The Jason Bateman thread got me to thinking. I'd love to see Cyndi Lauper, Allison Arnigram, Terrence Trent D'Arby and Tom Wopat make a comeback.
Who would you like to see make a comeback?
|by Anonymous||reply 133||01/17/2013|
Jason Bateman's an entitled, used up, fugly cunt.
I seriously hate that asshole and hope he remains in obscurity.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||01/02/2013|
Spill, R1. I can tell you got some real dirt.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||01/02/2013|
One of the reasons I hate that Bateman douche linked below. Yeah, it was over two years ago. But he went online (or maybe he gave TMZ a statement, I can't remember) saying something to the effect that he was a busy actor and that he felt he'd helped the company promote their product by being there so he thought it was just fine and dandy that they'd come pick him out of line and escort him in.
What a complete asshole. And not even a truly famous asshole.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||01/02/2013|
I want my Bradys back. I want Greg, Marcia, Jan, Peter, Bobby, Cindy and Mom Brady back in a new show. Especially Greg!!! All played by the original actors. Hell, even throw in Cousin Oliver and Alice. The Brady Bunch was the best show ever on television and we need a return to quality. It would be a groovy show and the most far out thing we've seen in decades.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||01/02/2013|
How about Brendan Fraser? He's made some shitty choices in movies, but he's still funny as hell as well as tall and, when he wants to be, lithe and muscular.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||01/02/2013|
Melissa Gilbert and the SHITBRA!
|by Anonymous||reply 6||01/02/2013|
R5: Mmmm, Brendan. I'd love to pull his toupee off and lick the top of his head clean.

R7 Isn't that Ben Affleck? LOL
|by Anonymous||reply 11||01/02/2013|
Jesus, here we go with the anti-Madonna loon who'll now post incessantly about old Madge and what a cunt she is.
R8 = Thread Killer
|by Anonymous||reply 12||01/02/2013|
Brenda Dickson. It's about the time someone took a chance on that hot mess of a queen. She makes Deidre Hall and Susan Lucci look small time in comparison!
|by Anonymous||reply 13||01/02/2013|
Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, Kristy McNichol, Jimmy McNichol, Scott Baio, The Bay City Rollers, Lance Kerwin, Debby Boone and Linda Blair, Jimmy Baio, Todd Bridges, and the annoying little girl on The Love Boat.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||01/02/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 15||01/02/2013|
[quote] old Madge and what a cunt she is.
I agree, that shouldn't be done!
After all, why be redundant and tell everyone what we all already know? That whore, I mean horse, is (metaphorically) dead. No need to whip it further.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||01/02/2013|
R13 A B. Dick reality show would be amusing....but sort of sad. Brenda is OUT THERE.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||01/02/2013|
Good one on Todd Bridges. He was a vet with PTSD on Everybody Hates Chris and still had great comedy chops as well as making his character someone you cheered for. He was the best actor on Diff'rent Strokes (not saying a lot) but he was in some tearjerking 70s movie and was excellent in that too.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||01/02/2013|
Kiss. Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter (he was the cute little teddy bear, you know) were just the grooviest. I want to be able to use my Love Gun lunch box again without embarrassment.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||01/02/2013|
Helen Reddy and Ralph Carter.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||01/02/2013|

Andy Dick, but only because he's crazy.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||01/02/2013|
Patti Page. I haven't seen her in ages. It's time for a comeback.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||01/02/2013|
Brian De Palma
|by Anonymous||reply 28||01/02/2013|
Todd Bridges aged nicely too.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||01/02/2013|
At least you could spell Alison Arngrim correctly, OP, so this thread would turn up on her Google alert.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||01/02/2013|
Lisa Fucking Stansfield

