Blizzard Buying

What's on your list of items you pick up from the store if you're going to be snowed in?

Chili makings

That's all I can think of.

by Dellareply 3702/09/2013

Caftans. Earings.

by Dellareply 112/19/2012

Senate Bean Soup shit!

by Dellareply 212/19/2012

Booze. Lube.

by Dellareply 312/19/2012

Porridge and Doritos.

by Dellareply 412/19/2012

I make sure I have milk, eggs, lunchmeat, canned tomato soup, my favorite whole grain bread, and my favorite cheddar cheese block.

Those are staples. But I may want to make some homemade minestrone soup too, so I make sure I have the celery, carrots, zuchini, etc. and other stuff I need for that. Favorite frozen pizza, hot dogs, chips, ground beef, and buns too.

I try to provision for at least four or five days. I work from home and I hate to go out in bad weather. I especially love to cocoon in winter. Minnesota does that to people.

by Dellareply 512/19/2012

Vodka. Blow.

Oh wait - I'm broke!

by Dellareply 612/19/2012

Sounds yummy, r5.

by Dellareply 712/19/2012

Nothing. I usually have enough food to last me a day or two.

by Dellareply 812/19/2012

R5 you must be a fat slob pig

by Dellareply 912/19/2012

Toilet Paper

by Dellareply 1012/19/2012

coffee and baking ingredients - I love baking when I'm stuck at home in cold weather.

by Dellareply 1112/19/2012

But you also need stuff thet doesn't require cooking. Power might go out.

by Dellareply 1212/19/2012

Pet food -- I could live off my hips for the duration, but the cats start nagging after a few hours.

Bottled water in case the pipes freeze & break, wine, vodka, 7Up, coffee (I have a little camp stove for emergencies).

Peanut butter, big block of cheddar, canned sardines & vegetarian chili.

Crackers, bread.

Apples & bananas, green onions & radishes.

by Dellareply 1312/19/2012

Pot

by Dellareply 1412/19/2012

Clay kitty litter and outdoor rugs for car traction

The one good thing about a gas stove is that it works when the power goes out.

Coffee for the french press

saltines

Dog/Cat food (they come in 25 pound bags, so I'm good)

Candles

Canned broth (I buy the cartons, but they only last me a week)

Gas for the portable generator and snow blower. I have less than five gallons.

by Dellareply 1512/19/2012

Always have kitty litter and extra blankets in your car and something to eat. It sounds over the top but if you live in the north or midwest, you need it.

by Dellareply 1612/19/2012

I remember my local liquor store a couple of years ago, when the 2 blizzards were expected. The days before, lines went around the block.

I was sure to be first in line.

by Dellareply 1712/19/2012

2 cans of tuna

mushroom soup

egg noodles

half & half

shredded cheddar cheese

potato chips

Snicker's Peanut Butter Bars

What part of the country is getting snowed in?

by Dellareply 1912/20/2012

Dakotas, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, r19. We gaze up at the white trails of jetplane exhaust as the bi-coasters fly over us.

Stark, raw, outrageous beauty is everywhere.

And the best part is that it's mild; in the 30s, perfect bundle-up and take a walk weather.

by Dellareply 2012/20/2012

Della, I thought you were in some part of Long Island.

by Dellareply 2112/20/2012

Although I'd be very proud to say so, r21, nope, I'm a born and bred life-long Cheesehead.

Lots of people move away because of the weather; I love living here for the same reason. I couldn't imagine living in a climate that never changes. Here you get four distinct seasons, although, I'll admit, for the past few decades the lines seem a bit blurred.

by Dellareply 2212/20/2012

Blizzard? Never seen one.

by Dellareply 2312/20/2012

I second r1

by Dellareply 2412/20/2012

The only "Blizzard" ever seen in our town is when someone brought in a chocolate blizzard (milkshake) from the Dairy Queen on the mainland.

We had snow flurries here on Dec. 24, 1990 - a major date in the history of this laid back oceanfront island.

by Dellareply 2512/20/2012

I first heard about the upcoming storms on the car radio. Since I was driving past a noisy bus when the report started, the first part wasn't clearly audible & it sounded like the guy was announcing "lizard warnings in the midwest". Not sure how to prepare for that.

by Dellareply 2612/20/2012

Della, I'm in GB and I agree with you. I've already shoveled twice and gone to the gym. I LOVE this stuff!

by Dellareply 2712/20/2012

I can never decide so I just get a turkey sub from Subway and stick it in the fridge. And weed.

by Dellareply 2812/20/2012

Hey, r27!

Stay Safe.

by Dellareply 2912/20/2012

r25, where are you?

by Dellareply 3012/20/2012

Like it matters? We're all going to be dead within 24 hours.

by Dellareply 3112/20/2012

Mallomars

by Dellareply 3212/20/2012

I want ice cream and chocolate cake, then I'll be in a sugar coma.

by Dellareply 3312/20/2012

Della, which half of the half and half did you enjoy most?

by Dellareply 3412/20/2012

Recreational Drugs and Thai Food.

by Dellareply 3512/20/2012

I want Candy!

by Dellareply 3602/09/2013

I bought 10 cans of Progresso soup and a twelve pack of Sam Adadms IPA Hopology. Wish I'd gotten something cakey though.
