants to adopt a righteous tone indignantly inveighing against "anti-religious bigotry." But you sure are a dumb, moralizing bore no matter what the color of your skin!
|by Anonymous||reply 35||02/22/2013|
So Tebow agrees with Jeffres but his agent figured out that him speaking at this church would hurt his ability to get a job in the NFL
“Tim called me last night and explained to me that because of some things going on in his personal life and his career he needed to steer clear of controversy right now, but that at some other date he would like to come and speak at our church,” Jeffress told CNN by phone from Dallas. “Tim has to do what Tim thinks is best for him right now.”
|by Anonymous||reply 36||02/22/2013|
Thank you for helping prove my point. You're outraged with me because I'm actually standing up to the ignorant racist bullies. You're not however outraged by the numerous ignorant bigoted remarks posted here. You certainly make interesting choices about what to be outraged about. As I mentioned everyone else post their opinions and I am giving mine. I find many of the threads entertaining. However the bigotry is offensive to me. Being that gays are often victims of prejudice; I would hope that they would not inflict their own brand of prejudice on others. It is as simple as that.
I'm not going to get into a name calling match with you. You can proceed with your juvenile name calling now.
I'm sure that if I had posted an ignorant remark that included racial slurs or anti-semetic ramblings; you would have found that more palatable.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||02/22/2013|
This post is about Tebow and his cowardice. Most of us are against racist posts thus this bullshit false argument does not relate to the Tebow thread except as an attempt to change the topic bc a freeper or Tebow fan girl can't deal with the topic.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||02/22/2013|
Pointing out the ignorance of all bigotry and the hypocrisy that exist here is not a false argument. Its a very valid argument. As I said before the thread post overwhelmingly prove my point. Imagine if you were a person of color and you read through some of these threads. How would it make you feel. Now you may find this an inappropriate thread for me to point out the hypocrisy. That's fine with me. However I do disagree. As for the "most of us" who are against racist; the threads here make me doubt your existence. Thank you though for letting me know that you do exist. I'm glad to here that you are here and that you agree with me. I know that you guys must be pleased with my attempt to combat bigotry. We can give each other big hugs now and enjoy the rest of the evening.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||02/22/2013|
Let's get back to Tebow.
Dumb, misunderstood, misguided, totally HAWT Tebow.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||02/22/2013|
Some of us don't have to 'imagine' being a person of color.
Anyways, so happy Timmy boy is being called out. Can't wait until his ass is traded from the Jets. He is such an fake fuck and attention whore who likely believes very little of what he spews.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||02/22/2013|
I thin the hate filled pastor is making things up to the media. He is lying about Tebow agreeing with him in hating on gays. He is pissed off at Tebow for cancelling.
He knows it will be difficult for Tebow to come out and say that he is totally against this Baptist church when he himself is a Baptist.
Let's see how Tebow responds to the lies that this pastor is spreading.
Tebow is religious but he has never said anything hateful to any group.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||02/22/2013|
I wouldn't be surprised if it was his mother who set up this date for him. She's the one who set up the anti-abortion TV ad that he did for Focus on the Family. She doesn't want him to get away from her influence.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||02/22/2013|
You can be sure he cancelled because of the anti-Semitic, anti-mormon angle not because the church is anti-gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||02/22/2013|
He's not distancing himself from the church, he's distancing himself from a controversial pastor - that's the difference. He may one day speak at the church, but it won't be anything publicized. His handlers know what they're doing.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||02/22/2013|
R31 et al - tb:dc
|by Anonymous||reply 48||02/22/2013|
I'm with r43-the pastor is making this shit up-tebow said nothing about speaking in the future at the church and it is clear in tebow's statement that he is not speaking because of what the church stands for.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||02/22/2013|
A pastor, a man of gawd, wouldn't lie!
|by Anonymous||reply 50||02/22/2013|
If he was raised to be a bigot, he'll be a bigot. But now is the time for him to start getting an education in real life.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||02/22/2013|
I do hope that Tebow will speak out against this terrible pastor.
What is this about these pastors? Remember how Obama's inauguration was going to have that hateful pastor speak? The WH did the same thing as Tebow when it found out that the Pastor is virulently homophobic.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||02/23/2013|
It's there policy not mine.

Barbara, you cannot write a simply word correctly, you bigot.
Let me spell it out for you... Go to Hell.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||02/23/2013|
I tolerate lots of things. For instance, I'm tolerating this evening with Rose and Blanche.
