COLT Porn Star Legend Karim Dead At 52

COLT Porn Star Legend Karim Dead At 52

BY ON TOP MAGAZINE STAFF; PUBLISHED: FEBRUARY 08, 2013

Gay porn star Karim, real name Christian Bouthillette, has died. He was 52.

According to the Florida Agenda, Bouthillette was found in his Wilton Manors, Florida apartment “unattended” in a bath tub on Monday, January 28. He lived in the high rise with his partner, Frank Anguiuli.

Officials have ordered a toxicology report to determine an exact cause of death. Speculation includes a massive heart attack, possibly brought on by an overdose. (Bouthillette was recently arrested for cocaine-related offenses.)

Bouthillette modeled for COLT studio.

“It is with a heavy heart that we report that we have lost one of our most cherished COLT Men from the COLT history books and as of recent, Mr. COLT Man Karim,” the studio wrote in a blog post.

Ken Hunt, the owner of New York City-based Steel Gym, had employed Bouthillette as a personal trainer.

“I remember being at Fort Lauderdale Beach with him last year,” Hunt said. “He was very friendly, but I remember him saying that it was funny how most people only saw him as this big muscular guy, how they felt they 'knew' him from his fame as a Colt model. But that wasn't the deeper part of Christian. It's really a terrible loss.”

by Anonymousreply 5803/09/2013

Legend? When was he active? Did he only work for Colt?

by Anonymousreply 802/08/2013
Love how the pron freaks refuse to acknowledge there are problems with the industry.

Apart from all the other industries which care for the people who work for it so very much?

by Anonymousreply 902/08/2013
wait so you are denying that the best years of one's life are when one is young? I mean, in general?

I'll deny it. Unless you're very sad, unimaginative, lazy, and aimless, the time you're in now should be your best. In general, the smarter and more experienced you are, the more you enjoy life, so stop mythologizing your 20s.

by Anonymousreply 1002/08/2013

exactly, r6 It's how one defines 'best years', as well as 'successful' and 'rich'.

In my fifties and experiencing the best years of my life NOW. I've been noticeably happier more the last couple years than at any point in my life, and expect it to bet even better.

I believe it's because of the acquired wisdom I've gathered over the years, exercising an open mind.

by Anonymousreply 1102/08/2013
they freak out and refuse to acknowledge the gay porn industry is full of users.

no worse in my opinion than pointing out that the banking industry is full of liars and tax cheats.

by Anonymousreply 1202/08/2013

R5 Completely agree. All you have to do is look at all of these people dying at relatively young ages under suspicious circumstances to see that getting in that industry almost never ends well. The "stars" have such a short shelf life and are so easily replaced that once their run is over, they don't know how to cope.

by Anonymousreply 1302/08/2013

Don't tell me-Florida again ?

by Anonymousreply 1402/08/2013
Don't tell me-Florida again ?

Exactly! It's so strange that people in Florida actually die. Thanks for pointing that out, R14.

by Anonymousreply 1502/08/2013

What kind of money are porn stars paid?

by Anonymousreply 1602/08/2013

As long as porn stars are looked at as being socially marginal people, they will end up on the margin. In other words, the "problem with this industry", as one poster puts it, lies more in the people who use porn than in the people who perform it.

by Anonymousreply 1702/08/2013

I imagine it's less the porn and more the escorting.

by Anonymousreply 1802/08/2013

We had this thread last week. No one knew who he was.

by Anonymousreply 1902/08/2013
wait so you are denying that the best years of one's life are when one is young? I mean, in general?

I'm not the person you're addressing, but I would deny that too.

Why would the best years of your life be when one is young? That's when I had no money and was emotionally unstable and not sure of what I wanted in life. Now I make decent money, I have a great job, and I'm much calmer.

