Damn those dastardly gays for upsetting good god-fearing and sanctimonious Christians with their freaking disgusting choice! Why can’t they just be born completely intolerant like decent Americans.
No longer going to stand by and watch a bunch of people try to be happy and well-adjusted, a special needs teacher (aren’t they supposed to be more sensitive?) from Sullivan, Indiana is joining a loose coalition of Jesus-loving crusaders in calling for a prom that strictly bans gays from attending since they have “purpose in life”, according to Special Ed Teacher Diana Medley.
WTWO-TV first reported that the group of concerned Christians assembled at Sullivan First Christian Church this past Sunday to discuss a prom that only permitted straight students as an alternative to the inclusive prom at Sullivan High School. Well, good luck finding people to decorate the gosh darn thing.
“We don’t agree with [homosexuality],” special education teacher Diana Medley told the station. “It’s offensive to us.”
“We believe what the Bible says, it says that it’s wrong,”student Bonnie McCammon insisted. “And we love the homosexuals, but we do not condone what they’re doing.” (Raw Story)
Not disrupt this lovely little Bachmann morality play, but it’s pretty clear for those of us who live in the pesky fact-based community that Bravo did not exist in biblical times and therefore sexual orientation was not clearly understood. In fact, the bible does not expressively mention homosexuality . While there are references in the Bible to same-gender sexual behavior, all of which are fairly negative, it’s violence, idolatry and exploitation related to the behavior that’s condemned, not the same-gender nature of the behavior. What does exist in the bible, however, is a passage in the King James version that says “Judge not lest thy be judged,” which poignantly resonates within the gay marriage debate. It really does take an atheist to shut down the young republican crap.
Sex Columnist and LGBT Advocate, Dan Savage, recently used his popular column to urge people to contact the school system over Medley’s comments.
“Students with learning disabilities have it hard enough without getting stuck with a mentally challenged special ed teacher,” Savage wrote. “Take a good look at the condescending, hateful smirk that spreads across Medley’s face when she was asked if gay people have a purpose in life… and then imagine you’re a gay kid in special ed in Sullivan and this hateful bigot is your teacher.” (Raw Story)
It seems the Facebook page supporting the straight prom was magically removed following Savage’s savage column.
