If you could resurrect one dead person, who would it be?

Is it taboo to say that I really wish Heath Ledger was alive. He was a terrific actor and I wish he was here for the Dark Knight rises.

Omg, I heart him.

by Anonymousreply 7401/29/2013

Good choice. Ruth Gordon and Geraldine Page also. JFK jr.

by Anonymousreply 101/19/2013

I didn't like Heath Ledger in his role as "Joker".

by Anonymousreply 201/19/2013

[quote]He was a terrific actor and I wish he was here for the Dark Knight rises.

His character died at the end of "The Dark Knight."

by Anonymousreply 301/19/2013

God, I miss brunch.

by Anonymousreply 401/19/2013

by Anonymousreply 501/19/2013

[quote]JFK jr.

Why? Do you desperately miss "George" Magazine? He never did anything else, except date bitchfaced blondes.

by Anonymousreply 601/19/2013

r3 the joker went to jail at the end of the movie.

by Anonymousreply 701/19/2013

You would waste your wish on a man you've never met before?

by Anonymousreply 801/19/2013

r8 Everyone I love is still alive. My parents, my friends, they are all alive and well.

by Anonymousreply 901/19/2013

Is this like "The Monkey's Paw"? Because I do not want Princess Diana's rotting corpse shambling up to my doorstep.

by Anonymousreply 1001/19/2013

Judy Garland, of course!

by Anonymousreply 1101/19/2013

Sigmund Romberg - I want more of his music.

by Anonymousreply 1201/19/2013

Gore Vidal, I miss his work and his bitchery.

by Anonymousreply 1301/19/2013

My actor choice might be Phil Hartman - sad to think of all the awesome performances we didn't get to see.

by Anonymousreply 1401/19/2013

It would be one of my dead relatives - perhaps my great grandmother or my great great gandmother on my father's side of the family - for the information that they would know.

Otherwise, it would be someone who died a horrible and/or painful death - so that they didn't have to go through that pain.

by Anonymousreply 1501/19/2013

Ken Lay - so I could punch him in the dick and then strangle him.

by Anonymousreply 1601/19/2013

Lindsay Lohan

by Anonymousreply 1701/19/2013

My actor choice would be Tyrone Power. He was a good actor and an extremely handsome man. I enjoy watching his films.

by Anonymousreply 1801/19/2013

My mother for sure. I know'Mary'.

by Anonymousreply 1901/19/2013

Well said R11

by Anonymousreply 2001/19/2013

by Anonymousreply 2101/19/2013

Alexander the Great

by Anonymousreply 2201/19/2013

Cass Elliot, she died at age 32, after only recording 5 solo albums.

by Anonymousreply 2301/19/2013

James Dean, in a heartbeat. An icon in so few performances. I often wonder what he would be doing today.

by Anonymousreply 2401/19/2013

R5 Agreed. Just so he could come back and be de-bunked and exposed as the Joseph Smith/L. Ron Hubbard of his day. Maybe then we could knock some sense into people who still believe he was the son of God.

by Anonymousreply 2501/19/2013

My father.

With Jon-Erik Hexum, a close second.

by Anonymousreply 2601/19/2013

1/2 Bette, 1/2 Joan as Composite Actress.

by Anonymousreply 2701/19/2013

Diana, Princess of Wales

by Anonymousreply 2801/19/2013

My Dad, he died last Sept. 27th.

by Anonymousreply 2901/19/2013

by Anonymousreply 3001/20/2013

How wonderful it would be to resurrect Manti Teo's girlfriend who died from a leukemia induced auto accident. We could put this national tragedy to rest and he would become a football star.

by Anonymousreply 3101/20/2013

Well, "resurrect" is a tricky concept b/c I'd rather say "have them back at the point they were healthy and vital" versus when they died.

Personally it would be my mom and my sister (who took her life).

Of famous folks, it would be either Madeline Kahn or Karen Carpenter. Both died way too young.

