The OFFICIAL State of the Union Address Thread

'cuz someone had to do it.

by Anonymousreply 7002/12/2013

Who is not there?

After the Speaker, who is next in succession?

by Anonymousreply 102/12/2013

Chu, Energy Secretary is not there. He's the designated cabine member.

by Anonymousreply 202/12/2013

Michelle's dress is all wrong.

by Anonymousreply 302/12/2013

Thanks, R2.

Yes, Michelle's dress is all wrong.

by Anonymousreply 402/12/2013

The Congressman who invited Ted Nugent swapped him out for Christopher Dorner at the last minute.

by Anonymousreply 502/12/2013

I missed it, did Obama say hi to the black Supreme Court guy?

by Anonymousreply 602/12/2013

Competing thread. Whichever one hits 20 posts first is the thread.

by Anonymousreply 702/12/2013

Tell Schumer to put his Iphone away.

by Anonymousreply 802/12/2013

by Anonymousreply 902/12/2013

R8 Schumer's playing "Words With Friends" with Gabby Giffords. She's the only one he can beat.

by Anonymousreply 1002/12/2013

Nancy Pelosi dies have a frozen face.

by Anonymousreply 1102/12/2013

Gillibrand works every room as if it were her last. If she wants to move up, and there's nothing she wants more in life, she's got to learn how to be a bit more subtle.

I thought she was going to slip Susan Rice some tongue right there.

by Anonymousreply 1202/12/2013

Your comment is in poor taste, R10.

by Anonymousreply 1302/12/2013

What lackluster applause!

by Anonymousreply 1402/12/2013

I flagged R10 for Wit and Wisdom.

by Anonymousreply 1502/12/2013

R13 Are you new here?

by Anonymousreply 1602/12/2013

I love Obama.

by Anonymousreply 1702/12/2013

Sen. Sherrod Brown looks hot with his new haircut. I love his raspy voice.

by Anonymousreply 1802/12/2013

Me too, r17.

by Anonymousreply 1902/12/2013

Joe stop playing with your homework!!!

Boehner seems to be getting madder and madder. don't they (repugs) realize the more petulant they act, the more immature they appear?

by Anonymousreply 2002/12/2013

Are those miniature decanters in front of the Orange Man?

They look like little, fancy bottles.

by Anonymousreply 2102/12/2013

I didn't see Clarence Thomas there. It isn't a command performance; I believe he doesn't always attend.

by Anonymousreply 2202/12/2013

Who picked out Joe's lavender tie?

by Anonymousreply 2302/12/2013

Lol, they look like an Easter basket.

All those pretty pastel colors.

by Anonymousreply 2402/12/2013

Are you kidding me? This is all we got?

by Anonymousreply 2502/12/2013

Our new motto: We can get this done.

by Anonymousreply 2602/12/2013

Pres Obama consistantly gives McCain credit for barely cooperating yet McCain consistantly acts like a bitter old man towards him.

by Anonymousreply 2702/12/2013

Holy shit I hate sounding shallow.........but this is the dullest State Of The Union speech ever. I eagerly await this each year and I enjoy watching it but tonight something just seems off.......

by Anonymousreply 2802/12/2013

And Schumer has a light orange tie. I did like his satisfied smile when Obama talked about PTech in Brooklyn.

by Anonymousreply 2902/12/2013

"but this is the dullest State Of The Union speech ever"

I recall some of Clinton's that were much duller and longer. Clinton's were virtual laundry lists. Even W.'s were more interesting than some of Clinton's.

by Anonymousreply 3002/12/2013

I'm so glad somebody else finds this deadly dull. It's completely lackluster. This is really Obama at his worst. No energy, charisma, leadership. And I say that even though I agree with almost everything he's saying!

by Anonymousreply 3102/12/2013

Yes! Yes! Oh God, Yes!

by Anonymousreply 3202/12/2013

I so want Joe Biden to walk over and kiss Boehner on the forehead.

by Anonymousreply 3302/12/2013

And WHAT was up with the females not applauding when Obama spoke of equal pay for equal work for women???

by Anonymousreply 3402/12/2013

Biden looks kind of pale and old.

by Anonymousreply 3502/12/2013

well if you find it dull, change the channel.

Who were the scowling bitches shown during the paycheck fairness part?

by Anonymousreply 3602/12/2013

I noticed that too, R34.

Miserable cunts, the lot of them.

They have to be Repugs.

