I like him and I like the song but holy hell this video is gay.
Cheyenne Jackson makes a music video
|by Anonymous||reply 68||06/04/2013|
Is Alan Cumming the guy at the end seen from the back?
|by Anonymous||reply 1||12/18/2012|
When I was growing up, a video like that would have been unimaginable... At least, there was no way I could have ever encountered or seen it as a confused and lonely gay kid.
It would have been helpful, I suppose (role models and all that), but I'm also pretty sure I would have thought it sucked... which might actually have been more confusing.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||12/18/2012|
He really is a talented guy.
I thought he was only an actor. Didn't know he could sing.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||12/18/2012|
Muti-talented and gorgeous gay man. What's not to like?
|by Anonymous||reply 4||12/18/2012|
[quote]I thought he was only an actor. Didn't know he could sing.
He first became famous by singing and dancing on Broadway long before he tried to make the switch into "traditonal" acting.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||12/18/2012|
That video couldn't be gayer if Cheyenne ended up getting gang-fucked in a sling by all the guys he's dancing with.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||12/18/2012|
Matt Cavanaugh had a clause in his contract that this video could not be released until one year after Arthur Laurents' death
|by Anonymous||reply 7||12/18/2012|
The Broadway-style dance numbers were much gayer than the male love interests.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||12/18/2012|
OP / R6, you write that like it's a bad thing.
I love it. Cheyenne's voice is soft, but he looks just tough enough and has sexy moves.
I'm buying the album.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||12/18/2012|
[quote]I thought he was only an actor. Didn't know he could sing.
I didn't know either, until I saw him perform, "Oh, what a beautiful morning" on the Today Show...I was very impressed with his singing voice.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||12/18/2012|
The video just doesn't go with the song. You don't see ass-shaking construction workers with a standard pop song. With disco or techno yeah but this no.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||12/18/2012|
A music video with two good looking guys as love interests would actually have the potential for a lot of crossover appeal - women are obsessed with slash these days - but it can't have this jazz hands/village people aesthetic.
I also would have paired him with a blond instead of another brunette.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||12/18/2012|
Oh, wow! Didn't expect the sad ending.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||12/18/2012|
He is gorgeous! Like the song and vid too.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||12/18/2012|
I like both him and the song A LOT.
But the video itself (with that cheesy choreography! was it by Ann Reinking in full "We Got Annie" mode?) is terrible.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||12/18/2012|
I love the construction twerkers.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||12/18/2012|
And just to be clear: I applaud the explicit homoeroticism of the video; what I object to is the wholesome cheesiness of it, which is such a dick-wilter.
It's like someone composed a very catchy, sexy, growly song for Chyenne Jackson, and then they decided to ruin it by choreographing it as if it were a perky production number for GLEE.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||12/18/2012|
He's gorgeous but the song and video are meh. Where was this filmed?
|by Anonymous||reply 18||12/18/2012|
[quote]was it by Ann Reinking in full "We Got Annie" mode?
I love you.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||12/18/2012|
First time I heard him sing; still consider it his best work
|by Anonymous||reply 20||12/18/2012|
I like his singing when he's not singing soprano. I was over the Bee-Gees many decades ago.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||12/18/2012|
You mean it's longer than 3 seconds?
Oh, my god, that pit shot made time stand still.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||12/18/2012|
The song is terrible! He can find better songs if he looks for them. And the video wasn't the right production for the song. Pass.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||12/18/2012|
R18 apparently, Bridgeport, Connecticut. Yikes!
|by Anonymous||reply 24||12/18/2012|
He has a nice voice and he looks amazing for a dude who's almost 40, but that song is crap.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||12/18/2012|
This video will be widely mocked in times to come, just like we now mock the first-ever videos from the 80s.
But, BUT! This is the first video I've seen with overt man-on-man love, and do you know how ecstatic that makes me? I like Cheyenne's voice. I don't like the song so much and the video really sucks ass. But the fact that it was made is terrific!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 26||12/18/2012|
Totally agree with r26. COOL that this is about gay romance/love or whatever but the video is bizarrely off kilter with the song. It will be mocked, for sure, but is a grand step in the right direction.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||12/18/2012|
Is that really Matt Cavenaugh as the love interest?
Seems like a weird career move!
|by Anonymous||reply 28||12/18/2012|
More likely a favor for a friend, R28, than a career move.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||12/18/2012|
That's not Alan at the end. It's one of the dancers in the background in the final dance scene.
Well, I love him, but this video should be one of Carly Simon's...it's that cheesey. And the song is meh.