I miss Bea Arthur too but Bea would probably be all "Fuck off! I'm tired! Let me be!"

by Anonymousreply 3201/20/2013

MLK or Anne Frank.

by Anonymousreply 3301/20/2013

My sister.

by Anonymousreply 3401/20/2013

My dad, so I could spit in his face and tell him how much I hate him.

by Anonymousreply 3501/20/2013

I like your spunk, R35.

by Anonymousreply 3601/20/2013

Julia Child...Ledger was an okay actor and a druggie, waste of oxygen to have him back.

by Anonymousreply 3701/20/2013

Oh, the things Zombie Julia Child could do with Jacque Pepin's brains!

by Anonymousreply 3801/24/2013

Jesus. Or at least I would have him come back to earth. He needs to clarify his message to the people who hate and commit acts of violence and discrimination against people, esp. gays, but many other groups as well, all because that is what the Lord wants. So, Jesus, come on back.

by Anonymousreply 3901/24/2013

Laviosier (Spelling?)

by Anonymousreply 4001/24/2013

When I first saw this post, I was thinking of resurrecting ME because this bitch has been in "prime time" mode since the "Great DL Outage Of 2013" (Jan 19-20). [Did y'all notice it was sort of slow here for a few days?] I'm too frugal (okay, cheap!) to pay the eighteen bucks, so all I could do was make up witty comments in my head as all of you paying customers posted great threads.

Anyho, if I could resurrect Eve (and then time warp her back to that meeting with the nefarious reptile), I'd smack that apple out of her mouth and make some snakeskin boots for myself. That would have saved all of us slobs a heap of woe!

by Anonymousreply 4101/24/2013

Probably a dead scientist, leader or humanitarian. Selfish answer: a dead relative.

I cannot imagine the shallowness and stupidity required to answer with a dead actor. Good lord, OP.

by Anonymousreply 4201/24/2013

There should be an "or" between my list of names, as we are only allowed one resurrection.

by Anonymousreply 4301/24/2013

My Dad and Judy Garland.

by Anonymousreply 4401/24/2013

Rock Hudson. And the HIV would be gone, from everyone forever.

Da Vinci

Judy Judy Judy!!

by Anonymousreply 4501/24/2013

It's deeply disconcerting to note how many posts list actors, actresses and singers. Of all of humanity, a dead actor is the person to bring back?

by Anonymousreply 4601/24/2013

Christ died for us. Who are we to trivialize this sacrifice by declining the favor?

by Anonymousreply 4701/28/2013

Albert Einstein

He said some cool things

by Anonymousreply 4801/28/2013

For the women like Marilyn, Diana, Garaland, Callas, Whitney & Billie ... don't you think their sad, tragic lives and deaths add to their legends? If they had to live their lives again and follow the right path, they'd be utterly boring. I mean, no one's in a hurry to cannonise Celine Dion.

by Anonymousreply 4901/28/2013

by Anonymousreply 5001/28/2013

[quote]Jesus. Or at least I would have him come back to earth. He needs to clarify his message to the people who hate

if a Jesus did come back to clarify his message, the extremist Christians would buy off some Republican't lawmakers to have him silenced and tried as a terrorist. Bet.

by Anonymousreply 5101/28/2013

Poor Nicole Brown Simpson. And my brother, a wonderful man who died too young.

by Anonymousreply 5201/28/2013

Leonardo DaVinci.

I can't imagine using this opportunity (albeit imaginary) to resurrect an actor or singer.

by Anonymousreply 5301/28/2013

Resurrecting Jesus plainly takes this into the realm of fantasy -- besides, the body is missing.

What are the rules here? Do we resurrect Judy Garland at 90? Marilyn at 86, or whatever? Do we get them back on their last days? Do they come back like Andreyev's Lazarus, with the obvious effects of having been dead for as long as they were? (The psychological effects would be bad enough, but the physical effects would not be pretty.) Or do we get to pick the point in their lives at which they were in the condition in which they'd return?

