|by Anonymous||reply 40||01/30/2013|
Think it's been revised to half that - 90. Still, terrible. But more important to everyone on DL - will they cancel Mardi Gras in Rio ?

CNN now reporting 220 dead.

Fireworks inside,is never a good idea. Sad for thode people who died and their family
|by Anonymous||reply 3||01/27/2013|
It sounds a lot like that nightclub fire in Rhode Island. Fireworks, jam-packed club, flammable soundproofing foam.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||01/27/2013|
I'm sure all the racists here on Datalounge will be celebrating the death of 200+ negromen.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||01/27/2013|
No r5 -- nightclubs have historically been danger zones, and scary for their potential horrors.
Just in New England alone, I think there have been five or six of these sorts of catastrophes, if you count that circus fire.

Oh my gawd!! I hope Pablo! is ok!!
|by Anonymous||reply 7||01/27/2013|
to 5 Nah.South of Brazil in mainly white,german decendants
|by Anonymous||reply 8||01/27/2013|
R5 and R8 are both wrong - this is Sao Paulo, most of the people in that club are gonna be like most young people in Sao Paulo: all kinds of mixed race Brazilian. Not african black-black, not german white-white. There is a lot of portuguese, native south american, african, dutch, spanish latino, lebanese, german and dozens more all mixed together over time.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||01/27/2013|
Aye! Es muy caliente.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||01/27/2013|

|by Anonymous||reply 12||01/27/2013|
To the idiots trying to make something racial out of this, video reports showed mainly euro types.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||01/27/2013|
And mostly shirtless, r13.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||01/27/2013|

Pyrotechnics inside a crowded nightclub. What could possibly go wrong?
|by Anonymous||reply 18||01/27/2013|
*phew* at least these hotties made it out alive.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||01/27/2013|
From the article:
Ezekiel Corte Real, 23, was quoted by the paper as saying that he helped people to escape. "I just got out because I'm very strong," he said.
Well, smell you Ezekiel.
Tragedy for the rest of the weaklings, I guess.

|by Anonymous||reply 22||01/27/2013|

How many dead looks good to you OP?
|by Anonymous||reply 24||01/27/2013|
In the U.S. people remember the Cocoanut Grove fire in Boston back during WWII. But nightclub fires have been killing people since there were nightclubs.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||01/27/2013|
"White Snake comeback a big flop."
|by Anonymous||reply 26||01/27/2013|
I would never even think of going into a nightclub that big. I'd get claustrophobia.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||01/27/2013|
Why do these stupid bands set off fireworks in a crowded club? This is like the 4th time something stupid like this has killed people.
What the fuck is wrong with these dumbass bands that can't perform without fireworks? Are they that shitty?
|by Anonymous||reply 28||01/27/2013|
I bet that was HOT! In more ways than one.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||01/27/2013|
Why would the band even be allowed to have the fireworks?
Awful situation - lots of drunk people running to minimal exits. People getting burned, trampled, and inhaling smoke. Awful.

Death toll in Brazil nightclub fire at 232
A flare, which may have been part of an on-stage display, caught the roof on fire, witnesses say. Most of the victims died from smoke inhalation.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||01/27/2013|
Let's call it what it is. Bands today are made up of people with no brains, who are unaware of things like fire or electricity. Before they had battery mikes, hundreds of entertainers and news people were electrocuted every year by not understanding that electricity and water don't mix.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||01/27/2013|
Since they all wanted to be the hottest thing in town, this worked out well for them.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||01/27/2013|
Pablo still hasnt tweeted yet! :(
|by Anonymous||reply 34||01/27/2013|
Another reason to avoid nightclubs.
And I never go near a bar late at night.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||01/27/2013|
[quote]About 2,000 people were inside the club when the fire broke out -- double the maximum capacity of 1,000, said Guido de Melo, a state fire official.
[quote]The roof collapsed in several parts of the building, trapping many inside. Firefighters found piles of bodies in the club's bathroom.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||01/29/2013|
When people were trying to run out, security guards blocked them, thinking they were trying to shirk their tabs
|by Anonymous||reply 37||01/30/2013|
Who is Pablo?
|by Anonymous||reply 38||01/30/2013|
r30 Pablo is one of Brazil's most expensive man-whores! A friend of Anderson Cooper's. He is alive BTW.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||01/30/2013|
The band set off a $3 outdoor flare instead of paying $35 for ones that could be used indoors.
