This is an outstanding job of syncing the visual to the audio!

WOW is right.

by Anonymousreply 302/05/2013

Too bad she wasn't still alive to do it for Babs.

where are all the theater queens?

by Anonymousreply 502/06/2013

With CGI, perhaps we could have Merman's voice for any and all future Gypsy's.

And why stop there?

Imagine that voice coming out of Russell Crowe as Javert.

R5 We are all flinging ourselves and banging our heads against the stage door at the Broadway Theatre protesting the changes to Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella!!!

Gypsy is on NOW on TCM!

RR/EM played Mama Rose, not "Gypsy Rose".

I wish they'd reinstate Russell's unused vocals (with the requisite autotuning)

by Anonymousreply 1003/22/2013

it's gone

If you want to hear Rosalind Russell's actual vocals, buy the remasterd movie soundtrack on CD.She's very-shaky and has a problem holding notes, but she has charisma, and she sang "Together Whereever We Go"well. That film footage is on the rematered DVD along with the duet part of "You'll Never Get Away From Me". Now once we can superimpose faces as well as voices, maybe we can put Sean Connery's imaqe over George Lazenby's in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service",eventhough I liked Lazenby, and I loved Topol but I'd love to see Zero Mostel put on the movie "Fiddler On The Roof".Ditto Carol Channing for Barbra Streisand although I loved Babs in "Hello Dolly" it would make sweet Carol so happy, and maybe Angela Landsbury for Lucille Ball in "Mame",although I loved Lucy.I don't need Julie Andrews in "My Fair Lady" though because Audrey Hepburn had more sex-appeal but if Julie fans insist, okay.
