You get to stream plus get 4 free rentals a month. Is it better than Netflix?
Has anyone tried Redbox Streaming?

Where did that picture of the Redbox and sign come from? That pic is nowhere at the link.

Just got an email saying the service is live now with a 1 month free trail. They won't let you see what content they have before you sign up. Is it any good?

I was wondering too, r1.

Looks like a good collection, r2.

I know the streaming service is on Beta, but maybe you should wait. I don't know.

But I only have VHS!

I just signed up and it's so gay. On the main page are all gay movies like eCupid, Vinnie the Chin, Going Down in La La Land, House of Boys, Sister Mary, Making the Boys, Change of Life, Captain America, Surprise Surprise, Hisss, Home Wrecker starring porn star Dylan Vox, Unsolved Surburbia, FagBug, Out in the Silence, White on Rice, Absolutely Positive and many many more.
WTF, are they trying to scare away the straight people who sign in to this service? No wonder people are complaining about the crappy choices available. Maybe they could only afford to buy the rights to stream low budget gay movies.

I guess the pricing is not that bad. $8 a month for 4 DVD rentals and streaming. If you want to rent Blu-rays, it's $9 a month. 4 Blu-rays at $1.50 is $6, so for just $3 you get to stream all these gay movies. Seems like a good deal. I don't know why straight people would want this service though.

Has anyone tried this yet?

my netflix was down yesterday with that message. I have Roku. Went to settings, yada yada, it came back. I can't remember exactly what I did but I didn't need to reboot the Roku which is a pain.

Can they compete with Netflix?
|by Anonymous||reply 11||05/12/2013|
Any update on the service? I received an email notice from Roku that the service was available. It looks like a pretty good deal.

R12 here. Another thought I had - I currently subscribe to Netflix streaming and single DVD plan. How does the DVD selection at Redbox compare to Netflix? I think I might drop the DVD plan with Netflix since the DVD plan with Redbox allows for 4 monthly rentals.

none of the films I'd like to see are there

Have a look at Amazon Prime. The $79 a year membership includes unlimited free streaming of thousands of films. Plus, it entitles you to free two-day shipping on anything you buy through Amazon. I think it's a much better deal than either Netflix or Redbox.

I have Roku and I currently subscribe to Netflix, HuluPlus and Amazon Prime. If I dropped any of those it would be HuluPlus.
I got the Redbox ad from Roku but they don't have any movies I want to see.

I was curious about Amazon Prime R15, but it seems that a lot of the stuff I'd like to watch doesn't fall under that. If I have to pay 1.99 or 2.99 to see something, why bother?
Also, do they have a separate section that lists shows and movies that are free/covered under Prime? When I've looked at it everything seems commingled.
I do like the idea of two day shipping.

Go to Amazon Instant Video. Up toward the top you'll see Prime Instant Video.

I have Amazon Prime (love the 2 day shipping), but if I want to watch Scandal it will cost $29.99 per season. Yikes, no thanks. I can get it for free with with my Netflix membership. Plus, I'm a rabid fan of both House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, so I guess I'll be a slave to Netflix forever.

Sounds like maybe you got cyber-profiled, r7.
I go to the main page for the Instant service to see what titles they have available, and all I see are the New Releases and Most Popular movies.
Seems like what they sorted for you was far more interest based.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||08/14/2013|
Yep, I think Rebox must have smelled R7's fresh cookies.

I don't have Redbox Streaming since I went through menopause.
