Time to revive the show. Seriously.
MTV was in talks a year ago to bring it back. Daria even wrote a piece for the Huffington Post last year.
The fandom is massive. The DVD set that was put out in 2010 sold out. They had campaigns to get the show released. They came out with a GPS of Daria's voice too.
Daria's quotes are internet memes now, and people have come up with concept artwork of what the cast would look like now.
MTV wanted more episodes, but the producers decided to call it a day and just make a final made-for-tv move 11 years ago.
I want to see them in college.
What do you think?

A live action movie was in the works starring Janeane Garuffalo. Don't know if she's still attached.

The middle daughter of Modern Family is playing the new Daria.

I think people overrated it because they like to imagine they're Daria, too smart for everyone else. It appeals to people's narcissism, similar to those who worship Rachel Maddow. But she ain't all that, and neither are you.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||02/15/2013|
There's no live action version in the works.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||02/15/2013|
I was the same age as Daria when the show was on and Daria WAS the late 90s for me. I can't imagine it out of its element.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||02/15/2013|
I liked her Asian friend Jane.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||02/15/2013|
i was and am a huge fan, but its greatest shortcoming was there never were any gay male characters. there was one somewhat-predatory lesbian, but no gays. Am I the only one noticing this?
|by Anonymous||reply 9||02/15/2013|
It was the 90s. There be no gays in the 90s.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||02/15/2013|
The English (?) teacher seemed gay but then he started hooking up with the angry female science teacher.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||02/15/2013|
I can watch the show in limited doses. The 90s teenaged ennui seems terribly dated, though.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||02/15/2013|
Kids today aren't sardonic enough to appreciate Daria. Pop culture and humor have changed.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||02/15/2013|
LOGO recently had a marathon. Did anyone catch it?
I'd rather watch Daria than endless episodes of Teen Mom!!
|by Anonymous||reply 14||02/15/2013|
If Janeane Garofalo is now attached to a live-action Daria, it would need to be as Daria's grandmother.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||02/15/2013|
She can play the mom. Selena Gomez can play Daria. Anna Camp can play Quinn. Keanu Reeves can play Kevin. Sandra Oh can play Jane. Emma Stone can play Brittany.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||02/15/2013|
Daria ended in 2002.
Daria made numerous gay comments.
Logo is running marathons. Daria and Jane were big ol dykes.

[quote]The fandom is massive.
No hon. No, it isn't.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||02/15/2013|
Yes I noticed it r9, Daria was hyper-liberal about every subject matter but never once said anything pro-gay. The "somewhat-predatory lesbian" was apparently as "pro-gay" as the show got. And aside from Quinn, it wasn't that funny either. Overrated.

I think Trent is the type of guy who fucks alot but is low-key, and laid-back about it.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||06/11/2013|
Jane and Trent were not Asian. God, some of you people are just idiots. (I'm looking at you R16. Fifty-year-old Keanu Reeves playing 17-year-old Kevin?)
Janeane Garofolo could play Daria's aunt, the one that was almost exactly like her. Didn't any of you dopes even watch the show?
|by Anonymous||reply 21||06/11/2013|
If Barbra Streisand at 71 can play Rose in Gypsy with two small children than Janeane Garofolo can play Daria for fucks sake.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||06/11/2013|
OMG, NSFW, R23. I could be the fired.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||06/13/2013|
I liked it at the time (when I was a kid), but watching it now, it's very flat. Daria is sarcastic, but never legitimately funny.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||06/13/2013|
I like it, but it's so completely of its time. Today Daria would likely be a hipster.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||06/13/2013|
R19 Yep, it was very overrated and I hated this show when I was in high school. And no, they didn't discuss gay issues because the 90's was still VERY homophobic. Don't miss that decade a bit.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||06/13/2013|
I loved the show but I kinda went off Daria, especially after that whole Tom debacle. My favorite was Quinn.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||06/13/2013|
There's an obese Jewish woman I don't like but somewhat know through friends on fb, and she is one of those that is a computer geek, extremely left, and an anime freak. She's totally into Daria. It turns me right off.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||06/13/2013|
Instant case of narcolepsy, that's what this show gave me. I don't even think getting high while watching this show would improve it one bit.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||06/13/2013|
It doesn't. R32. I tried. Many times.
