Joanne Woodward: old, Old, OLD

With her fugly grandson.

Also, why do Newman's Own products taste shitty? They're over-priced and each product tastes like they add a heaping teaspoon of cat poop.

by Anonymousreply 11810/19/2013

Yes, she is old, OP.

by Anonymousreply 101/28/2013

You may not be aware that she is suffering from Alzheimers, too. Have some compassion.

by Anonymousreply 201/28/2013

Not when you have an affair with Mrs. Newman's husband.

by Anonymousreply 301/28/2013

0P, there is no point at all to this thread. You should be ashamed!

by Anonymousreply 401/28/2013

OP...ummmm, people get old, duck. But she wasn't born an evil asshole like you.

by Anonymousreply 501/28/2013

For shame, OP. She is a wonderful human being, and yes, quite old.

You are an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 601/28/2013

Hmmmm..... I think she looks like a lovely, elderly woman out for dinner.

I hope I age as gracefully as her.

by Anonymousreply 701/28/2013

Why don't you queens have compassion for the the first Mrs. Newman.

The one whose husband Joanne stole?

by Anonymousreply 801/28/2013

r8 are you the op?

by Anonymousreply 901/28/2013

It is interesting how some here forget the fact Joanne is a home wrecker.

She broke up a marriage

by Anonymousreply 1001/28/2013

R2, where did you read that she has Alzheimers?

by Anonymousreply 1101/28/2013

No one steals a husband. R8, is your name Brandi?

by Anonymousreply 1201/28/2013

You are the one full of cat poop OP- nasty person.

by Anonymousreply 1301/28/2013

Yeah, OP. Nobody's gonna support you bitching about Joanne Woodward. You cunt.

by Anonymousreply 1401/28/2013
It is interesting how some here forget the fact Joanne is a home wrecker. She broke up a marriage

I'm sorry, Mrs. Stephen Haines, but in the year 2013 we no longer ascribe to the quaint notion of "home wreckers" or believe an outside party can "break up a marriage."

by Anonymousreply 1501/28/2013

Then Joanne should have stayed away until Paul sorted this thing out.

Instead they moved in together, while he was still married with children!

by Anonymousreply 1601/28/2013

Pitiful thread. Just pitiful.

by Anonymousreply 1701/28/2013

R15, I have way of thinking of all that: you cannot break up a happy home.

by Anonymousreply 1801/28/2013

I like Newman's Salsa.

by Anonymousreply 1901/28/2013

It is sad that people think it is okay for a woman to have an affair with a married man.

No thought to the wife or children, and the damage an affair can entail.

Look what happened to Scott Newman later.

by Anonymousreply 2001/28/2013

Next time you guys are slamming some starlet having a fling with a married man, I'll bring up this post.

by Anonymousreply 2101/28/2013

r16, are you Mamie Eisenhower?

by Anonymousreply 2201/28/2013

what r5 said

by Anonymousreply 2301/28/2013

Op is a hateful sow.

by Anonymousreply 2401/28/2013

this OP is all kinds of cray-cray!

by Anonymousreply 2501/28/2013

Crystal meth is a hell of a drug!

by Anonymousreply 2601/28/2013

For 82 she looks good and healthy....Love her....

by Anonymousreply 2701/28/2013
It is sad that people think it is okay for a woman to have an affair with a married man.

But it's wrong... [italic]shockingly[/italic] wrong!

by Anonymousreply 2801/28/2013

r31 = Kristen Stewart.

You wish you were like Joanne, slut...

by Anonymousreply 2901/28/2013

Ignore the "Joanne Woodward is a homewrecker" troll. This idiot has spewed his nonsense before. Ignore the moron.

by Anonymousreply 3001/28/2013

Someone has shit in OP's cornflakes every day since he was 5.

by Anonymousreply 3101/28/2013

My Bichon has a tight fro, I'm going to conk her hair with lye. ...any idea where I could find a mild solution? I don't want to burn her skin.

by Anonymousreply 3201/28/2013

Yes, R30. This troll has been around here for years.