Someone above said JFK Jr. One would think his father might make more contributions to humanity than he -- but would he come back with half his brain on Jackie's suit? So much to think about. (And clearly too much time in which to do it.)

by Anonymousreply 5401/28/2013

Persis Khambatta

by Anonymousreply 5501/28/2013

My mother. Died too young and deserved a long and happy life.

An old boyfriend - actually my first real boyfriend - who also died too young and sadly while we were making plans to reconnect after a long time with no contact.

My best friend from high school who was the most loyal friend and funniest person I ever knew - he was a cop murdered at 31.

Steve Prefontaine - who was trying to change the face of amateur athletics and wrest control away from corrupt old white men holding our athletes back via dirty politics. Plus he was a god.

John Gilbert Winant, the US Ambassador to Great Britain during WWII. He was an incredible man and a very progressive populist republican (closer to a Democrat really) who might have made a real difference in national and world politics for the better - he died shortly after the war.

by Anonymousreply 5601/28/2013

Actually, R56, Steve Prefontaine was only so-so in bed. John Gilbert Winant, on the other hand.....

by Anonymousreply 5701/28/2013

Anna Pavlova

by Anonymousreply 5801/28/2013

by Anonymousreply 5901/28/2013

You are very sweet, 56.

My dad and cousin.

by Anonymousreply 6001/28/2013

Cary Grant. For obvious reasons; good looking, sexy, and with a good sense of humor.

by Anonymousreply 6101/28/2013

It would be my Dad. He worked himself to death in order to provide a meager existance for his wife and children. Dad was a very intelligent man who lost everything in a failed business in his later years and was unable to recover. I would give everything that I have acquired in my careers to spend just 5 minutes with him now. I love you Raymond.

by Anonymousreply 6201/28/2013

Mo Mowlam. She'd be Labour leader by now, and a much more effective opposition.

by Anonymousreply 6301/28/2013

The author who wrote the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, Stieg Larsson.

He was going to write a ten book series and died after the third book was finished and before he could enjoy his good fortune. I would like him to come back and finish the series, then write, write, write some more.

by Anonymousreply 6401/28/2013

Mageret Mitchell

by Anonymousreply 6501/28/2013

Carol Channing

by Anonymousreply 6601/28/2013

OP; I too miss Heath Ledger. I think I'll miss him till the day I die. The way he expressed his love for people, esp. his fellow actors is truly inspirational for me. If ever I get off my butt and start painting like my bud is pushing me to do, I want to do some paintings of Heath. I did write my first poem in a long, long time..about Heath. That helped, enormously!

by Anonymousreply 6701/28/2013

My personal belief is that no one would want to return to this "veil of tears", after they've left it.

by Anonymousreply 6801/28/2013

r67 wasn't there someone in your life you wish you could have back? I can't see myself wanting to resurrect a celebrity I don't even know. A celebrity I only know through films. It's so silly. That's for his family to desire.

by Anonymousreply 6901/28/2013

My cousin who always made family get-togethers more fun. Who will I sit with at Thanksgiving now?

by Anonymousreply 7001/28/2013

My mother. She's my only friend..

She's not dead either. She's 76 and the mental health people are getting tired of treating her other and other againso they are plaining on putting her in a nursing home...

I wish my mother would come back 100% mentally healthy...

by Anonymousreply 7101/28/2013

Bayard Rustin, W.E.B Du Bois, Booker T. Washington, Lorraine Hansberry, James Baldwin, Ida B. Wells, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth or Phillis Wheatley. I can go on and on; there are just so many deceased people I would love to meet.

My grandmother died when my mother was 5 years old and it something my mother has struggled with her entire life. So if I had to choose just one person I would choose my grandmother.

by Anonymousreply 7201/29/2013

Certainly not Adolf Hitler.
