Oven Roasters

I'm not much of a cook. Are oven roasters good for making turkey breasts and chicken? Would one be good to have at holiday time so I can use the regular oven for other foods, like appetizers?

Are you talking about an electric roaster or a roasting pan?

by N00breply 101/20/2013

I'm talking about a roasting pan as opposed to just putting it in the open on foil.

by N00breply 201/20/2013

So how would that free up space in the oven?

by N00breply 301/20/2013

Those things are pretty big, OP.

And expensive.

Don't most people just use them to keep food warm? Like for a buffet?

Just order takeout

In my opinion, you cannot beat those Nesco electric roasters.

They are perfect for turkey, duck, and ham. You should have a pantry, though; you use it perhaps six times a year.

I've got an electric roaster I bought for a great price at a yard sale. It didn't look like it had ever been used and the instruction manual was still inside, sealed in plastic.

It's gotten lots of good use for turkey and other big cuts of meat for holiday dinners. What I didn't consider when I bought it is that it's valuable in the middle of summer when I don't want to heat up my kitchen.

Thanks. I redid my kitchen and put the older cabinets in thr basement along with some tall cabinets from Lowes, so I have storage space. I'll buy one

by N00breply 901/21/2013

What kind, OP?

Electric or in-the-oven kind?

by N00breply 1001/21/2013

Obviously an electric one if using the oven to cook sides and appetizers is the stated goal.

by N00breply 1101/21/2013

"Obviously ...."

Are you attempting to get snippy with me, OP?

Obviously, it wasn't "obvious" to me, or I would not have asked you.

So mind your tone, little missy!

Regular oven is the giveaway

So now you're telling me I have a reading comprehension deficit?

Well, I never!

Hmmmmph!

by N00breply 1401/21/2013

Do they work well? Do you have to first brown the meat or will it do that for you?

by N00breply 1501/24/2013

It will brown the meat for you.