It's a sign of health that and 80+ person is not withering away, but Joanne has gained SO MUCH WEIGHT I'm thinking she's on cortisone or even some kind of Kemo. Is she sick?

by Anonymousreply 3301/28/2013
Next time you guys are slamming some starlet having a fling with a married man, I'll bring up this post.

Don't bother bringing it up unless said "fling" results in a 50 year marriage, as it did with Woodward and Newman.

by Anonymousreply 3401/28/2013

by Anonymousreply 3501/28/2013

So this thread is wrong but making fun of those who died in the Brazilian nightclub fire is fine because "gallows humor helps us deal with tragedies"?

This site truly is a schizophrenic smorgasbord of truly disgusting people.

by Anonymousreply 3601/28/2013

R20 - I would say Paul had as much to do with it. A woman can make a play for a married man but she can't force him to do something he doesn't want to do. People always blame the woman and call her names - he was the one who was married and had children, she wasn't.

by Anonymousreply 3701/28/2013

Says the op.

by Anonymousreply 3801/28/2013

The current 'Vanity Fair' reminds us that Woodward's supposed 'engagement' to Gore Vidal was a canny tactic.

Vidal was under pressure from his family about marriage, Woodward wanted to nudge Newman into leaving his wife. They let the idea gain traction, then Paul was duly reeled in. Supposedly. 'It was all so long ago.'

by Anonymousreply 3901/28/2013
Pitiful thread. Just pitiful

I Know! And the OP probably thinks he is a progressive thinker making an important observation that MUST BE SHARED!

Some people on Datalounge are beyond petty. They're unbelievably stupid.

by Anonymousreply 4001/28/2013
I'm thinking she's on cortisone or even some kind of Kemo.

Oh, dear.

by Anonymousreply 4101/28/2013

She's almost 83. Looks good for 83.

by Anonymousreply 4201/28/2013
This site truly is a schizophrenic smorgasbord of truly disgusting people.

Translation: I didn't get my way, so let me flounce around, kick and scream and call people names.

Flounce it, girl!

by Anonymousreply 4301/28/2013

Well OP, hopefully you will die young and beautiful. The added bonus is that you won't have to see family and friends get old old old.

by Anonymousreply 4401/28/2013

Did someone call for me?

by Anonymousreply 4501/28/2013

Illiterate R41 meet R35.

by Anonymousreply 4601/28/2013

It's spelled C H E M O.

by Anonymousreply 4701/28/2013

She looks like any other old lady. When you're in your eighties, you're old. I guess the retard OP thinks that because she was a movie star she (or any other movie star) she should never look older than 30. What idiocy.

by Anonymousreply 4801/28/2013

this is datalounge, not church. stop judging.

by Anonymousreply 4901/28/2013

She looks great. God bless her.

by Anonymousreply 5001/28/2013

Mean post I have to agree about Newman's Own products. They are supposed to be all-natural, but are chock full of crappy ingredients.

by Anonymousreply 5101/28/2013

R4, yes, there IS a point to this thread: Joanne is old and fat and her grandson is fugly.

Other DL threads have flourished on less.

by Anonymousreply 5201/28/2013

I got my way, diseased queen at r43. The offensive Brazilian nightclub thread was removed.

by Anonymousreply 5301/28/2013

I think she looks sweet (albeit more than a passing resemblance to Maude Frickert.)

I was not aware that she was suffering from Alzheimer's. That is very sad.

I agree, a long happy marriage pretty much trumps any homewrecker charges.

by Anonymousreply 5401/28/2013

According to one of Newman's biographers, Woodward was pregnant when she married Paul Newman, who was the father of three children by his first wife.

Newman also cheated on Woodward, according to his biographers.

