And Here’s a Scene From James Franco’s New Gay BDSM Movie [NSFW]

Here's a clip from the 60-minute art film, Interior. Leather Bar., co-directed by and starring James Franco that will premiere at Sundance this week. Just like the movie, it's all about gay sex. While the clip is definitely NSFW—not for nudity, but for the sounds of moans and slaps (you should be fine if you use headphones)—most of it is a conversation about gay sex, specifically, Franco's personal thoughts (he plays "a version" of himself in the film) on the importance of showing it in mainstream movies to combat hetero-normative conditioning.

Every fucking love story is a dude that wants to be with a girl, and the only way they're going to end up happy is if they walk off into the sunset together. I'm fucking sick of that shit…Sex should be a storytelling tool, but we're so fucking scared of it.

Interior. Leather Bar. is a "re-imagining" of the controversial 40 minutes of footage that was cut from Cruising, the 1980 Al Pacino film about a serial killer targeting gay men in West Village leather bars. According to Cruising's director William Friedkin, all of the deleted footage was shot inside actual gay clubs and depicted "graphic homosexuality with Pacino watching, and with the intimation that he may have been participating." He says he was forced by the MPAA to remove the scenes in order to avoid an X rating. He claims that the studio later destroyed the footage.

This one of three sex-based movies of Franco's that will be premiering at Sundance. He produced the documentary kink, about the fetish website Kink.com. And he also plays Hugh Hefner in the Linda Lovelace biopic Lovelace.

So boring. So self-absorbed. So pompously inauthentic and meaningless.

by Anonymousreply 101/16/2013

I'm glad he's maintaining an interest in this area. Can't wait to see what he does next.

by Anonymousreply 201/16/2013

The real shame is, Franco is pretty much alone saying the obvious and doing these films. There's supposed to be 9 to 30 million of us he-mosexuals, and one straight guy, Franco, is making the loudest noises on our behalf.

We are truly a grouping of wusses.

by Anonymousreply 301/16/2013

What [R1] said

by Anonymousreply 401/16/2013

R3, if you think we require a slapdash auteur who gets a lump in his pants over teasing himself without real commitment, and who subverts topics of what it is to be a man today among men and women by playing sex-dog-porn-king, you need more care and interest than anyone here is going to give you. Go - watch little movies and be alone.

by Anonymousreply 501/16/2013

r5, no on is offering more than Franco. You sound pretty empty headed to me, but then unfortunately, the empty headed make up the mojority of most groups.

by Anonymousreply 601/16/2013

"the mojority"

It's the new pron!

by Anonymousreply 701/16/2013

I'm mostly a heterosexual. Yet I don't understand why it is easier for people to focus on the trivial ie. how Jodie Foster came out at the Globes. Hell, I knew she was a dyke when she was a tyke. But can't discuss honestly how people are condition to think they way they do about sexuality.

Franco is right. I remember a time when blacks were not seen in prominent roles on tv- whether it was a series or commercial unless they were depicted as a criminal or servant.

It does matter how groups of people are presented to the mainstream. I don't understand why it's ok to show a human blown to pieces by a gun but not the various forms of sexual expression.

by Anonymousreply 801/16/2013

Love him! Hope they show him with a hard on in the movie.

by Anonymousreply 901/16/2013

yumer!

by Anonymousreply 1001/16/2013

James Franco is going to create a gay backlash. He's just using our community / subculture now, and it's obnoxiously obvious.

by Anonymousreply 1101/16/2013

He's a male Madonna, without the music, or backups dancers, or nice costumes, or...

by Anonymousreply 1201/16/2013
He's a male Madonna, without the music, or backups dancers, or nice costumes, or...

Madonna has nice costumes?

by Anonymousreply 1301/16/2013

Franco is off his rocker. Creepy....

by Anonymousreply 1401/16/2013

This movie is supposed to be Helen Lawson's big comeback and you bitches are ruining everything. Let's at least support this movie for Helen's sake.

by Anonymousreply 1501/16/2013

His supposed role as Hugh Hefner is just one part among dozens of roles he's played or will play.

by Anonymousreply 1601/16/2013

I like what Franco is doing here, not my cup of tea by any means, but I respect his conviction to his story-telling and vision.

I only wish he would focus his "interest" in stories with a little more depth.

by Anonymousreply 1701/16/2013
I'm mostly a heterosexual.

What?

by Anonymousreply 1801/16/2013

People don't always take him seriously when he plays his little closet games. One month he's in the closet, the next month he's halfway out but his foot is still in the door.

by Anonymousreply 1901/16/2013

R19, I think the "I'm mostly a heterosexual" comment was made by a poster above, not Franco.

by Anonymousreply 2001/16/2013

I want to see Franco perform a sex act on another man.

