Time Magazine Cover: MARCO RUBIO: THE REPUBLICAN SAVIOR
|by Anonymous||reply 74||02/14/2013|
TIME is worse than PRAVDA with its propagandistic use of halos and shadows and buzz-words like "savior."
|by Anonymous||reply 1||02/07/2013|
Wouldn't Latinos have to like Rubio in order for him to be seen as a savior?
|by Anonymous||reply 2||02/07/2013|
He's had some shady dealing in the past. His mother has had some underworld connections, too.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||02/07/2013|
What the 'cranks, haters and bigots' believe
|by Anonymous||reply 4||02/07/2013|
He's way too preacher-like in his oration, people dislike that.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||02/07/2013|
The Catholic-Mormon-Evangelical-Catholic-Evangelical thing creeps me out.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||02/07/2013|
Time Magazine has a track record of being...stupid:
|by Anonymous||reply 7||02/07/2013|
PPP Had Hillary beating him even in Texas, if she runs the GOP in its present state could run Jesus Christ and still lose!
|by Anonymous||reply 8||02/07/2013|
He looks like a pasty white boy to me.
And all the different Latino nationalities hate one another - they're worse than Western Europeans - so I don't they'll be 'unified' anytime soon.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||02/07/2013|
R9 is correct.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||02/07/2013|
And all the different Latino nationalities hate one another
Ha! You've got that right. When I was in Colombia, I made sure not to mention that I was going to Ecuador. In Peru, I didn't mention that I had been in Ecuador. They've been having centuries of border wars.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||02/07/2013|
Wrong. Obama has never run the preacher pulpit, r10.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||02/07/2013|
He wants to outlaw abortion and gay marriage, so he's not likely to attract many women or young people. His fiscal policies are on par with Paul Ryan's, so he will lost the older vote to Hillary once they hear about his plans for SS and Medicare. Obama probably would've won the older vote in 2012 had he been white.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||02/07/2013|
And in 2016 a lot more of those asshole older people will have died off and the country will be even more Democratic.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||02/07/2013|
Proving once again that the right simply doesn't get it.
They thought simply choosing a woman as VP would get them the WH. No need to pay attention to who the woman was, what she stood for and that she was a dolt. It was enough she had a vagina!
This Rubio thing is even dumber because he's Cuban, and they think that's enough to appeal to anyone Hispanic.
The GOP has become the Keystone cops of political parties. Bumbling idiots.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||02/07/2013|
R9, is not right. Latinos don't hate each other like eastern Europeans do. The majority stick together regardless of where they are from.
With that said, white republican Cubans are seen as snobs by the majority of Latinos.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||02/07/2013|
He wants to outlaw abortion
And he's not too happy about contraception either.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||02/07/2013|
He's a fraud. And no savior.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||02/07/2013|
Why would any Latino/Hispanic in their right mind vote for this guy, or any other Republican.
Karl Rove will string them along just to get their votes, just like he's done with fundamentalist Christians, and then forget about their asses once Republicans are in power, so they can continue their war on the poor and middle class.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||02/07/2013|
The publication prominently features a picture of a defiant Rubio under the headline, “The Republican Savior: How Marco Rubio became the new voice of the GOP.”
What is he defying? Balding?
|by Anonymous||reply 21||02/07/2013|
And in 2016 a lot more of those asshole older people will have died off and the country will be even more Democratic.
Republicans have just rigged it so that they win.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||02/07/2013|
Cuban Americans have traditionally fallen into the right-wing category, being exiles from Castro's Cuba and thus vehemently anti-Communist. I don't know whether or not newer generations of Cuban Americans identify politically that way or not, but certainly Puerto Ricans, who are natural born American citizens, and Latin Americans like Mexicans, who may well be from right-wing hellholes themselves, aren't necessarily primed to fall in love with someone like Rubio just because he can speak Spanish (though probably not in the same accent or dialect.)
|by Anonymous||reply 23||02/07/2013|
Frankly, I don't think he's very smart. A step up from Palin maybe but that's not saying much. A Presidential campaign would reveal it quickly.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||02/07/2013|
Republican savior? No way, no how. Undoubtedly he would have strong appeal to the Cuban community in Florida, but beyond that... no. Cubans are already disproportionately Republican compared to other Latinos, but other Latinos really don't like Cubans.
I could see him potentially winning Florida in 2016, which would certainly help the sad Republican cause, but he would have even less appeal than Mittens in the midwest or Virginia, which are critical for the Republicans to get back.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||02/07/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 26||02/07/2013|
He is hot though.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||02/07/2013|
I do think the Dems are almost backed into a corner and need to nominate either a minority or a woman. Both if possible -one a Veep.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||02/07/2013|
Fuck Rubio -- who the hell cares about this lame idiot!
|by Anonymous||reply 29||02/07/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 30||02/07/2013|
He's not darker than Boehner!
|by Anonymous||reply 31||02/07/2013|
I thought Bobby Jindal was the Republican savior?
Wasn't Mitt the Republican Savior?
What happened to Sarah P. the Republican Savior?
And Paul Ryan the Republican Savior?
The only thing that will save the republicans will be when they change their views, principals and polices.