Woodward, I think, won an Emmy playing an Alzheimer patient in the television film, "Do You Remember Love?" opposite Richard Kiley.

by Anonymousreply 5501/28/2013

How "young" does OP demand a woman in her 80s to appear, I wonder?

by Anonymousreply 5601/28/2013

Joanne today.

by Anonymousreply 5701/28/2013

More Joanne.

by Anonymousreply 5801/28/2013

As God as my witness, when I glanced at the headline, I thought this thread was about Joanne Worley.

by Anonymousreply 5901/28/2013

She looks lovely and kind.

OP must be related to the rejected first wife.

by Anonymousreply 6001/28/2013

I think it's just a case of OP being mentally ill.

by Anonymousreply 6101/28/2013

It's sad when someone of her great beauty gives up on life. ...she could drop 50 pounds, work out, update her wardrobe, she would be working again.

by Anonymousreply 6201/28/2013

So lovely in Jonathan Demme's PHILADELPHIA. I especially like the old-timey home movies at the end. Nice work there.

by Anonymousreply 6301/28/2013
Next time you guys are slamming some starlet having a fling with a married man, I'll bring up this post.

And I'll bring up this thread when these same posters who are defending Woodward shit upon other celebs (those they dislike) who are aging or old.

by Anonymousreply 6401/28/2013

The OP works out of NYC and is more than a bit odd. The moderator knows him and encourages the nonsense that OP comes up with since the idea is that people will come here and post. How do I know all this?

On the inside of DL. That is all you need to know. And the fact that OP has also posted other "provocative" items in the last few weeks. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 6501/28/2013

DL has an inside? How many people work there?

by Anonymousreply 6601/28/2013

Oh for fuck's sake.

R36, hon? Two consenting adults choosing to bang uglies together ≠ dozens of people perishing in a truly horrific manner.

One is a great tragedy, and yes, dark humor is something mankind has used for centuries to help us cope with awful things beyond our control.

The other? Not so much.

And just stop it with that tired 'home wrecker' business. You sound like my grandmother - who has been dead since the '80s. Besides, to steal a well-known (especially to you, I'd wager) turn of phrase: if the foundation of a house is strong, no storm, no matter how severe, can blow it away.

And starting a thread to point out that someone who is in her EIGHTIES looks OLD, omg! Trolls are ashamed of this thread.

by Anonymousreply 6701/28/2013

And yet DL hates Angelina Jolie. I don't get it. Why is it o.k. for Paul Newman to leave his family, i.e. his children, and yet Brad Pitt, with no children, is stolen away by the succubus Angelina. JOanne Woodward and Paul Newman were two of the most sanctimonious know-it-alls in late 60s when they were on Dick Cavett's show telling us all how stupid we were and that they were so much smarter than the rest of us when it came to the Vietnam War. Sort of the Susan Sarandon and TIm Robbins of the day. There were hundreds of thousands of us who took to the streets long before those two phonies. I'm with OP.

by Anonymousreply 6801/28/2013

You youth worshipping freaks of nature, like O.P. has yielded botoxed wax figure mutants and fish lipped zombie people to walk among us. Your opinions have no value in the face of the plastic you wrought upon our world. You have no inkling of what beauty looks like. Anyone who listens to your drivel should have their head examined.

by Anonymousreply 6901/28/2013

You're with the OP probably means you ARE the OP, r68.

by Anonymousreply 7001/29/2013

by Anonymousreply 7101/29/2013

Some threads in here are really trashy and insulting. Joanne Woodward doesn't deserve this shit and no one deserves to get trashed because they grew old. I have expressed my opinion about Miss Woodward in another threads. My opinion is certainly, certainly positive.

by Anonymousreply 7201/29/2013

by Anonymousreply 7301/29/2013

People get old.

Deal with it, you vile, hateful piece of trash.

by Anonymousreply 7401/29/2013

Woodward and Betty DeGeneres, Ellen's mother, were classmates at LSU. They were both speech majors. In Betty's book, she said that Woodward was the star student in the department.

