Congress' Approval Rating Is 9%

Has it ever been this low, and which party will this help in coming elections?

It will take masterful PR and candidate recruitment on the part of the Democrats to overcome Republican gerrymandering. Just in terms of raw votes cast, they should have won the House as well, but since the state GOPs got to oversee the re-districting, it will be much harder.

There's also the problem that people tend to be a little schizophrenic in their views on Congress. A person might dislike the job that Congress is doing as a whole, but still be fond of his/her own Congressperson.

It won't have any impact on 2014 elections. Incumbents will be re-elected thanks to gerrymandering. Americans don't elect Congress, they elect congressmen, and while Americans don't like Congress, they tend to like their congressman.

I think there's going to be an overhaul of Congress, gerrymandering or not. This is the most hated Congress in history.

They already have lost leadership in the Republican party, and are seen as down right evil in not voting on Sandy aid. Their insistence on not raising taxes on the rich will only hurt them more. I predict there will be a full on democratic majority in house and senate after 2014.

R4, the base supports the rejection of Sandy aid. The South and rural areas agree with Republican radicals.

We can take Congress back by running progressives in the 2013 primaries in BOTH parties. The primary voting pool is so small that it can be done. In fact, that's why we have such an evil Congress, because rich folk and corporations realized this twenty years ago.
