Music videos that define the 90's for you

Post them here!

by Anonymousreply 16108/03/2013

Alanis Morrissette's "Ironic" was huge when I was in 10th grade ('96). The music video was a hit, too. My friends and I (gayling me and my 3 faghags) would put the song on in the car and re-enact the entire music video. I was always the one riding shotgun 'cause the others didn't wanna hang outside the window. haha

The song doesn't define the entire decade for me, but it stirs happy memories.

by Anonymousreply 102/13/2013

I know there are a lot of bitches here who hate Celine, but I will adore her forever for :15 in this music video.

by Anonymousreply 202/13/2013

1995

by Anonymousreply 302/13/2013

For some reason "Love Will Never Do Without You" is not on Youtube.

This enrages and confuses me!!!!

This video WAS 90s glamour!

by Anonymousreply 402/13/2013

This video IS the 90s. SHE was the 90s.

She had at least one number one hit every year of the god damned decade for fuck sake.

by Anonymousreply 502/13/2013

When you say "music video" and "1990s" this is first one I always think of:

by Anonymousreply 602/13/2013

Sigh... Stephen Jenkins.

by Anonymousreply 702/13/2013

The 1990s were the best decade for music videos. All those directors went onto become big motion picture directors. Michael Jackson's "Scream" is still the most expensive music video in history. Remember "Black or White," or "Remember The Time"? Madonna's "Vogue"? All of Bjork's music videos. Music videos died after that decade. Some people are starting to make good ones again though.

by Anonymousreply 802/13/2013

1993. I think it still sounds good!

by Anonymousreply 902/13/2013

R4, amen sister! Janet's beauty was at its zenith and she cemented her icon status with this great video.

by Anonymousreply 3702/13/2013

by Anonymousreply 4102/13/2013

"Mo Money, More Problems" Biggie, Mase, & Puffy

I'm not a fan, but that Hype Williams style was so popular in the mid to late 90s and it's one of things I think of when asked about videos that represent the decade.

by Anonymousreply 4202/13/2013

Like a Prayer and Cherish were 89.

FAIL

by Anonymousreply 4302/13/2013

R40 "Like a Prayer" and "Cherish" were from 1989.

Not to be one of the Madonna freaks that post on this board, but this video was a legit big deal when it was released at the beginning of the decade. As she always does, she was able to use the controversy of the video being banned to add to the popularity.

As a result, wasn't this the first video that was released as a single on video cassette? I remember having that tape, but I worked at a record store at the time so I don't remember if I actually spent money on it or it was a promo copy.

And she managed to get a night of Nightline devoted to how she was under attack because her art was being censored, or some such nonsense.

Either way, the video was hot for the time and it counts as one of the videos of the 90s in my eyes.

by Anonymousreply 15408/02/2013

Ditto for this record, although I didn't hate it as much.

Get Serious - Cut 'n Move

by Anonymousreply 15508/02/2013

Ugh.....I just realized that I wasn't following the theme that OP established for the thread.

Those 2 clips I just posted aren't 'videos' that define the decade for me. Rather, they are just records that distinctly remind me of the decade.

My mistake.
