9-year-old gives birth: Officials are looking for the 17-year-old father
A 9-year-old child gave birth to a baby girl on Jan. 27, 2013 at the Zoquipan hospital in Jalisco, Mexico.
At the time of pregnancy, she was eight years old and apparently the father is a 17-year-old who has not been located, according to a report from ABC on Feb. 6.
Prosecutors have began searching for the father of the child that was born to the 9-year-old and authorities say this bizarre pregnancy may be a case of rape or child sexual abuse.
“Due to her young age and to the fact that her body was not ready to give birth,” says Dr. Enrique Rabago, director of Zoquipan Hospital“the medical team decided a C-Section was the best option” for both mother and child."
The baby was born healthy and both the 9-year-old mother and daughter were discharged, but the hospital said it will be closely monitoring the baby's development due to the young age of her mother.

How is it biologically possible for an eight year old to get pregnant?
|by Anonymous||reply 1||02/06/2013|
It's called precocious puberty. We have it in the U.S. too. Lots of girls begin developing at 8.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||02/06/2013|
R2, yes, they may begin developing precociously, but it must be quite rare for a girl aged 8 to be having menstrual periods which are necessary to get pregnant.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||02/06/2013|
Why the fuck didn't the mother take the child for an abortion?! That is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard...Jesus Christ! I'd like to kill her mother. What is her mothers name?
|by Anonymous||reply 4||02/06/2013|
Probably hormones in milk products.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||02/06/2013|
[quote] Why the fuck didn't the mother take the child for an abortion?!
It happened in Mexico.
Catholics, ya know.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||02/06/2013|
R4, why is your outrage only for the mother? What about her father? Was he not capable of taking her for an abortion?
Also, where is your outrage at the 17-year-old who impregnated the child? And the modifying of "a case of rape or child sexual abuse" with "may be"?
|by Anonymous||reply 7||02/06/2013|
I see I missed half of the story.
I do believe I would kill the 17 year old, if he is really the father. I mean, I would cut his dick off but only if I were sure.

She was probably worried she would be excommunicated.
My "favorite" comment from one of those past articles was the 'how do you explain to a 9-year-old that you are aborting her babies when she knew her life wasn't in danger?' I want to know how you explain to a 9 year-old why she got pregnant in the first place.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||02/06/2013|
That's crazy. 9 years older than your child. Hi, I'm Consuela, and I'm 40 years old. This is my daughter Conchita, she's 31."
"I thought she was your sister."
"Everyone says that."

It's been proven that girls in warmer climates develop earlier, and thus normal for 8-year-olds to have periods. While some families encourage girls to seek out older and supposedly more mature and wealthier boyfriends, the fact that the 17-year-old father abandoned the girl is a bad sign. I wonder if he paid money for her virginity. Still, even is she was poor, I can't see her parents allowing an abortion in such a Catholic country.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||02/06/2013|
R13, You obviously come from a different culture where it's not normal for very young looking 13-year-olds to give birth or be married, sometimes to 17-year-old men. I do agree 8 is a little young, but it's not uncommon in Africa either.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||02/06/2013|
Did you know that even years and years ago one could even buy a 3-year-old little boy or girl for "short-term use" in the poor areas of Mexico?
|by Anonymous||reply 16||02/06/2013|
This is so nice! Pretty soon they can attend school together!

[quote]Jesus Christ! I'd like to kill her mother. What is her mothers name?
Probably Shirley MacLaine.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||02/06/2013|
It really wasn't all that long ago, in the grand scheme of things, when a 13 year old girl was considered an old maid. And I believe on those radical Mormon Compounds 12 is getting a little long in the tooth.
While the rest of us have progressed, some places haven't. And my friend, a teacher, has a pregnant 13 year old in her class.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||02/06/2013|
"My "favorite" comment from one of those past articles was the 'how do you explain to a 9-year-old that you are aborting her babies when she knew her life wasn't in danger?' "
But carrying a pregnancy to term DOES endanger the life of a little nine-year-old! So, I'd like to add the girl's doctor to the list of people we're angry at. Any doctor who had the girl's physical and psychological welfare at heart would have arranged for termination, on the grounds that she had a right to live to the age of ten.
PS: Another reason girls are entering puberty earlier is hormones and soy products in foods.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||02/06/2013|
"It really wasn't all that long ago, in the grand scheme of things, when a 13 year old girl was considered an old maid"
Um, no. Even in the colonial days it was not normal for people to get married at 13. Most people married in their late teens or early 20s. You are making silly generalizations without the statistics to back them up.
"I do agree 8 is a little young, but it's not uncommon in Africa either."
A "little young" - please. And, no, it is not common in Mexico for people to get married at 13 or to have babies at 8.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||02/06/2013|
She'll be a grandmother by the time she graduates high school. Oh wait--she won't be graduating high school.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||02/06/2013|
[quote]thus normal for 8-year-olds to have periods
|by Anonymous||reply 23||02/06/2013|
Clearly the girl will be raised by the grandparents, until she's at least in her teens, when maybe the birth mother will take over. So the mother could complete high-school, I'm sure.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||02/06/2013|
Can't early puberty be brought on by molestation?
|by Anonymous||reply 25||02/06/2013|
[quote]Prosecutors have began searching for the father of the child that was born to the 9-year-old and authorities say this bizarre pregnancy may be a case of rape or child sexual abuse.
"may be a case of rape or child sexual abuse"???????? May be??? What else can it be when a 17 year old fucks an 8 year old other than RAPE? An affair?
|by Anonymous||reply 26||02/06/2013|
It's starting to appear as if the 17 year old boyfriend was fictitious.
The girl is one of eleven siblings. There is no abortions happening in that family.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||02/06/2013|
Damn. That is SUCH a better ending than I came up with.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||02/06/2013|

|by Anonymous||reply 32||02/06/2013|
In 1974, I started developing early & having regular periods. Kids called me "Kotex Lady." I had my twin sister's uterus (miscarried at 5 months) inside me. I was also molested until age 12.

