Aren't coffins unnecessarily long?

All of them seem too long. Americans are fat, so they're probably the right width.

It's a waste of wood.

And bathtubs aren't long enough!

Please, get real, get cremated. Who do people think they are? King Tut?

by Anonymousreply 402/11/2013

Cremation is the best way to go. Land is for the living. So many beautiful property given to the dead. Such a waste.

Natural burial is the most green, but it's not widely available, especially when you live in a big city.

It so they have a place to put the garbage bag with your brain and other organs after autopsy.

Well, if we chop off the legs after death, coffins and cemetary plots could be 1/2 as big. This could work out nicely.

The extra space can be useful for the deceased to have a cooler or TV or what have you.

I should add that the legs could be stuffed in the coffin with the torso.

by Anonymousreply 1102/12/2013

People are buried in "caskets." Coffins went the way of the black and white cowboy movies where we used to see them.
