David Strathairn ill on stage?

I found this on IMDB: (Dec.17th)

[quote]Does anyone know how David S. is, and what made him feel so bad they had to bring down the curtain and replace him in the middle of a scene in yesterday's performance of the THE HEIRESS on Broadway? Reportedly, it happened during a scene where his character was feeling ill, but David the actor truly was sidelined by illness. Hope he's better soon!

Anyone have the scoop?

great actor! Loved him in "Delores Clairborne"

by Anonymousreply 101/02/2013

I love David!!! I hope it was just a bug and he is better.

by Anonymousreply 201/02/2013

There has been both flu and flu-related stomach bugs going around NYC over the last month, so that could be it.

Or he just couldn't take Chastain's lousy performance any longer.

by Anonymousreply 301/02/2013

Why, exactly, is there a Jessica Chastain?

What a useless hair box.

by Anonymousreply 401/02/2013

I'll nurse his hot ass back to health. I'll start with a tongue bath and then...

by Anonymousreply 501/02/2013

In the first season of "Alphas" he was styled quite needlessly to look like an old man. They stopped that in the second season.

I love him, but his character on "Alphas" is unbearable. All the characters are, and the writing is horrible. I only watch it for the camp value.

by Anonymousreply 601/02/2013

I remember him "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd." Anyone else a fan of that propgram?

by Anonymousreply 701/02/2013

I love Alphas.

It could use some improvement- and I agree Strathairn's character needed to be less doddering, but if they invest in it- it could be a great show.

I hope it comes back.

by Anonymousreply 801/02/2013

R7 yes, oh yes. I watched that all the time in high school.

(Despite it obviously being aimed at an older audience.)

I thought he was megasexy then, and still do now.

by Anonymousreply 901/02/2013

He was molten-hot in "Passion Fish".

by Anonymousreply 1001/02/2013

R10 - yes!

by Anonymousreply 1101/02/2013

No, Debra Winger wasn't in it.

by Anonymousreply 1401/02/2013

[R9] - I think we need to talk about dating.

by Anonymousreply 1501/02/2013

Passion Fish:

by Anonymousreply 1601/02/2013

I love PASSION FISH, but to see him in all his near-naked glory, watch A MAP OF THE WORLD sometime, which also has terrific performances by Sigourney Weaver and Julianne Moore (even though the film weakens in the 2nd half due to bad directing).

by Anonymousreply 1701/02/2013

Loved him in "Good Night and Good Luck" and "Eight Men Out."

by Anonymousreply 1801/02/2013

So has anybody else heard of his being ill?

I thought the DL broadway queens would be all over it.

by Anonymousreply 1901/03/2013

He's over 60 and not a diva, so the DL Broadway queens can't be bothered.

by Anonymousreply 2001/03/2013

Jesus r21, that's not funny. Go away.

by Anonymousreply 2201/03/2013

He's got eyelashes women would kill for- always looks like he has on eyeliner.

by Anonymousreply 2301/03/2013

R18:

LOVE Good Night and Good Luck. I've always been of fan, but he was never handsome to me until seeing that film.

He was featured in a Vogue spread in the January 2012 issue:

by Anonymousreply 2401/03/2013

That is such a bizarre spread, r24. But he's smoking hot in it.

by Anonymousreply 2501/03/2013

He will turn 64 on 1/26/2013. He is still smoking hot.

by Anonymousreply 2601/03/2013

R7/R15, we should.

OH! That was YOU that was the OTHER viewer of Molly Dodd! LOL

I seriously CRIED a little when I found out they were posted on YouTube.

by Anonymousreply 2701/04/2013

Plays Lincoln's Secretary of State Seward opposite Daniel Day Lewis.

Will he get a Supporting Actor nomination?

by Anonymousreply 2801/04/2013

I hope David is not ill. I checked his IMDB page and he has nothing listed for 2013. I know The Heiress ends in February, and he probably Alphas. It's strange he has nothing else.

by Anonymousreply 2901/06/2013

R27 -- back when the show was running as first run episodes I used to send videocassettes to a penpal in Europe who was absolutely smitten with the series! Molly Dodd's mom was a hoot! The show defined quirkiness!

by Anonymousreply 3001/06/2013

No, R28. The Supporting Actor nomination for LINCOLN will definitely go to Tommy Lee Jones.

by Anonymousreply 3101/07/2013

How is it that we're not discussing his sexuality? Did the DL have a collective stroke?

by Anonymousreply 3201/07/2013

We've discussed his sexuality in the past. Definitely straight.

Pity.

R31 is right - Jones had the more showboating role in LINCOLN, along with James Spader. But it never hurts to have a hit Speilberg film on your resume.

by Anonymousreply 3301/07/2013

His last name conjures the sensation of having a hair stuck in your teeth that keeps grazing your tongue and making you gag.

by Anonymousreply 3401/08/2013

I think he looks ill in that Vogue spread. He's smaller and thinner than the woman!

by Anonymousreply 3501/08/2013

He's one of my favorite actors. I wish they'd release The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd on dvd.

by Anonymousreply 3601/09/2013

Well, the TV show "Alphas" has been officially cancelled. David has plenty of time to do theatre this year.

by Anonymousreply 3701/16/2013

Who can forget the elevator scene between him and Blair Brown?

by Anonymousreply 3801/16/2013

David Strathairn plays Ryan Gosling's boss in the movie "Fracture".

by Anonymousreply 3901/17/2013

If you have Netflix streaming, there's a TV movie he did with Mary McDonnell called [italic]Evidence of Blood[/italic].

by Anonymousreply 4001/17/2013

Love him. He plays the "every husband" to all of my favorite older actresses.
