Oprah is worth 2.7 billion dollars

If I had that kind of money, I wouldn't care what people thought of me.

by Anonymousreply 4601/27/2013

That's nice.

by Anonymousreply 101/25/2013

Mind bogglingšŸ˜±

by Anonymousreply 201/25/2013

Yet all that money can't buy her what she really wants.....

to be skinny.

by Anonymousreply 301/25/2013

Or successful on tv in 2013 and beyond.

by Anonymousreply 401/25/2013

I wonder how much of that is in real dollars and how much is in assets.

by Anonymousreply 501/25/2013

It's really a mind-boggling fact.

by Anonymousreply 601/25/2013

I'm sure she doen't OP, at least people she does not know.

by Anonymousreply 701/25/2013

Nowhere near OP.

by Anonymousreply 801/25/2013

That's 2,700 millions.

by Anonymousreply 901/25/2013

R3, I think it can't buy her the love she wants.

If I had that much, I'd hire a cook and a trainer to sit on my ass 24/7.

by Anonymousreply 1001/25/2013

I do wonder why she can't lose weight. You'd think she'd have access to the best nutritionists and chefs who know how to make some extraordinary low-cal food/desserts so she could keep her weight down. I don't get it.

by Anonymousreply 1101/25/2013

The weight has pretty much been on for the last 10 years or so, right? Could be menopause. Some women really struggle with the weight after 50.

by Anonymousreply 1201/25/2013

Oprah just likes to gorge on fatty, comfort foods.

She, in fact, has admitted to her orgasmic love of macaroni and cheese.

by Anonymousreply 1301/25/2013

Oprah's heavy but she's in proportion, as in hour glass. She still has a nice shape for a heavier woman. Maybe that's why she isn't compelled to lose weight--she's 'thick.'

And as much as we joke about her she hasn't fallen victim to lipo or bariatric surgery, good for her. She knows that its a bullshit, remedy, I'm sure from interviewing these victims of surgery for years on end. And imagine the ratings she would get if she had the surgery--oh my god--talk about t.v. gold.

But she won't do it--I admire her for that.

by Anonymousreply 1401/25/2013

Clearly she does not care what people think of here. Have you seen what she looks like lately?

by Anonymousreply 1501/25/2013

[quote]She, in fact, has admitted to her orgasmic love of macaroni and cheese.

I can relate.

R14 good points.

by Anonymousreply 1601/25/2013

She is fat because she is depressed. She is used to getting her way, so "friends" will suck up to her and tell her whatever she wants to hear. But she'll never have "real" friends, and she knows this. Plenty of toys on the outside, empty (and lonely) shell on the inside.

by Anonymousreply 1701/25/2013

I think Gayle is genuinely her friend.

by Anonymousreply 1801/25/2013

Well, Oprah sure fell for Optifast.

She could never do lap band or stomach stapling because there's no way in hell she could forever restrict her food intake that much.

And she knows it.

by Anonymousreply 1901/25/2013

The lap band and stomach stapling cause very serious side effects and ultimately do not work. They are a waste of money and health. Gallstones are miserable but guaranteed side effect, as are hernias. and you cannot gain muscle tone after the temporary weight loss.

Look, I know that part of the obesity epidemic is due to HFCS and that it works on the body's ability to feel full after eating. But that is what works- avoiding HFCS, GMO foods, alsohol, and exercise.

Even the rich and famous cannot win at surgery--Roseanne, Carnie wilson, etc.

by Anonymousreply 2001/25/2013

Skinny Oprah was ugly anyway. Her head was too big.

by Anonymousreply 2101/25/2013

I have seen her ASSETS in person and it's huge. I'd say 99.99999% is in her assets.

by Anonymousreply 2201/25/2013

You either care what people think about you, or you don't. Money doesn't change that. Just like money doesn't make you thin.

Oprah has always cared what people thought of her, which is why she's such a control freak about everything she does. If anything, money has pushed her FURTHER in this direction.

by Anonymousreply 2301/25/2013

You might have a point, r21.

