Things I have noticed about society

Every country no matter how rich will have a small group of people who's rich and a small group of people who are poor. Why is that? It's almost like the ying and yang concept. There must be rich and poor people no matter what. Why do you think that is?

Go to bed, Umpy.

there is always an underclass so the upper class have people to feel superior to

by Anonymousreply 202/10/2013

Capitalism is built on exploiting a pool of people at the bottom who are paid low wages and are not able to garner enough resources to move out of being low income or in poverty.

by Anonymousreply 302/10/2013

Almost all countries have a small group of rich people and a very large group of poor people.

by Anonymousreply 402/10/2013

If there were no poor, how would you know you were rich?

by Anonymousreply 502/10/2013

What [R3] said

by Anonymousreply 602/10/2013

In my country the population split is 1% rich, 10% middle class and the rest are dirt poor.

One thing I have noticed is that the so-called poor in America who live in trailers filled with every kind of appliance and have two or more cars would be considered middle class in most other countries.

by Anonymousreply 702/10/2013

Agree, R7. I'm American and my family were considered at the poverty level. We still managed to have two computers, a wardrobe full of clothes for every member of the household, major appliances, air conditioning, internet connection etc.

Apparently society knows what's good for its people even before they are born.

by Anonymousreply 902/10/2013

Have you never heard of hunter-gatherer societies, OP?

They neither accumulate nor unevenly distribute wealth.

by Anonymousreply 1002/10/2013

Are you 12 years old OP?

by Anonymousreply 1102/10/2013

Well, OP may sound innocent, but it doesn't have to be this way. It is totally artificial, just like everything else in society. It's that way because society is made that way, OP. And there are more poor people than you think.

by Anonymousreply 1202/10/2013

OP has never been to Mexico. Or any 3rd world country for that matter. Which is like 3/4 of the world.

by Anonymousreply 1302/10/2013

Some people work; others leech.

by Anonymousreply 1402/10/2013

R9 = Ann Romney

by Anonymousreply 1502/10/2013

Thank you, R11, my thoughts exactly.

What the fuck, OP?

by Anonymousreply 1602/10/2013

YIN and yang, dear.

by Anonymousreply 1702/10/2013

You're referring to the eternal battle between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie, OP. Basically what R3 said is, and will forever be correct as long as capitalism exists.
