John Barrowman has been injured during a pantomime performance of Jack and the Beanstalk.

The former Doctor Who star is said to have fallen from a live horse during a matinee show that took place at Glasgow's Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center (SECC) earlier today (January 4).

According to stv, the actor was taken to Western Infirmary hospital as a precaution after complaining of back pain.

A cast member reassured the audience in attendance that the Glasgow-born actor, performer and presenter had "no broken bones, just bruises".

A spokeswoman for the SECC added that Barrowman's understudy and cousin Greg Barrowman had stepped in to finish the rest of the show.

Starring alongside Barrowman in the production - due to end its run on Sunday, January 6 - are Scottish comedy duo the Krankies.

Janette Tough - 'Wee Jimmy Krankie' - only returned to performing two years ago after she was almost killed following an on-stage panto accident in 2004.

Tough suffered a fractured skull after falling from a mechanical beanstalk at the Pavilion Theatre, but has since made a full recovery.

Hopefully he fell on his big ass and was cushioned.

by Anonymousreply 101/04/2013

He really shouldn't have been trying that with a horse in front of children.

by Anonymousreply 201/04/2013

Was he riding the horse bareback?

by Anonymousreply 301/04/2013

He has a big ass, R1? Link please.

What is a live horse doing in a Panto? If they had given the job to two actors in an unconvincing horse costume, the way they're supposed to, this never would have happened!

Who is this person, again?

by Anonymousreply 601/04/2013

Frightening. He came frighteningly close to becoming another Chris Reeve. Given the frightening accidents associated with the play it almost seems cursed.

Isn't he well-known in the UK, R6?

Nice try, but MANY people know who John Barrowman is thanks to Dr. Who and Torchwood.

by Anonymousreply 901/04/2013

It wasn't fatal, unfortunately.

True, R9. 'Doctor Who' is one of the most famous British programs in the World, so some people definitely know who he is.

However, now that Captain Jack has been absent from the show for the past several years he may become less well-known than he was back in the David Tennant days.

I hope his hubby Scott is massaging JB's bruised butt.

by Anonymousreply 1201/04/2013

during our horse back riding lesson he only rode bareback

by Anonymousreply 1301/04/2013

It's not the first time he got thrown from a horse - it happened when he was fucking that big black man in a DC steamroom while doing COMPANY back about 10 years ago.