Until then they are toast.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||02/07/2013|
he's not EVEN hot.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||02/07/2013|
He's the Anti-Christ.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||02/07/2013|
Already we know that Rubio has lied about his family and their exile from Cuba.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||02/07/2013|
The only 3 Latinos in the Senate are Cuban (Rubio, Menendez, Cruz) and Cubans don't even make up a tenth of the Hispanic population of the US.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||02/07/2013|
I would like him to be my daddy.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||02/07/2013|
Both senators from California are Jewish women. Jews are probably far less than 1/10 the total population of women.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||02/07/2013|
He's never going to stay clean for another 4 years. He will be caught cheating on one thing or another.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||02/07/2013|
If he were the actual savior, I'd be kneeling a lot more often in worshiping his uncut Cuban pinga.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||02/07/2013|
Rubio is a loser. Is it any wonder my auto-correct changes "Rubio" to "dubious?"
|by Anonymous||reply 41||02/07/2013|
Gross, he's a balding, fat, and greasy.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||02/07/2013|
[italic]Time[/italic] would be accurate had it placed this cover headline along with its picture of the U.S. Senator from Florida:
[bold]"Marco Rubio: The One Republican We Most Want to Suck Off"[/bold]
|by Anonymous||reply 43||02/07/2013|
The national media has no idea that all people who speak Spanish do NOT consider themselves to be brothers/sisters. Ask a Cuban American what they think of Mexicans or Puerto Ricans. Ask a Puerto Rican what they think of Mexicans. There is a definite pecking order and they will be happy to explain it to you.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||02/07/2013|
R43 has godawful taste.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||02/07/2013|
WTF? Is Time magazine serious? I'm not reading this issue.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||02/07/2013|
We HATE Cubans. We are indifferent or even well-disposed to any other Hispanic grouping (O.K., except for Salvadoreans), but the mere mention of Cubans brings on the bitchface.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||02/07/2013|
Marco Rubio has about as much chance of being president as Time has staying relevant.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||02/07/2013|
With that said, white republican Cubans are seen as snobs by the majority of Latinos.
Latinos have a word for guys like Rubio--Coconut.
It means brown on the outside but white on the inside.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||02/07/2013|
Repugs are ridiculously stupid. They truly believe that minorities are so desperate for "the first" that they'll just vote for anyone who happens to be a member of their particular group regardless of that person capabilities, accomplishments, and political ideology. You want the first to be accomplished, intelligent, and capable. You also want someone who you agree with politically. Would you vote for just any gay guy or woman to be president? Repugs are being offensive without even realizing it.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||02/07/2013|
A Venezuelan friend once told me that Argentineans are considered a snottier bunch than Cubans.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||02/07/2013|
R47 Possibly, but I doubt there are enough Argentinians or Venezuelans to constitute a voting bloc in this country.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||02/07/2013|
He does not have a nice, warm, moist inviting anus...
|by Anonymous||reply 53||02/07/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 54||02/08/2013|
Oh, he'll be packaged as a nice, sane, humane guy. On abortion or gay marriage or DOMA, he'll say things like "I haven't come to a final decision. I think it should be up to the states. Everyone should be treated equally, not special." And some people will fall for that. And he will lose. And the GOP will be on its way to joining the Whigs or the Bull Moose parties in obscurity.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||02/08/2013|
The "we" is speaking for [italic]Time[/italic]; not gay men.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||02/08/2013|
Greg Gutfeld compared Rubio to Obama saying that just like Obama saved the Dems in 2008, Marco could do that for the GOP in 2016.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||02/08/2013|
keep dreamin' greg gutfeld!
|by Anonymous||reply 58||02/08/2013|
He needs to save his fucking hair first.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||02/08/2013|
"I don't know, man, one of the great mysteries"
|by Anonymous||reply 60||02/08/2013|
What r48 said
|by Anonymous||reply 61||02/08/2013|
I could see him potentially winning Florida in 2016
Possibly, but as the Poll Troll posted recently, Rubio is currently trailing Hillary in Florida.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||02/08/2013|
Cubans don't like being mistaken for the Mexicans they look down upon.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||02/08/2013|
We need to do a remake of West Side Story with Mexicans and Cubans.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||02/08/2013|
Quinnipiac is out with a new poll today that has Hillary Clinton at 61% approval, making her the most popular politician in the country by a wide margin. She's 10 points ahead of Obama and has double the popularity of Rubio.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||02/08/2013|
The fundamental issue with the GOP is that it's pretty hard to convince anyone with a conscience that "Greed is good" which, when you get right down to it, is the GOP's entire fiscal platform.
Not to mention that most of the civilized world has moved past the whole abortion and equal rights thing except the Grand Ole' Fogey Party.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||02/08/2013|
This piece of shit surely knows he cannot compete with Hillary Fucking Clinton.
Plus, the GOP primaries are going to be a shitshow again. An embarrassment of losers.
The only Repug who stands a chance at possibly winning is the only one who is sullied from the outset: Jeb Bush
|by Anonymous||reply 67||02/08/2013|
Remember though that we don't know whether Hillary will run in 2016 yet.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||02/08/2013|
A better cover headline, surely, than
CHRIS CHRISTIE: THE REPUBLICAN FAT FUCK
|by Anonymous||reply 69||02/08/2013|
Argentinians don't really consider themselves "Hispanic," per se. since they are mostly 100% caucasian and there are also many Argentinians who are of non-Spanish ancestry, such as Italian and German.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||02/08/2013|
They are delusional
|by Anonymous||reply 71||02/09/2013|
Marco Rubio is a bigger liar than Hillary Clinton, and that's a damn high bar.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||02/09/2013|
Last year, Romney was all the GOP got? Now, Rubio is what they've got? SMH
|by Anonymous||reply 73||02/14/2013|
It's almost like the Repugs can't find one single Mexican person in all of America and get their opinion on Rubio. They'd have their eyes opened quickly about their "well, he's one of them Spanish-types" idiocy. I mean, can't they ask their illegal lawn guys or nannies?
|by Anonymous||reply 74||02/14/2013|
