Lou Grant and Mary Richards

I know they had a father/daughter type relationship (except the episode when they dated and kissed), but do you think Lou ever thought about slipping Mary his stubby, fat, hairy sausage?

by Anonymousreply 3403/18/2015

No, he always thought of her as another daughter.

by Anonymousreply 102/14/2013

Lou was in his 40s during the course of the show. 40s have changed a lot since then.

by Anonymousreply 202/14/2013

Damn, OP, that's classy.

You should definitely facebook that.

Your two friends will LOVE it.

by Anonymousreply 302/14/2013

Ed Asner was 41 when the Mary Tyler Moore Show started. He was around 48 in Roots. He looked like an old man already at both ends of the decade.

Nonsense, it is the first of many, many Valentine's day threads.

by Anonymousreply 702/14/2013

I'll bet you were the brightest in your class, weren't you?

by Anonymousreply 802/14/2013

There was an episode where they had a date, Mary cooked dinner for Lou at her apartment (the new one, next door to Laverne). They kissed and both started cracking up laughing. So, yes, there was some sexual tension/awareness, but both realized neither could act on it.

M-m-m-m-m-m-m-Mister Graaaaaaaaaaaaant! Y-y-y-y-y-y-you came in my moooooooooouth!

by Anonymousreply 1002/14/2013

Mary seemed similar in personality to Lou's ex-wife Edie. However, the episode with Lou dating Rhoda seemed strangely natural and charming. They seemed like a great couple unlike Mary and Lou, which was ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 1102/14/2013

"M-m-m-m-m-m-m-Mister Graaaaaaaaaaaaant! Y-y-y-y-y-y-you came in my moooooooooouth!"

Guess Lou isn't the only one who hates spunk (R10)!!

by Anonymousreply 1202/14/2013

Lou didn't like "skinny" women, as he said several times.

by Anonymousreply 1302/14/2013

Every man alive -- gay or straight -- thinks about having sex with co-workers that might be considered attractive, and even some who wouldn't. Whether they act on it or is another story.

by Anonymousreply 1402/14/2013

I'd lick his shitter!

by Anonymousreply 1502/14/2013

I love spunk!

by Anonymousreply 1602/14/2013

Buck never would've asked such a ridiculous question, OP.

by Anonymousreply 1802/14/2013

If I remember correctly, wasn't Sue Ann Nivens (Betty White) hot for Lou?

by Anonymousreply 1902/14/2013

You are correct, R19. Sue Ann was hot for Lou.

by Anonymousreply 2002/14/2013

Maude was 47 when the show started. Archie was 48 or 49 when All in the Family started.

The 40s are very different now.

by Anonymousreply 2102/14/2013

Why not have a thread JUST about the Lou Granite Show?

by Anonymousreply 2203/17/2015

The Lou Grant show had a way different feel from the MTM show. I remember the two young guy and girl reporters in the newsroom who took themselves oh so seriously.

Don't even want to think about Lou and Mary getting it on.

by Anonymousreply 2303/17/2015

No because Lou doesn't like skinny girls. (He said it)

by Anonymousreply 2403/17/2015

[quote] stubby, fat, hairy sausage

Lou was a stud. Nothing stubby about him. He had a long, fat cuntrammer.

by Anonymousreply 2503/17/2015

Straight men fantasize about fucking all women, even ugly fatties.

by Anonymousreply 2603/17/2015

[quote]SOAP THREAD!!!!!!!!

Really? I don't recognize any of these people.

by Anonymousreply 2703/17/2015

It was Murray Slaughter who was in love with Mary Richards. but Murray would never hurt Marie

by Anonymousreply 2803/17/2015

Lou wanted to bang Mary. Hard. Repeatedly.

by Anonymousreply 2903/18/2015

When the dub this show in French, Mary becomes Marie so they renamed Marie, Paula

by Anonymousreply 3003/18/2015

He pushed a SERIOUS basket on the show. I was 10-17 years old through the run of the show.

Lusting after Lou was confusing when I hadn't even had sex yet. But a big solid, mountain of a man with a big round head & a beer can dick is still my type!

Also used to fantasize about having an apartment like Mary's.

by Anonymousreply 3103/18/2015

The first episode that suggested a Lou/Rhoda pairing was when he hired her to redocorate his house and it was a disaster. But even though Lou hated what she did, he expressed his admiration for her because of the way she was yelling at the painters. In the date episode, when Sue Ann commends him for taking out a "last resort", Lou has this dreamy look saying "I had fun, I had a lot of fun." Even though Mary was indeed closer to Edie, personality wise, Rhoda seemed a better match than either.

this thread is so gay it should have its own fanny pack.

by Anonymousreply 3303/18/2015
