Breaking! Golden Eagle snatches kid from a park!

No one is safe!

by Anonymousreply 7401/28/2015

Unreal. Eagles are awesome scary.

by Anonymousreply 112/19/2012

Yikes! The child was curled up and the eagle miscalculated the weight. I bet he got clawed pretty bad. How awful!

by Anonymousreply 212/19/2012

This is why all babys should be armed!

by Anonymousreply 312/19/2012

That two-timing bastard Zeus!

by Anonymousreply 412/19/2012

WW for R3!

by Anonymousreply 512/19/2012

That is unbelievable! I can't believe this isn't on all the news channels.

by Anonymousreply 612/19/2012

Eagles are like butterflies - majestic, beautiful from a distance, but gross and/or freaky up close. In the case of a butterfly, up close it's a disgusting bug with pretty wings.

by Anonymousreply 712/19/2012

On second thought this looks fake.

by Anonymousreply 812/19/2012

I think it might be fake.

by Anonymousreply 912/19/2012

I knew it was fake.

by Anonymousreply 1012/19/2012

I busted out laughing when they replayed the eagle's grab to the "Chariots of Fire" theme.

by Anonymousreply 1112/19/2012

[all posts by right wing shit-stain # a removed.]

by Anonymousreply 1212/19/2012

Not fake, it happened here in Montreal.

by Anonymousreply 1312/19/2012

Credit to the photographer for running over.....most people today would have just kept filming.

by Anonymousreply 1412/19/2012

Well, now I know how to say "Oh, shit!" in French. Thanks, OP!

by Anonymousreply 1512/19/2012

Not fake. Look at the foot position--perfect strike for a raptor.

As someone said earlier, it was just too heavy for the bird. Lucky it wasn't a Harpy eagle, or that kid would be dead.

by Anonymousreply 1612/19/2012

It's a fake. I'm glad.

by Anonymousreply 1712/19/2012
Not fake, it happened here in Montreal.

Yes, of course. It happened in Montreal so it can't be fake.

(This is so obviously fake I can't believe anyone was fooled. Gullible morons abound.)

by Anonymousreply 1812/19/2012

Does anyone remember the "Lucky Gentoo" penguin in Alaska? He was being "herded" by three killer whales. The Gentoo is the fastest of the species and it was running for its life. Finally, the whales were closing in and the penguin had a hard decision to make.

by Anonymousreply 1912/19/2012

saw that this morning. i laughed my ass off.

by Anonymousreply 2012/19/2012

Check out the video at r17's link where they use a close up.

It looks like the kid looks down right before the eagle picks him up and then you see his arm move up while he's in the air.

If this is a fake, then that's a pretty amazing doll.

by Anonymousreply 2112/19/2012

The guy who made it is on the radio right now. It was a school project. He goes to some video animation school

by Anonymousreply 2212/19/2012

Wow! That Eagle thought he was stronger than he was but if it had been a smaller child...

by Anonymousreply 2312/19/2012

The eagle would have taken it up and dropped it to kill it, right?

by Anonymousreply 2412/19/2012

R21, who said it was a doll?

Have you heard of photoshop, CGI, etc? Are you really this out of touch with technology today? Are you 90?

by Anonymousreply 2512/19/2012

That was one cocky little penguin and those were some pissed off whales.

by Anonymousreply 2612/19/2012

I remember when Helen Lawson was lifted 20 feet off the ground by an eagle when she was filming "Nanook of the North" in Alaska. Thank goodness she had the wherewithal to slug the damn bird, although it did make off with her $5000 custom-made wig.

by Anonymousreply 2812/19/2012

Mary!!!!

by Anonymousreply 2912/19/2012

As first posited above, the "Golden Eagle Snatched Kid" video was in fact the work of students at the Montreal-based animation and design school Centre NAD:

The "Golden Eagle Snatches Kid" video, uploaded to YouTube on the evening of December 18, was made by Normand Archambault, Loïc Mireault and Félix Marquis-Poulin, students at Centre NAD, in the production simulation workshop class of the Bachelors degree in 3D Animation and Digital Design.

by Anonymousreply 3012/19/2012

r25 -
"A golden eagle tries to snatch a baby in Montreal," and the video goes viral. But it's faked. Golden Eagle is a scarce visitor in the Montreal area, but the bird in the video is not a Golden Eagle, nor anything else that occurs in the wild in North America. This was clearly a setup: using a falconer's bird, and probably a [bold]fake toddler[/bold] for the distant scene. With all the ignorance about nature that's out there already, the last thing we need is this kind of stupid garbage.

So fuck you. I'm not 90, I was responding to what I read (well, skimmed) at the link.

by Anonymousreply 3112/19/2012

Someone who misspelled "babies" was seriously W&W'ed?

by Anonymousreply 3212/19/2012

R21 -

You're still a moron though.

by Anonymousreply 3312/19/2012

r25 - and you're still a mouth-breathing, Cheeto-munching basement dweller.

by Anonymousreply 3412/19/2012

Golden eagles and other large birds have been known to dive bomb small deer and even one recorded case of an eagle causing a rocky mountain goat to lose it's footing and fall. Then they eat them.

But that isn't common. All eagles are notorious for stealing other birds catches. It's estimated ospreys lose half of all their catches (they eat almost exclusively fish) to bald eagles and other eagles.

On the flip side, eagles will commonly be harassed and mobbed by much smaller birds like crows.

by Anonymousreply 3512/19/2012

Not so much too heavy as perhaps did not get a good hook on the clothes. Skin and fur easier!