Both women dropped out of LSU. Woodward went to New York to study acting and to become a stage actress. DeGeneres dropped out to get married; she later returned to school, got her degree and became a speech therepist

by Anonymousreply 7504/03/2013

50 years of marriage in an industry that considers 1 yr long term! That is soul mates. Life happens. Not always fair. Sympathy to the ex wife. I'm sure she got over it. But for 2 people to find that kind of love should be celebrated. There is only one life to live. Glad they had a success! Wish we all could be so lucky.

by Anonymousreply 7610/18/2013

WOW. What kind of idiot doesn't know we get old, if we are lucky.

If it is so offensive to you, I hope you die young asshole

by Anonymousreply 7710/18/2013

OP: gay, Gay, GAY. Typically mad about it, and extertnalizing it. This is tired, dear. Get some therapy, a blog, meds, something.

by Anonymousreply 7810/18/2013

My brother had a friend who met Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward more than once. He said those two people were the nicest, down to earth people he ever met,and they gave a lot to charity.

by Anonymousreply 7910/18/2013

If she were as nice as people on this thread are claiming, she would write the check for the nose job that grandson so desperately needs.

by Anonymousreply 8010/18/2013

by Anonymousreply 8110/18/2013

Not to put too fine a point on it, OP, but before you ever post again you may want to consider these two simple facts:

(1) In her lifetime Ms Woodward achieved international acclaim and the respect of her peers.

(2) In your lifetime it's highly unlikely that you will have either.

by Anonymousreply 8210/18/2013

No matter, she is a home-wrecker. She broke up a marriage and is responsible for the death of Paul's son, Scott Newman.

by Anonymousreply 8310/18/2013

Well no one put a gun to Paul Newman's head getting involved with Joanne, please!

by Anonymousreply 8410/18/2013
Well no one put a gun to Paul Newman's head getting involved with Joanne, please!

But Joanne could have walked away. Instead she was screwing Mrs. Newman's husband.

by Anonymousreply 8510/18/2013

It's just terrible how they created that line to fund handicapped and ill children's camps, isn't it, freeper?

You don't understand their recipes, because arrowroot cookies are not on the trailer park menu. If they had put out fruit loops and moon pies, you might have considered it, but once you discovered the whole point of the corporation was to marry capitalist service to social service independent of government (ah, I guess your attention span just expired...never mind.)

by Anonymousreply 8610/18/2013

R83, get over yourself. We know this is really all about you.

by Anonymousreply 8710/18/2013

I have to agree that the Newman products suck big time. Better to buy something decent at half the price and then donate the difference.

by Anonymousreply 8810/18/2013

R86 it is all because of guilt. Both of them caused the death of Scott Newman with their affair.

Scott could never get over the betrayal.

by Anonymousreply 8910/18/2013
Scott could never get over the betrayal.

What's wrong with you? Scott Newman died because he chose to ingest Valium, Darvon, Quaaludes and cocaine.

by Anonymousreply 9010/18/2013

Michael Moore is fat!

by Anonymousreply 9110/18/2013

by Anonymousreply 9210/18/2013

There's a rumor that the attendants in the assisted care facility Woodward is in have been shocked at some of the things she's been divulging about her long marriage to Newman.

by Anonymousreply 9310/18/2013

Might come as a surprise to the Joanne Woodward who is still living in the Connecticut home she shared with Newman for fifty years.

by Anonymousreply 9410/18/2013

r93 is insane it would seem.

by Anonymousreply 9510/18/2013

I think she just goes into the center when she gets "confused" and comes out. Alzheimers is progressive. Apparently someone either in her home or at the center talked and said that when she is in that state she talks about Newman with bitterness and has spilled some of his sexual secrets. But it's only a rumor.

by Anonymousreply 9610/18/2013
Scott Newman died because he chose to ingest Valium, Darvon, Quaaludes and cocaine.

