Police Officers Back Gay Colleague's Claim That Mayor Called Him 'Queer'

by Anonymousreply 502/09/2013

I think people need to get over the name-calling sensitivity. Esp. if you use it yourself or amongst friends. It's just a word. It makes the namecaller look stupid and bigoted, and that should be enough 'punishment' for them.

R1, perhaps in high school people need to get over it. She is an elected politician and name calling shouldn't be tolerated by government officials. Poopyhead.

This is Appalachia - as backwoods redneck as it gets.

R3--Did you miss the part where the cop has the full support of his colleagues in the police department? Not everyone in a small town is an asshole.

Did you bother to read the article, R1? She was out to get him fired the moment she found out he's gay. Had she known he's gay before he was hired, she would have opposed the hiring (she was on the hiring committee) She's spit out these words in fit of pique running around trying to figure out how to get rid of him. One of her tactics was filing complaints when his partner visited the station although it's common for spouses to visit. The Chief of Police wrote six page statement in his support. How many would do that?