I mean, basically it's a dance version of his daily tricking experiences. We get it, Cheyenne. But it doesn't work with the song at all. He's rejecting the guy through the whole video, 'tricking' with other guys, then is disappointed to see him with someone else at the end. Awful.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||12/18/2012|
Great song, great beat and you can dance to it. And it's wonderful that it's unabashedly gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||12/19/2012|
Cheyenne not only stars in the video and sings, he WROTE the song too.
This is a still from an outtake of the video...
|by Anonymous||reply 32||12/19/2012|
It is terrible, I love it.
Seriously, it makes me smile.
Showing sexy face and ass in gay ways that are not porn, what is not to like ?
|by Anonymous||reply 33||12/19/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 34||12/19/2012|
He got dem nice juicy lips.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||12/19/2012|
Great looks, great voice, great song...but that cliched Broadway show choreography SUCKED...really, really sucked.
Like GLEE-level sucked.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||12/19/2012|
This is one of the most unbelievably terrible things I have ever seen. Just...wow. Every thing about every millisecond of it; no, NANOsecond of it was just horrible. The lyrics, the chord structure of the music, the unbearably cheesy choreography, all of it. Total vomitous dreck. Retch-worthy, really. I'm barely keeping my dinner down.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||12/19/2012|
R32. I don't believe that is Cheyenne.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||12/19/2012|
Robb Sherman is the cute biracial mailman. He was on a New York Times commercial which was on about every five minutes a couple years ago.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||12/19/2012|
He was also Marty Thomas' boyfriend for a hot minute.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||12/19/2012|
Inheritors of entertainment dynasties need to realize the world has changed with the invention of internet. Nepotism doesn't work in inter-connected worldwide culture. A no name has a better chance of success under current conditions.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||12/19/2012|
[quote]The video just doesn't go with the song. You don't see ass-shaking construction workers with a standard pop song. With disco or techno yeah but this no.
Out of curiosity, I synched the video with Britney.
Surprise! It works now!
|by Anonymous||reply 42||12/19/2012|
See him all the time in the neighborhood and I don't even find him sexy. He's too chorus boy for my taste.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||12/19/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 44||12/19/2012|
R37 any person who writes like you has no credibility in judging the artistry of others.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||12/19/2012|
What r45 said.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||12/19/2012|
r45 and r46 = crazy Cheyenne fanbois
|by Anonymous||reply 47||12/19/2012|
I love it. It's sweet and cheesy and kind of adorable.
I could imagine The Archies doing a cover of it.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||12/19/2012|
What is it with Broadway boys and cheesy pop music?
|by Anonymous||reply 49||12/19/2012|
Sorry R42 it does not work in the least.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||12/19/2012|
His bug eyes and caveman brow are captivating.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||12/19/2012|
Broadway boys don't get and can't sing rock well. Just as I can't really sing Broadway shit that well.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||12/19/2012|
Gavin Creel can sing very well in a non-Broadway style. He even released a nice acoustic EP, and then went back to cheesy pop/dance for his second album.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||12/19/2012|
I guess I'm the only one who liked it--the video, the song, the man and the men.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||12/19/2012|
Sorry but Gavin Creel (WHO?) doesn't count. How many hits has he had? NONE.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||12/19/2012|
This song is stuck in my head now. He's very good looking and has a nice voice.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||12/19/2012|
[quote]His bug eyes and caveman brow are captivating.
He's one of those men whose extremely strong features make him look very handsome from a distance but up close on the screen he looks scary. He should stick to the Broadway stage like Raul Esparza (who also has one of those faces) mostly does--Peter Gallagher (ditto) should have done the same thing.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||12/19/2012|
R54= the ghost of Nancy Walker.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||12/19/2012|
The inspiration for Cheyenne's video...
|by Anonymous||reply 59||12/19/2012|
Who's the construction worker?! Between the pits and the amazing ass he leaves poor Cheyenne in the dust.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||12/19/2012|
Incredibly cheesy video.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||12/19/2012|
That would be Josh Buscher, R60
|by Anonymous||reply 62||12/19/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 63||12/19/2012|
R9= his mother.
Hi Mrs Jackson!
|by Anonymous||reply 64||12/19/2012|
Excuse me but why should I give a flying fuck about the romantic travails of a gorgeous person? Good looking people have it fucking made and hearing them whine about this or that problem is like listening to a rich lady complain about a broken nail.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||12/19/2012|
"What do you think of this music video?
It's by Cheyenne Jackson, and I found there to be something slightly wrong with the audio quality but as I watched it I found myself enjoying it. It has a good sense of humor. And it's nice to see a gay version of this sort of music video.
And it doesn't hurt that there are some hot guys in the video."
|by Anonymous||reply 66||02/24/2013|
My video, entitled "Girl Gone Wild," was much gayer.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||02/24/2013|
Something about him makes me think he's a brutal top versus a bossy bottom.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||06/04/2013|