Driven to drugs by Joanne.

by Anonymousreply 9710/18/2013

She's on Zoloft.

by Anonymousreply 9810/18/2013

Can you imagine the hell life would be to get to age 82 and still desperately trying to look 35? Who gives a f*k what the shallow think, only another shallow cares. She's not plastic nor riddled with botulism botox which travels throughout the body doing god knows what, nor compelled to wear gloves everywhere she goes because she's ashamed of the look of her arms. She looks like a human being, not some morphed special effects alien. She doesn't hate her body parts and is not at war with them like the shallows are. The shallows wear their idiocy like a badge and the great thing is you can immediately see their depth of character or lack of it the moment they step into a room.

by Anonymousreply 9910/18/2013

I worked with Joanne long ago and she is a Facebook friend of mine. She posts occasionally and sounds absolutely sane and reasonable.

If she's forgetful at times, well...she is 82, after all.

by Anonymousreply 10010/18/2013

"Can you imagine the hell life would be to get to age 82 and still desperately trying to look 35?"

Youuu BITCH!

by Anonymousreply 10110/18/2013

Article about Paul's guilt.

by Anonymousreply 10210/18/2013

His first marriage lasted nine years. His second marriage lasted fifty.

Just sayin'.

by Anonymousreply 10310/18/2013

The gorgeous couple made an appearance on What's My Line? when Paul was starring on Broadway in Sweet Bird of Youth.

Joanne had just completed The Fugitive Kind, which was the film of Tennessee Williams' Orpheus Descending with Anna Mangnani and Marlon Brando.

by Anonymousreply 10410/18/2013

by Anonymousreply 10510/19/2013

Typically nasty freep attack on a liberal for--daring to exist. These people are nasty to their cores and so full of hate they can attack someone simply for continuing to breathe.

by Anonymousreply 10610/19/2013
His first marriage lasted nine years. His second marriage lasted fifty.

It would have lasted a lot longer if Joanne didn't break it up

by Anonymousreply 10710/19/2013

It wasn't Joanne's fault Paul wanted to spew his seed into others beside his wife.

by Anonymousreply 10810/19/2013

One of my favorite actresses. And, I think, her work in Rachel, Rachel is her best.

Just wanted to remind all of the people who are sticking their noses into her personal life that the woman is an artist and a great one. And so was her husband.

Now, let's go back to recasting Falcon Crest and leave them alone.

by Anonymousreply 10910/19/2013
It wasn't Joanne's fault Paul wanted to spew his seed into others beside his wife.

She didn't have to be the one who took his seed.

by Anonymousreply 11010/19/2013

Joanne looks like a nice suburban grannie now, which is pretty much what she looked like during the best years of her career.

by Anonymousreply 11110/19/2013

Well, is she or isn't she?!

by Anonymousreply 11210/19/2013

She was a very different sort of young actress than was typical in Hollywood in the 1950s, esp. in 3 Faces of Eve, The Long Hot Summer, No Down Payment and The Fugitive Kind. A very unique energy that later disappeared.

Marriage and living in Paul's shadow dulled her confidence, I think. Rachel, Rachel was her last great performance. She was ridiculous in Man in the Moon Marigolds and just dreary in The Glass Menagerie.

Fine in Mr. and Mrs. North....but...dull.

by Anonymousreply 11310/19/2013

I hope that OP dies and terribly painful death.

by Anonymousreply 11410/19/2013

Candice, dear, go ask Mr. H on his thread. I'll never tell.

by Anonymousreply 11510/19/2013

Paul Newman was one of the steadier, brighter stars from his generation. He didn't do anything he didn't want to do; if he decided to leave his 1st wife to marry Woodward, well that was his choice. I doubt there was much anyone could do to make him do otherwise.

And he and Woodward were married for decades, happily. So he apparently made a good decision.

by Anonymousreply 11610/19/2013

Woodward did seminal work in the tv movie, SYBIL, with Sally Field. She also should have gotten an Emmy.

by Anonymousreply 11710/19/2013

But can we all agree Joanne did not fulfill the promise of her 1950s career?

She was never a sex symbol so she could have easily evolved into a brilliant older character actress like Elle Burstyn or Helen Mirren.