That is all.

by Anonymousreply 2101/16/2013

R21, I think he did so on a dildo in his last movie, but I think that's as close as we're going to get.

by Anonymousreply 2201/16/2013

which film was that, r22?

by Anonymousreply 2301/16/2013

I'm not sure, R23. But there was a lot of discussion about it here at the time. I think it was a year or so ago so I guess you could check his list of films and it would be one of the ones within the last few years.

by Anonymousreply 2401/16/2013

That was The Broken Tower, the Hart Crane biopic. Franco gave a blowjob to Michael Shannon, but it was a "prosthetic penis." I didn't see the movie, so I don't know how much you actually saw.

by Anonymousreply 2501/16/2013

You can see the shot of him blowing a dildo at this link. It's not all that clear.

by Anonymousreply 2601/16/2013

why doesn't he just go around and have lots of sex with men and film it cinema verite style and then take his show on the road, giving a blow by blow narrative of what he was feeling

by Anonymousreply 2701/16/2013

Did he film it in the shadows to hint that he might actually be blowing a real one?

by Anonymousreply 2801/16/2013

thx r26! yum!

by Anonymousreply 2901/16/2013

R26 what's the point of him pleasuring a dildo? Is pleasuring a word? Hmm not sure. Anyway, are we sure Franco isn't gay? He sure seems obsessed with the gay lifestyle.

by Anonymousreply 3001/16/2013

James Franco gave me great pleasure, time after time after time. Sucks dick like a pro.

by Anonymousreply 3101/16/2013

I like his style of coming out. Making you talk and making you question. Good for him.

by Anonymousreply 3201/16/2013

He can always try the real thing...

by Anonymousreply 3301/16/2013

He's so edgy and out there... YAWN...

by Anonymousreply 3401/16/2013

I like him, I have no idea why everyone else hates him so vehemently

by Anonymousreply 3501/16/2013

He gets fucked by Michael Shannon he gives a blow job to a twink

by Anonymousreply 3601/16/2013

Dylan Goodwin. He is in a few other Franco movies

by Anonymousreply 3701/16/2013

Please respect his privacy.

by Anonymousreply 3801/16/2013

In The Broken Tower his character blows his boyfriend in a pickup truck before leaving town. The scene was dark but erotic and there was some affection between the fellows in addition to the oral.

by Anonymousreply 3901/17/2013

James gives a pretty decent bj. No gag reflex.

by Anonymousreply 4001/17/2013

well?

by Anonymousreply 4101/17/2013
I have no idea why everyone else hates him so vehemently

The Hate Troll lashes out vehemently at R35. He can't comprehend the difference between hate and dislike.

by Anonymousreply 4201/17/2013

I've been over him for quite some time now. His stupid little side projects are just "Look at me! Aren't I edgy?!" bullshit. It's tiresome. And the whole "Are I or aren't I gay" schtick is old. Only a bozo wouldn't know that he's gay.

by Anonymousreply 4301/17/2013
Hell, I knew she was a dyke when she was a tyke.

That must have been [italic]some[/italic] Coppertone ad!

by Anonymousreply 4401/17/2013

Did you know that Brian DePalma wanted to direct 1980's "Cruising" but couldn't get financing for the film. He decided to direct "Dressed to Kill" instead. Cruising could have been so much more interesting in DePalma's hands.

by Anonymousreply 4501/17/2013

"Madonna has nice costumes?

by: Lady GaGa"

Nicer than your costumes, which you can't even fit in to without ripping.

by Anonymousreply 4601/17/2013
According to Cruising's director William Friedkin, all of the deleted footage was shot inside actual gay clubs and depicted "graphic homosexuality with Pacino watching, and with the intimation that he may have been participating."

How would they have done that?

by Anonymousreply 4701/17/2013

Friedkin hired actual gay bar patrons for the leather bar scenes. His production crew would recruit them a couple of days before the scenes were shot. They were told to tone their actions down for the camera.

If they toned it down, I can only imagine how raunchy leather bars really were during that time. In the movie, guys are seen getting fisted in the bar, and guys are bent over the pool table with their bare asses in the air waiting for somebody to come fuck them.

by Anonymousreply 4801/17/2013

R48, you're sweet.

Do you burn loveberry candles as you park your waxed bottom on those satin sheets, waiting for your hubbin to finish his shower, a roll of plastic wrap close by in case things get "crazy"?

by Anonymousreply 4901/17/2013

I like Franco.

by Anonymousreply 5001/17/2013

Franco is annoying sometimes, but we have to remember he is on the side of good overall.

by Anonymousreply 5101/17/2013

He's much too self-consciously "arty."

by Anonymousreply 5201/17/2013

I think it's certainly true that he's become too focused on 'performance art' in recent years, R52. In the early years of his career he wasn't as fixated with it.

by Anonymousreply 5301/17/2013
Franco is off his rocker.

I think this was established when he randomly decided he wanted to do a soap opera a few years ago, in the middle of a flourishing film career.

As whacked as he is, I find I have a soft spot for him.

by Anonymousreply 5401/18/2013

R54, as I mentioned above, that was part of Franco's 'performance art' phase - it was all very much part of what he wanted to do. It didn't hurt him at all. He was nominated for an Oscar not long after.

by Anonymousreply 5501/18/2013

He was nominated for an Oscar BEFORE he appeared on General Hospital. Speaking of the Oscars, I feel like he severely damaged his career with his shitty co-hosting. I'm sure some Hollywood bigwigs felt he was disrespectful by being so unprepared and detached.

by Anonymousreply 5601/18/2013

You are mistaken, R56.

Franco's first appearance on General Hospital was in November 2009.

Franco was nominated for an Oscar for 127 Hours in January 2011.

by Anonymousreply 5701/18/2013

Franco is too weird.
