Wyoming Kills Marriage Bill, Advances Domestic Partnership Legislation

One step back, one step forward in Wyoming.

I think we all knew that was never going to happen in Wyoming.

homophobia, the worst disease. you can't love who you want to love in times like these.

One step back but only 1/2 step forward.

Do we honestly think the domestic partnership thing will pass?

Colorado is heading toward approving civil unions. Nevada has domestic partnerships. Utah and Idaho will be the last to states to come to terms with marriage equality. Montana flirts with passing an anti-marriage Constitutional amendment. Despite having one of the larger gay contingents in any state legislature, Arizona is far from marriage equality. Ditto New Mexico, despite the concentration of gays and lesbians in the state capital of Santa Fe. Compared to most of the Rocky Mountain states, Wyoming is advancing forward

I know domestic partnerships pale but compared to marriage equality or even civil unions, but it a step in the right direction. Many liberal "blue" states aren't even close to passing domestic partnership legislation.

Will passage of civil unions in Wyoming come easily? Will marriage equality? No, they won't. But as the cliche goes, "A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single footstep."