To the poster making out the eagle to be some ugly disgusting creature. Well, the eagle is doing what it has evolved to do over millions of years, and do most expertly and even elegantly.

Of course it would be a terrible tragedy if it had made off with the kid. However eagle make off with other prey to survive and feed their young. So you see, it is a perfectly natural act. Brutal on the prey, life-sustaining for the species.

It is horrible watching lions etc killing sweet little baby antelope etc, or worse hyenas eating them alive- but this is part of life in their world.

Incredible video. There was some discussion on CBC this AM that it may have been a fake. Did not look it too me.

by Anonymousreply 3612/19/2012

Charlie,

It's fake.

by Anonymousreply 3712/19/2012

R32, in his defense, I'm sure most NRA members spell it that way.

This video -if it had been real- would be no where near as gruesome as that Koala who ate a kid's face off.

by Anonymousreply 3812/19/2012

R35, you underestimate the abilities of golden eagles. They go after wolves, too.

by Anonymousreply 3912/19/2012

What is charlie's damage? Always 10 minutes/10 posts behind the rest of the discussion. Like an elderly aunt you visit in the home.

It's fake. We've been over this. A bunch of students made it.

by Anonymousreply 4012/19/2012

This is horrible and tragic! Why are all of you laughing about a child being killed by an eagle?

by Anonymousreply 4112/19/2012

Let the eeeagles sooooar!

by Anonymousreply 4212/19/2012

Damn, wish I had seen this a few years ago.

by Anonymousreply 4312/19/2012

Killed and eaten before our eyes, the desiccated carcass dropped like chicken bones on a Brooklyn sidewalk.

by Anonymousreply 4412/19/2012

An eagle grabbed up our neighbor's cat and dropped him about 50 yards away - cat had some very serious lacerations and a broken leg from the fall. Neighbor said she could not believe it was happening and just screamed hysterically. Luckily she saw the eagle drop the cat and ran to get him.

We rent a summer cabin on Hornby Island, BC, and there are a lot of eagles up there. I'm not sure one would grab a baby (although I was fooled by the video!) but obviously, a 12-lb cat was vulnerable prey.

by Anonymousreply 4512/19/2012

You guys do realize that R4 is the winner, right? Despite R3's, witty reply R4 is the clear winner.

by Anonymousreply 4612/19/2012

"This is why all babys should be armed!"

Oh dear.

by Anonymousreply 4712/19/2012

Storks deliver babies, and eagles take 'em away.

by Anonymousreply 4812/19/2012

Jesus, if you don't get that was a deliberate misspelling I don't know what to say.

by Anonymousreply 4912/19/2012

If it had, that eagle would have been toast.

by Anonymousreply 5112/19/2012

The poor little goat.

by Anonymousreply 5212/19/2012

Ooh, they were right about the shadows. I didn't even see them until I looked again.

My observational skills are going to shit.

by Anonymousreply 5312/19/2012

I've always been an eagle person.

by Anonymousreply 5412/19/2012

Why didn't Hitchcock think of this when he was filming The Birds? The audience would have ape shit over it.

by Anonymousreply 5512/19/2012

That bird was hardcore r52. Why didn't the camera people help the little goat?

by Anonymousreply 5612/19/2012

Regarding r52's linked clip. Nature is brutal.

by Anonymousreply 5712/19/2012

I picture r35 as the dykey old ornithologist from the diner in "The Birds."

by Anonymousreply 5812/19/2012

charlie really is a hoot. R40 you're so right. He's always a few steps behind the pace, isn't he? But he's old and harmless and I've grown to like him. I like how he always thinks he's throwing down the gavel, giving all of the DL pearls of glorious wisdom, when really he's just making a minor fool of himself. Never change, charlie!

by Anonymousreply 5912/19/2012

He was supposed to grab Lucy but Gary talked her out of participating in the school project.

by Anonymousreply 6012/19/2012

Eagles are beautiful, but they're pretty scary up close. This is a picture of a tame one, imagine if those claws and beak were coming at your face.

by Anonymousreply 6112/19/2012

How is this:

An eagle ate my baby

by Anonymousreply 6212/19/2012

Was it Xan or Jana who turn into Eagles and Bears?

by Anonymousreply 6312/19/2012

I wish the eagle on "The Colbert Report" had a screaming baby in its beak.

by Anonymousreply 6412/19/2012

The goat video is terrifying. Poor goats!

by Anonymousreply 6512/19/2012

Eagles are the deadliest birds in the vulture family. They are known to snatch wolves, foxes and small dogs and deer. However, on the ground, they are extremely vulnerable to predators like the lynx.

by Anonymousreply 6612/19/2012

Perhaps, but this particular video was a hoax.

by Anonymousreply 6712/20/2012

I was taken be an eagle once.

by Anonymousreply 6812/20/2012
Someone who misspelled "babies" was seriously W&W'ed?

It was signed NRA, so it's keeping in context.

by Anonymousreply 6912/20/2012

All the single babies

All the single babies

All the single babies

All the single babies

If you like it then you shoulda put a wing on it.

by Anonymousreply 7012/22/2012

Even the youtube description says it's a fake, so why are people still doubting?

by Anonymousreply 7112/23/2012

Kid-snatching eagle hoax pays for a scholarship

The viral video of a Golden Eagle trying to nick off with a toddler has brought in enough money for its creators to fund a one-off scholarship.
