Histrionic personality disorder

[quote]a personality disorder characterized by a pattern of excessive emotionality and attention-seeking, including an excessive need for approval and inappropriately seductive behavior, usually beginning in early adulthood. These individuals are lively, dramatic, vivacious, enthusiastic, and flirtatious.

Dataloungers love to diagnose BPD and narcissistic personality disorder and Asperger's, but they rarely talk about this one. But this one is more common, particularly among women.

I work with at least three and perhaps four women at my college who have almost all the symptoms of this. (I should add lest I stand accused of being sexist that I also work with several men who have Asperger's, and one who has variously narcissistic personality disorder, and one with antisocial personality disorder)

It sounds like Edwardian code for 'the woman has lady parts issues'.

Perhaps it would be best if this 'disorder' was retired.

There's often a lot of overlap between HPD, BPD, and NPD. It can be hard to differentiate, especially for a non-clinician.