[quote]saying something to the effect that he was a busy actor and that he felt he'd helped the company promote their product by being there so he thought it was just fine and dandy that they'd come pick him out of line and escort him in.
Link to this made-up bullshit?
As for the OP, Cyndi Lauper still tours and occasionally releases new music. She was on Celebrity Apprentice, too. She's just too crazy to be a seriously big deal again. (Same with TTD.)
Tom Wopat's in Django Unchained and he does work semi-regularly.
As for Madonna, her tour was the top-grossing tour of the year.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||01/02/2013|
Frederica von Stade, Allan Kayser, Kreskin, Aled Jones, Donna Theodore, Debbie Shapiro, Scott Wise
|by Anonymous||reply 33||01/02/2013|
Christopher Atkins. I totally fell in love with his sweet persona on that reality show a few years back where former idols tried out for a comeback. He seems really genuine, and still so sexy.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||01/02/2013|
In all fairness, Bateman later apologized for going along with Apple pulling him out of line.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||01/02/2013|
Brendan Fraser is STILL funny? When was he funny in the first place?
|by Anonymous||reply 36||01/02/2013|
Doesn't Cyndi have a show on cable now?
I'm hoping Wentworth Miller will have a comeback with Loft and Stoker due out the same time.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||01/02/2013|
He's one of the few who can out-quip Jon Stewart, might be the only one. His cameo in Brain Candy nearly stole the movie and he's great in comedy movies. He's a funny guy. Smart too and Canadian so he's not a dick about it.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||01/02/2013|
[quote]Doesn't Cyndi have a show on cable now?
Yes, she's on that show with Fran Drescher.
I wish once and for all, that Tatum O'Neal would conquer her demons and make a comeback. I have always liked her.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||01/03/2013|
Not the original poster, but Brendan Fraser was good in Airheads and even Encino Man. Oh and George of the Jungle - that movie was surprisingly funny. The bit with the horse still cracks me up.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||01/03/2013|

R41: Good call on those! :). I would like to see Harrison Ford make a comeback. I really miss seeing him in good roles. He was on such a winning streak, and then...

Cyndi Lauper has already made about 3 comebacks too many. She's an overrated bitch, cannot stand her ever since she did that Trump reality show. She needs to go away...stat!

Blair, Jo, Natalie, Pootie and Mrs. Garrett.

Whet to Mike Myers?
Man, I non-stop giggled throughout Wayne's World and Austin Powers; all of them.
Did "The Love Guru" cause him to permanntly retire and hide? I heard he was going to produce a bioflick of Kieth Moon. Fine, if he's only producing because he's too old to play him. Besides, one can know that Moon is the best rock & roll drummer ever but still, his life isn't fodder for a film.
Where are you Myers?

Crystal Waters, Cathy Dennis, Cece Peniston, Karyn White, Sa-Fire, Haddaway, SNAP!, Black Box...

Faye Dunaway!!! People seem to forget all the great screen work she did prior to "Mommie Dearest". Let's give her a break!
|by Anonymous||reply 58||01/03/2013|
the novelist Tom Robbins
|by Anonymous||reply 59||01/03/2013|
R59 - Agree with all three.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||01/03/2013|
Karen Allen is now a textile artist.
But I would love to see her more onscreen. She was the main reason I saw that last Indiana Jones movie.

Jason Bateman is in tons of movies. He hardly needs a comeback.
Tom Wopat is in Django Unchained.

Miss Loni Anderson !!
So funny as Kiki Spelling on So noTORIous
|by Anonymous||reply 65||01/04/2013|
I'd like to see Diana Ross release one more pop/dance album before she hangs it up. All of those cheesy love songs and easy listening shit she's done the last 20 years is boring as hell. I want another "Swept Away" or "Workin' Overtime"-type album; something current.

Abe Vigoda is seconds away from becoming a major film star of epic proportions.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||01/04/2013|
Aren't any of you afraid of what some of these people must look like now? Dear God, they are ancient.
I vote for LiLo. Yes, she's in rough shape, but still young enough to turn it around. She was cute and talented as a teen. It's sad to see her throw it all away.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||01/04/2013|
Cher, Barbra Striesand, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan. Also Jamie Lee Curtis
|by Anonymous||reply 73||01/04/2013|
Comeback?!...... I hate that word. It's a return, a return to the millions of people who have never forgiven me for deserting the screen.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||01/04/2013|
I think Miss Dionne Warwick is due for a comeback. I know last we heard from her here she was stuck in Brazil with her handmaid Cindi and a few cartons of cigarettes....
|by Anonymous||reply 75||01/04/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 76||01/04/2013|
I would say either Miss Angie Dickinson or Miss Susan Anton.