You need to clarify why you think the years when you are young are the best years of people's lives. Clearly many people here disagree with you about that out of hand.

by Anonymousreply 2002/08/2013

I'd hardly call him a "legend."

by Anonymousreply 2102/08/2013
In other words, the "problem with this industry", as one poster puts it, lies more in the people who use porn than in the people who perform it.

if that's their attitude toward their customers, no wonder porn performers are so fucked up.

by Anonymousreply 2202/08/2013

I'm having trouble keeping up with all the porn deaths lately.

Don't think I knew this one. Before my time.

by Anonymousreply 2302/08/2013

I would like to read "he died at 91 from natural causes" instead of he committed suicide, succumbed to AIDS, died from heart disease, overdosed on drugs or was killed by a straight trick. It's not just a porn thing, it's the entire gay community. Gay people lack mental fortitude. You see this in action with how easily gay men cry. Gay people lack large social networks. Gay people need to try harder.

by Anonymousreply 2402/08/2013

I disagree, R24. Society needs to try harder... for starters, it needs to be be less dismissive and less abusive. The wonder is that every gay man and lesbian is [italic]not[/italic] suffering from PTSD!

by Anonymousreply 2502/08/2013

"I remember him saying that it was funny how most people only saw him as this big muscular guy, how they felt they 'knew' him from his fame as a Colt model. But that wasn't the deeper part of Christian."

So, so insightful. May choirs of versatile bottoms sing him to his sleep.

by Anonymousreply 2602/08/2013

"wait so you are denying that the best years of one's life are when one is young? I mean, in general?"

It's statements like these that make me feel sorry for some people.

And as for the truth of it - well, if it's *your* truth, then own it for yourself. But don't for a second try to fob it off as some demonstrable, empirical fact.

Sure, my metabolism may have been faster in my 20s - but other than that they sucked. It was time of insecurity, penury, anxiety and gross exhaustive striving.

Now at 41 I'm financially secure, aware of my place in the world and don't really give a fuck about others opinions and expectations.

Personally, I look forward to what life has to offer as I get older.

by Anonymousreply 2702/08/2013

Are this many straight porn stars dropping dead every other week? It's a much bigger industry thsn the gay porn industry, but all I hear of are dead gay porn stars or their mugshots splashed all over websites.

by Anonymousreply 2802/08/2013

He truly was the people's Princess.

by Anonymousreply 2902/08/2013

Another dead pornie.

Pass the jelly.

by Anonymousreply 3002/08/2013

What exactly makes these adult entertainers 'legends' or 'stars'? A legend in their own mind, maybe. Or maybe it speaks to the larger problem in the gay community -- that we tend to objectify ourselves and place high importance on this type of profession.

Why is it that most of the gay youth I'm exposed to lately aspire to become a porn star, or a stripper, or an escort or a drag queen on RuPauls drag race?

It's sad that 'Karim' has died. However why does he deserve reverence in the gay community over any other gay person that passes? What about that gay doctor that silently serves in the ER every day that passes away. Or the gay teacher? Or the gay public servant? Why is it we only seem to point out the passing of porn stars and drag queens?

There's something wrong here, and I hope I'm not the only person who sees it.

by Anonymousreply 3102/08/2013

The best years of one's life are when one is young? HAHAHAHAHA. Oh, that's a laugh. The other posters have nailed it succinctly. Young people may have smooth unlined faces but they also cannot find their ass with both hands. Drama and dysfunction. Mistake after mistake. No money. Unstable. You pick the wrong friends. You get your heart handed to you on a platter when some assclown guy breaks it. And he will. More than once. You go out to clubs and think you are the shit, that everyone "wants" you or you aspire to that. Vapid. Empty. Shallow. Like fast food, it is fleeting. The thrill leaves very soon after the trick leaves the apartment. And he leaves a tiny apartment that you either share with other dumbasses or you cannot afford. Every day is a drama. Did you get into the right college? Did you make the "A?" Did you do "everything right?" Are you pleasing everyone? Are you wearing the right clothes? Are you going to the "cool" places? Are you keeping up Do you know all the cool music? Do you reference all the "in" stuff? Are you tweeting and texting? It is EXHAUSTING being young. The best years of life are NOW, whatever age one is but I would wager that older people are happier than younger. Young people TELL themselves that they are happy but they don't have enough life experience to figure any of that out. Everything is cause and effect, a learning curve. You don't know what you don't know.