Stupid bitches.

by Anonymousreply 3702/12/2013

It is deadly dull, and seems very much like one of Clinton's "list" SOTU speeches.

by Anonymousreply 3802/12/2013

[quote]Biden looks kind of pale and old.

I thought the same thing! Did he have a rough night drinking?

by Anonymousreply 3902/12/2013

It's the State of the Union Address, not the White Party. It's supposed to be dull.

by Anonymousreply 4002/12/2013

[quote]Biden looks kind of pale and old.

Then again he's sitting in frame with two of the darkest skin tones in the history of the U.S. Government.

by Anonymousreply 4102/12/2013

He apparently scratched the cornea on one of his eyes with his contacts. I've done that and it burns for days.

by Anonymousreply 4202/12/2013

LOL, I just spit out my juice @ R41.

by Anonymousreply 4302/12/2013

LOL, R41.

Who, R42?

by Anonymousreply 4402/12/2013

Joe Biden keeps checking the agenda to see what's on the dinner menu.

why did the Generals not stand during the announcement that troops will come home from Afganistan? They stood up before.

by Anonymousreply 4502/12/2013

They should show Nugent in his seat with the laser sights focused on his chest from the Secret Service guns at the ready if he tries to pull something.

by Anonymousreply 4602/12/2013

So many handjobs to give to so many old white men.

by Anonymousreply 4702/12/2013

Yes, R44. Biden scratched his cornea.

by Anonymousreply 4802/12/2013

What r40 said.

Another thing is that, for the previous four SOTU addresses, hanging in the atmosphere was the question of whether Obama will be re-elected.

The absence of that suspense takes something away from this and that will be so for the next two addresses.

His last SOYU address will be very bittersweet.

by Anonymousreply 4902/12/2013

I've written this on DL before, but I don't think Ruth Bader Ginsburg will make it through 2013 alive.

by Anonymousreply 5002/12/2013

R45, same reason SC Justices don't stand to applaud.

Here are the GOP cunts who shook their heads when Obama mentioned equal pay. Hopefully they're identified and shamed.

Anyone recognize them?

by Anonymousreply 5102/12/2013

The mom from Arrested Development and Katie Couric's sister.

by Anonymousreply 5202/12/2013

Go, Desilene!!!

by Anonymousreply 5302/12/2013

Smart fuckin move bringing in the 102 year old voter. Every fucking vote counts as long as you live.

by Anonymousreply 5402/12/2013

WOW. That was pretty moving. Tears all around.

Even Boehner stood up and clapped for that. FFS.

And it sounds like Obama brought his own cheering crowd to drown out any of those assholes who think they might try to stir shit up.

They've got a LOT of supporters in the crowd this time around. They'll be no "YOU LIE" in this SOTU address.

by Anonymousreply 5502/12/2013

The best moment was with the 102 year old woman.

by Anonymousreply 5602/12/2013

What ever happened to the "you lie" guy?

by Anonymousreply 5702/12/2013

I love seeing people asking for Obama's autograph. They AT the SOTU and they are still star-struck.

I don't recall anyone asking for W's address.

by Anonymousreply 5802/12/2013

Best I've heard ever, and I'm old.

by Anonymousreply 5902/12/2013

Was Tim Cook there with his Asian boyfriend?

by Anonymousreply 6002/12/2013

[quote]What ever happened to the "you lie" guy?

I'm thinking history is already making him look like quite the douchebag today.

by Anonymousreply 6102/12/2013

Rubino is spinning yarn now.

by Anonymousreply 6202/12/2013

He became the primary grammar troll right here on DL, R57.

by Anonymousreply 6302/12/2013

Keith Boykin ‏@keithboykin

After Rubio's disastrous speech, 3 of the top trends on Twitter are Poland Sping, #waterbreak and Bobby Jindal. Not what the GOP wanted.

by Anonymousreply 6402/12/2013

They ejected some woman for shouting for a vote on gun control.

by Anonymousreply 6502/12/2013

No, R16, I've been here for years. I think the comment was in poor taste and not in a good way.

by Anonymousreply 6602/12/2013

No one has mentioned:

"We will ensure equal treatment for all service members, and equal benefits for their families – gay and straight."

by Anonymousreply 6702/12/2013

by Anonymousreply 6802/12/2013

[quote]"We will ensure equal treatment for all service members, and equal benefits for their families – gay and straight."

Pushing things like this is for the Supremes to take notice when they take up Prop 8.

by Anonymousreply 6902/12/2013

[quote]Pushing things like this is for the Supremes

Please, bitch! It's JOHN ROBERTS and the Supremes now!
