At What Age Is A Person Considered Middle Age?

Well?

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 3201/18/2013

35-45 is middle age.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 101/16/2013

On your deathbed, write down your age just minutes before you die. Divide it by two and you will know exactly what age was YOUR middle-age.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 201/16/2013

Most people don't die at 70. I think 45-55 is middle age. You aren't considered a senior until 65. By R1's standards a 46 year old is a senior.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 301/16/2013

50 is senior. That's when you're eligible for AARP membership.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 401/16/2013

Over 25 is middle age

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 501/16/2013

R4, people can't retire at age 50. At least, not any real people.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 601/16/2013

45 - 55 is "middle age" only if you expect to live to between 90 and 110.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 701/16/2013

Who really gives a shit. You're either alive or you're dead.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 801/16/2013

[quote]people can't retire at age 50.

So? Some people work into their 70s. Does that make them middle age?

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 901/16/2013

32

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1001/16/2013

35-45 is firmly middle age.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1101/16/2013

R8 for the win.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1201/16/2013

40 seems right

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1301/16/2013

35 to 65 is middle age.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1401/16/2013

45.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1501/16/2013

60 is senior.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1601/16/2013

R14 65 is middle-age? Yeah, like we're all gonna live to be 130.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1701/16/2013

It's probably 30-40, given the median age people reach is 70-something.

In my family people die in their 60's so I'm well past middle age.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1801/16/2013

That depends who is asking, OP.

Physiologically, it's 35-40. Traditionally, it's 40. For gay men, it's 30.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 1901/16/2013

No sane person thinks of 35 as middle aged. Let alone 30.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2001/16/2013

45-65...the middle of your life.

Some of the responses on here are ridiculous.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2101/16/2013

I work and I work, 'till I'm half dead, then what do the say? She's getting old.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2201/16/2013

I think the concept of "middle age" refers to being in the middle of your adult years, not the middle of your lifespan.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2301/17/2013

A person is not considered middle age. A person is considered middle aged.

And the point at which that is reached is estimated not in terms of the entire life span, but in terms of adulthood. So one is a young adult, a middle aged adult and then one is an old adult, assuming one doesn't die at some point before that.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2401/17/2013

35-45 is most definitely not middle age.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2501/17/2013

R24 - all the forum reading is so deleterious to my ability to point out errors in written English (that occur more rarely on DL than other places) that I didn't even catch that mistake. Yikes. I need to read more books and less internetz.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2601/17/2013

I consider 40-65 middle age.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2701/17/2013

People are living longer as we move more and more into the future with the ever changing technology in medical equipment and medical breakthroughs. So I really think there is no solid answer for that question anymore.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2801/17/2013

conventionally its 45

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 2901/17/2013

18-30 young adult

30-45 adult

45-60 middle aged

60+ old

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 3001/17/2013

I abhor these types of labels. Besides, age is just a state of mind. If you act youthful, you are young.

by M. Ciccone, 39.reply 3101/17/2013

I agree with you R31 100%! In the United States we are obsessed with youth and hanging on to stay young.