As another poster stated, I am now in my 50's and these are the happiest, best times of my life. For a bazillion reasons.

by Anonymousreply 3202/08/2013

I notice r7 has yet to explain why the younger years are the best of one's life, though many people have by this point asked him to explain himself.

by Anonymousreply 3302/08/2013

Not very compassionate, are you, R34?

by Anonymousreply 3502/08/2013

You nailed it r32

Having said that as a society we worship youth and beauty so it can be two edged sword.

Frankly I would love to look like I did at 20 ( 44) but be that person never ever ever.I am surprised I have friends from then who still love me.A more fucked up person would be hard to find.

But most of us look back on the lovely photos of our youth and say oh I look so nice it wasn't so bad - yep actually it was .

Never never again.Thank god I am 44.
According to the Florida Agenda, Bouthillette was found in his Wilton Manors, Florida apartment “unattended” in a bath tub on Monday, January 28.

I think that people need to quit taking baths when they're high on drugs. Not a good combo.

by Anonymousreply 3702/08/2013

No one as hot as he was should've been taking a bath alone.

by Anonymousreply 3802/08/2013

“unattended” in a bath tub" ??? Who has bath tub attendants? More details please.

by Anonymousreply 3902/08/2013

Is a serial killer, killing porn stars?

by Anonymousreply 4002/08/2013

Who Is Killing the Great Porn Stars of America?

by Anonymousreply 4102/08/2013

R25 No, gay people need to try harder on themselves. You can't control how others act. The first thing gay people should improve is their mental fortitude.

by Anonymousreply 4202/08/2013

R17= marginally retarded.

DRUGS and ALCOHOL, idiot. These guys are addicts, and are easily exploited by the sex industry. I'm so tired of this "sex positive" bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 4302/08/2013
The "stars" have such a short shelf life and are so easily replaced that once their run is over, they don't know how to cope.

It's unfortunate, but what is supposed to be done? No one forced them to be in porn.

by Anonymousreply 4402/09/2013

Did he ever bottom?

by Anonymousreply 4502/09/2013

I love the posters saying their 50's are great - it's good to hear. I'm in my mid 40's, but my 20's relatively sucked, 30's were very good but my 40's are much better.

Carry on.

by Anonymousreply 4602/09/2013

R45 As far as I know, he only made a few interactive (i.e., not solo) videos, and he didn't bottom. The limited number of videos is why I questioned his "legend" status. I don't know whether he bottomed off screen.

by Anonymousreply 4702/09/2013

[R11 and R32]

thank you. I am glad to read that I am not the only man to be happier now than I was in my 20's. I'm 45 and loving it. Single. Good friends. My health. And enough money to have a little fun. And the best part? At this point, I don't give a shit about other people judging me. Life is too short.

wishing you all a good weekend,

c

by Anonymousreply 4802/09/2013

Whether your best years are early or later - so many variables.

Bad stuff happens to good people. Frequently, that stuff is life-changing. Some people recover and thrive, others wither and die.

I enjoyed my late 20's through my mid-30's best. Life is kind of boring now. My shit is together, more or less, but not much excitement anymore.