Because every now and then I fall apart.....

|by Anonymous||reply 81||01/05/2013|
Cyndi just won a grammy for memphis blues and her tour sold out many locations. She was a hoot when she toured with Dr. John. Cyndi is doing fine and she is not crazy.
Teri Garr is too ill for a comeback. She'll be dead before 2013 ends.
I want Kay Lenz and mimi Kuzyk. Maybe they can do a grammie lezzie flick. They've been around forever and need starring vehicles so they can win Oscars, tonys and lifetime validation awards.
|by Anonymous||reply 82||01/05/2013|

No, she didn't.

Oh yes she is!

R80 wants to know about the SHITBRA.
Who wants this one? : - )
|by Anonymous||reply 85||01/05/2013|
Cyndi Lauper needs to do a tour of her hits songs and forget about the pretentious crap she's released for the last 20 yrs. No one gives a crap about that. She's also spreading herself too thin, has become annoying and overexposed!
|by Anonymous||reply 86||01/05/2013|
Kim Carnes has an interesting back catalog and with a small tight rock band could do a fabulous set of her songs. She deserves a comeback.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||01/05/2013|
Dee Dee Rescher
|by Anonymous||reply 88||01/05/2013|
"The Comeback" with Lisa Kudrow
|by Anonymous||reply 89||01/05/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 90||01/05/2013|
Paul Davis (his songs)
|by Anonymous||reply 91||01/05/2013|
Would love to see Duran Duran get another top ten hit. Their last album was great, but it didn't seem to really go anywhere.
I'd also love for Thomas Dolby to have another hit. His last album was... kinda meh (his weakest). Which is sad, because the ones before that were really strong even if they didn't do that well in popularity.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||01/05/2013|
Vicki Lawrence (for her music)
|by Anonymous||reply 93||01/05/2013|
Rosanne Cash (but only if she'll tour with her 80s hits with Rodney Crowell!)
|by Anonymous||reply 94||01/05/2013|
Valerie Carter, a truly amazing singer - all of her albums are superlative!
|by Anonymous||reply 95||01/05/2013|

Jan Hooks,Molly Shannon and Cheri Oteri.

I thought their music sucked, the Dixie Chicks. Absolutely worthless, just terrible singing, they destroyed that Stevie Nicks song.

Lulu (but with the right collaborators, i.e Jeff Beck et al., not the latest boyband)
|by Anonymous||reply 113||01/08/2013|
Joey Heatherton could've been incredible in the Chicago revival. Like Melanie Griffith. But with chops.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||01/08/2013|
Two people I never want to see return: Mike Myers and that heifer Ashanti. Neither one was good at what they did.
|by Anonymous||reply 115||01/08/2013|
r114, have your seen Joey Heatherton in the last 10 yrs.? Her looks are gone, her mind is gone, she's a junkie, her chops are nonexistent.
|by Anonymous||reply 116||01/08/2013|
agree, especially Ashanti, a no talent whore.
|by Anonymous||reply 117||01/08/2013|
I was thinking in the early days of the revival (1996+). But I concede it's rather a pipe dream.
|by Anonymous||reply 118||01/08/2013|
Don't call it a comeback, but Helen Reddy is playing BB King's here in NYC next month and has a rather nice photo to promote it, a pic of her laughing. She looks good. Hope she does "Angie Baby". Also Sheila E, and John Corbett are coming there.

The winner of this thread is Valerie Cherish in "The Comeback" - funny series, funnier than "Friends" ever was.
|by Anonymous||reply 129||01/13/2013|
r128 - That's Peter Ostrum. He's a vet now with no interest in show business.
Carrie Fisher (as an actress)
|by Anonymous||reply 130||01/13/2013|
Chloe Webb's made something of a comeback playing William H Macy's estranged wife in Shameless.