She didn't need to lose quite that much. An extra 15 on skinny Oprah probably would have been just about right.

by Anonymousreply 2401/25/2013

Let me try this link

by Anonymousreply 2501/25/2013

Sorry, OP. We do not "discuss" anyone worth less than 3 billion. Read your Datalounge manual please.

by Anonymousreply 2601/25/2013

Must be an American thing. I've not heard of her.

by Anonymousreply 2701/25/2013

And r22 kills the thread.

Thread closed.

by Anonymousreply 2801/25/2013

Oprah's reported wealth has ALWAYS been grossly overstated. She is no more worth $2.7 billion than I am.

by Anonymousreply 2901/25/2013

I think she is actually worth several times that figure

by Anonymousreply 3001/25/2013

DL is not gonna like this, but OWN is actually starting to turn around.

by Anonymousreply 3101/26/2013

Not only that, OWN is set to start turning a profit in 2013.

Never doubt the power of Oprah.

by Anonymousreply 3201/26/2013

Oprah has 2.7 billion dollars BECAUSE she deeply cares what others think of her. Over-achieving people who reach this level of wealth do so because they feel they have something to prove. After, say, 100 million it's no longer about the money and is about something much deeper.

by Anonymousreply 3301/26/2013

R33 - Either that or they get used to the power. People don't like to give up power so they keep going for more and more.

Oprah's body isn't designed to be a small skinny woman - she'll always have tits and ass and some extra pounds on her.

Plus the camera adds 10-15 pounds - in real life, she'd be considered round, but still relatively healthy.

by Anonymousreply 3401/26/2013

First Frau

by Anonymousreply 3501/26/2013

She's an obese, 59-yr. old repressed lesbian who's been in a sexless "engagement" to a man for over 20 years.

Why would a single woman need a house this size?

I guess money can't buy happiness.

by Anonymousreply 3601/26/2013

I saw the first part of an interview between Gayle and J-Lo this week. It was at a restaurant and Gayle ordered so damn much food (just for herself) that I was gobsmacked. If that's how she and Oprah eat, I'm surprised only that they're not both 500# each.

That said, I'm glad an African American woman is mega wealthy on her own merit. There aren't many women of any race who can say that.

by Anonymousreply 3701/26/2013

She is the most recognizable woman in the entire world and the richest. Haters, eat that.

by Anonymousreply 3801/26/2013

R36 How DARE you speak ill of the Promised Land!

by Anonymousreply 3901/26/2013

No R38, she is not the most recognizable woman in the WORLD. Maybe the U.S., but I don't think there are 10 people in Europe, South America or Asia who have ever heard of her.I had never heard of her until a few months ago (on a DL thread).

by Anonymousreply 4001/26/2013

All that money and she can't buy dignity, integrity or will power.

by Anonymousreply 4101/27/2013

She got Obama elected people, when the whole world was expecting the inevitable Hillary. The Lance Armstrong interview showed she's still the go-to person for the big exclusive interviews. Her name, alone, carries so much weight (no pun intended) and now OWN is becoming profitable, she's going to gain even more power. There's nothing she can't do.

by Anonymousreply 4201/27/2013

Except: 1) lose weight; 2) have a real relationship; ) get over her grudges; 4) act; 5) sing

by Anonymousreply 4301/27/2013

[quote]She got Obama elected people....

I kinda think she got W elected too. His numbers among female voters were way low until she had him on her show and gave him the opportunity to show a kinder/gentler side with wifey. The soccer moms ate it up.

by Anonymousreply 4401/27/2013

She has an Oscar nomination to brag about, r43.

by Anonymousreply 4501/27/2013

or be humble r43. Oprah's ego is humongous....

which is why she always talks over her guest "experts"

I swear, Oprah could have on a guest whose expertise is weight control and Oprah would still feel the need to talk over him/her as if she had all the answers.
