Lifetime Cancels "Drop Dead Diva" After Four Seasons

Lifetime has pulled the plug on its veteran drama "Drop Dead Diva" after four seasons, reports.

The show's most-recent run averaged 2.297 million viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49, putting it behind Lifetime's two other scripted originals "Army Wives" (3.084 million viewers, 1.0 adults 18-49 rating) and "The Client List" (2.515 million viewers, 0.9 adults 18-49 rating).

New seasons of "Army Wives" and "The Client List" are on tap this year, alongside newcomer "Devious Maids." Three other drama pilots - "Cinnamon Girl," "The Secret Lives of Wives" and "Witches of East End" - also recently completed production.

But I love the Diva...

Will there at least be a finale?

We were left with a cliffhanger.

by Anonymousreply 101/16/2013

Nope, it's never coming back. {sob}

by Anonymousreply 201/16/2013

Can HBO bring it back and replace those awful Girls with some real Divas.

by Anonymousreply 301/16/2013

I am sending Lifetime a message to bring back the Diva for a finale.

How did the main chick get this show??? She's done nothing, and has done nothing since getting this show.

by Anonymousreply 506/08/2013

Uh, they brought this back for another year. And the "main chick" was/is a pretty good actress.

by Anonymousreply 606/08/2013

R6, then why does she only have 3 credits to her name?

by Anonymousreply 706/08/2013

Everybody has to start somewhere, r7.

DDD is a guilty pleasure of mine. IMO Brooke Elliott is great.

by Anonymousreply 806/08/2013

Maybe they can do a lifetime movie to tie up the loose ends.

by Anonymousreply 906/08/2013

R9 see r6

by Anonymousreply 1006/08/2013

R9, it got un-cancelled. Season 5 starts this month.

I was willing to buy the premise, but it was ultimately too cutesy for me. I don't watch any of Lifetime's scripted dramas (unless you count Dance Moms) but I'm hoping Devious Maids is good.

The premise is meaningless. A skiiny model merged inside of a lawyer? It's so stupid. It's just a normal show with a gimmick that was rendered inconsequential after the first handful of episodes.
