Can You Get Finger Cancer?

I quit smoking years ago after a few decades of regular smoking.

I had the telltale yellow tar and nicotine stain on the fingers that held my cigarettes, but this stain faded years ago.

I've noticed that a few times a year I slough off skin in this area on one of my fingers.

It's like a sunburn peel -- just the outer layers of epidermis. The skin peels off painlessly more or less as a sheet.

Any other former smokers experience this?

Should I make arrangements for someone to come get my stuff?

I hope not. How else would I pick my nose.

Yes, OP. Go to a dermatologist and have him/her take a look at it.

Most skin cancers are not particularly dangerous.

Melanoma, however, is highly virulent.

A trip to a dermatologist is painless.