Maybe I need a vacation.

by Anonymousreply 4902/11/2013

Does anyone know Christian Bouthillette's birth data? I'm into astrology &'d like to look his chart up. Frank's data also. Some on here said they never heard of him. A legend? well no. He didn't do that much as a model. But he was v muscular, so I noticed him. Brian Cerf & he did a stunning duo on Colt, whatever yr it was (in the early 90s?) I assume Frank Angiulli, his partner - & Brian Cerf are one & the same. Altho Frank's face looks diff at this point in time - I didn't recgnze him as that same yng hndsme dude, Brian. [One thing abt their Colt pairing: it annoyed me that Karim/Christian didn't have a hard-on while Brian/Frank did; that beautifully built Brian (in a way his body - esp his luscious ass, ws better than Karim's - IMO) Brian looked like he was v much in love w Karim, but it wasn't returned - that Karim seemed bored, like this was a gay-for-pay assgnmnt. So I was surprsd Christian ws gay & that they were a pair in real life.] Anyone know what the facts were - when they first got together, etc? All those commentatrs on here who diss others - for lack of empathy or imaginatn as to why pple do various things in life - trying to find their way - it is sad for the dissers. They will hv to go thru much suffering in th future - w little sympthy frm othrs - what we gv out we get bck - if not immdiatly - in this incarnatn- evntually. For sure.

Steroids...Nuff said!

by Anonymousreply 5203/09/2013

OK, found out Karim/Christian Bouthillette was born Oct 1, 1960 in Montreal. Don't knw th time of day - that's imprtnt. But here's a v brief overview of his chart: Needed to b boss (in most things), but not necssrly in bed. He idealzd sex & Love. If he found u sexy he cld easily fall in lov w u. Then he wantd v much to please u sexlly - by no means selfish re sex. Once in lov he lovd forevr! Sex & lov went part & parcel with him - didn't separate th 2 (as many pple can). Also, prbbly went from one extrme to anthr re STDs. V careful & concernd, v careless. In generl was driven. Wantd to b a sucess - as he himslf defined it. So wld work on hmslf & push hmslf constnly. Was envious of males w muscles. In beginng th lack of his own muscle vis-a-vis othr men was a real motivator. He liked beautfl "idealzd" muscle as opposd to brute strnght. Mch tkn w dreamng abt & analyzng romance, lov, sex & muscle & exercisng - all f them were combined in hs mind. Sweet talker whn he wanted to b. Money burnd a hole in hs pockt. High temper. For th underdog. Loved strollng along any river, lake, ocean. Soothng to him. Dreamng undr a shower or in a bathtub (ironic, he died in one!) Prbbly a good swmmr. Was he bi? Certainly mature women, starting w his mothr got on his nerves, knew how to push his buttns & annoy him. His fathr was v strct w him & pushd him hard. Wntd to get away from both parents for various reasons. Altho th later on in th day he was born he got - & v mch appreciatd, his mthr's love. But th later on in the day he was born wld hv emphszd power struggles w his mthr; disagreemnts re his sexl orientatn probble - whtvr choics he md wld hv dspleasd her. Got along well w children. Liked his nieces & nephews. Loved music, art; prbbly creatve, should hv had some kind f artistc outlet. Excllnt w his hands (yes, in bed! but here I was referng as a crftsmn!) A handyman, esp a natural-born plumber. Didn't mind dealng w shit. Attitude was: No big deal, it's part of life! Ambivalent re money - my guess is amassing it didn't mean that much to him. Enough for now....

“unattended” in a bath tub on Monday"

Can't black folks bathe alone?

by Anonymousreply 5403/09/2013

I had been watching this guy for years in pics, and absolutely loved his looks, especially in the younger pics, before he became a silver daddie. Didn't know anything about him, but imagined he was middle eastern - either Iranian or Eygptian. I know he died from ' a massive heart attack' - the same thing that has recently killed much younger porn stars . They both did steroids - any proof now that roids damage the heat that extensively ? I knew the liver, kidneys , etc. Sorry to sound so ignorant, but medically, I know nothing. RIP Christian

by Anonymousreply 5503/09/2013

Brett Mycles, Josh Weston, Adam Faust, Erik Rhodes, & now Karim - deaths all listed as ' heart attack'. I think Mycles was only in his 20's. Yes, all roided, and all heart deaths.

by Anonymousreply 5603/09/2013

^ Josh Weston died of an HIV-related heart infection. It's been speculated that he was careless about taking meds due to meth addiction.