It's unfucking real that these young girls are not taught birth control before becoming sexualy active.

It's odd, but just when I think humanity can't sink any lower.. BAM! We hit an even lower low.
I don't even understand why we exist, anymore. It seems like all we do is hurt each other, and cause each other pain.

|by Anonymous||reply 43||02/07/2013|
R41, I'm sure the girl really was pregnant at 8; it's actually very common in some parts of the world. Yes the man is typically older and wealthier, and thus culturally more desirable.
R42, Birth control isn't free in Mexico and many men refuse to wear condoms, especially if they are paying. A very poor, young girl may have no choice.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||02/07/2013|
I don't care if the father is her father, or a 17-year-old. By definition - by anyone's definition - a child was raped. No fucking "maybe" about it.

|by Anonymous||reply 52||02/07/2013|
When girls are that young, it's usually incest. I think they made the 17 year old to save face.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||02/07/2013|
It would be a little less icky if they made up a 13 year old boyfriend.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||02/07/2013|
Abortion is legal in Mexico in the first trimester of pregnancy. Even if the child had known she was pregnant by the third month (but seriously how would a 9 y.o. know she pregnant?), the family wouldn't have had any money to pay for a procedure. They'd probably have to travel, too. More expense.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||02/07/2013|
To correct myself at r55, it's legal in Mexico City.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||02/07/2013|
The age was exaggerated and identity switched with a younger sibling to bring interest and money to her family. They forgot about revealing the rape was an inside job since nine year olds aren't off brokering their own deals. Throw her guardian(s) in a cell and the truth will come out.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||02/07/2013|

|by Anonymous||reply 65||02/14/2013|
So R60, ONE incident of a very young child giving birth means it's "very common"?
You don't seem to know this, but words have certain meanings and definitions, you can't just make up your own definitions to whatever you want!
|by Anonymous||reply 67||02/14/2013|
R61, R64, R65, R66, Really sad if it's the stepfather who impregnated his then 8-year-old daughter. That's the only reason I asked for a link, for veracity. How can that be "creepy?"
|by Anonymous||reply 68||02/14/2013|
R67, For generations pre-teen girls have been giving birth. Date of first period, even at 8 or 9, has always been considered to be marriageable age in many parts of the world, not just remote tribes or 3rd World Nations. Would you like some links?
|by Anonymous||reply 69||02/14/2013|

I read the daily uk the girl is about 12. Her mother possibly a prostitute and may have sold her daughter as a hooker. In Mexico, 9 year olds get more money than 12. There may not be a 17 bf but the father could be the girls stepfather.
Something I read that sort of shocked me was the age of sexual consent is 14.

MEXICO CITY -- Authorities in the Mexican state of Jalisco say tests have revealed that a girl who gave birth two weeks ago is between 12 and 13 years of age, not 9 as the parents had claimed.
Jalisco state prosecutors also say the girl was impregnated by her stepfather and not her alleged 17-year-old boyfriend.
Authorities announced last week that a 9-year-old had given birth to a baby girl and that they were looking for her boyfriend.
But prosecutors said Wednesday that DNA tests revealed the baby's father is the girl's 44-year-old stepfather and that he is under arrest.

R47, Remember, Google is your friend. Age of Menarche Menarche usually occurs about two years after your breasts develop (thelarche) and between 4 and 6 months after the growth of your pubic and underarm hair. The age of menarche in most North American women is around 12 or 13, though your first period can come anytime between 9 and 16, depending upon your height, weight, and cultural background. Early menarche is occurring more and more - girls as young as 8 have been known to get their periods. This is referred to as premature menarche.

Especially in areas influenced by Islam, (in Africa) by the eighteenth century marriages were contracted and performed at increasingly early ages, ranging from age seven in the San region to ten in Madagascar. Premodern Pacific Island cultures also illustrate the great range that existed in the social regulation of sexuality. Among the Tiwi, for example, girls were married before puberty . . .

R94, You completely misunderstood my post. I never said that I agreed with the concept of kids having sex or getting married; quite the opposite. I'm also R91, which documents child marriage, very common in some parts of the world. Worse poor children in the Philippines, Southeast Asia, Africa, etc. are regularly sold into slavery and prostitution. Some parents around the world still think that they are lucky to have a child attractive enough for a wealthy older man to want to buy solely as a concubine.

The practice of child marriage is pervasive throughout the developing world, but particularly in the Middle East and India. Although, it's illegal in each of these countries, it takes place via secret ceremonies. Girls as young as 5 marry men as old as 60+. The girls are beaten, their sexual organs destroyed, and essentially treated as slaves. I hope that one day we will see the end of this practice.
In this case, I agree with many of the other posters who said that the girl was most likely sexually abused by her father. Very sad.
