by Anonymousreply 8512/15/2012

CNN is the kiss of death.

by Anonymousreply 112/12/2012

Ann Curry is the kiss of death.

by Anonymousreply 212/12/2012

Well, she can't do worse than AC ratingswise but may be cheaper, unless she does she have a big closet full of fancy raw denim jeans.

by Anonymousreply 312/12/2012

I told you guys that Jeff Zucker was no AC fan

His days will be numbered.

by Anonymousreply 412/12/2012

Who is an AC fan, r4? His show was clobbered in the ratings.

He's horrible.

by Anonymousreply 512/12/2012

"Who is an AC fan."

Are you new here? He has hundreds of devoted fan bois here who brighten their sad, pathetic lives by living vicariously through AC.

by Anonymousreply 612/12/2012

R5 you must be new around here.

I can show thread after thread with AC obsessed rabid fans who insist he is better than Cronkite and Murrow COMBINED! That nothing AC does is wrong.

by Anonymousreply 712/12/2012

It also says in the article that Zucker wants to move AC into a globe trotting journalist.

AC might not be happy with that because a) he loses his visibility (not seen 5 times a week) b) he would most certainly take a pay-cut because he is not on every night.

I told you guys that AC was a facing a pay-cut to stay, but did you guys believe me?

by Anonymousreply 912/12/2012

Keeping the awful Erin Burnett and bringing in Ann Curry? So after fucking things up on the Today Show and at NBC, Zucker is continuing this well-established trend with CNN.

[quote]I told you guys that AC was a facing a pay-cut to stay, but did you guys believe me?

No, and we still don't.

by Anonymousreply 1112/12/2012

Give it time R11

by Anonymousreply 1212/12/2012

Anderson messed up when he decided to go the talk show route. He cheapened his brand. He was a good reporter before that.

I will say, he commanded a certain level of respect for his reporting, especially in comvat zones, that, when Larry King left, Anderson could have taken on the show, similar format, and he'd have do it well. Sorry, I just had to level a dig at Piers Mrogan. I cannot stand that pig. I hope they dump him. If the get rid of Anderson & keep Piers I will be pissed.

I like Ann Curry. Maybe she will help CNN get back on it's feet. Maybe she will replace Piers. I hate Piers.

by Anonymousreply 1312/12/2012

[quote] Maybe she will replace Piers.

Piers isn't going anywhere because Zucker is a Piers fan.

Seems like AC will take the first hit, which is what I said all along.

But nobody believed me.

by Anonymousreply 1412/12/2012

I still don't believe you, r14. You're no insider.

Piers is the worst, he needs to go asap. If Zucker is a truly a fan, than he has incredibly shitty taste.

by Anonymousreply 1512/12/2012

"Then", not "than".

by Anonymousreply 1612/12/2012

Didn't NBC sign Ann to a contract? Could she do both CNN and NBC or would CNN have to buy out her contract with NBC?

by Anonymousreply 1712/12/2012

[quote] I still don't believe you

And you don't believe the ny post article either?

by Anonymousreply 1812/12/2012

Actually this is a smart move. This kind of reporting is her forte, not that fluff piece bullshit they had her doing on the today show which she obviously loathed doing.

I think this might work.

by Anonymousreply 1912/12/2012

[quote] CNN have to buy out her contract with NBC?

Yep. They did the same with Deborah Norville back in the day. When they removed her from Today they offered he other gigs inside the network.

She just wanted to leave, so they let her go with her contract fully paid. On the condition she doesn't discuss her time at NBC negatively.

by Anonymousreply 2012/12/2012

I would not be surprised if Anderson leaves CNN once his contract is up.

by Anonymousreply 2112/12/2012

Zucker is probably trying to get publicity for himself and CNN by riding the coat-tails of the Ann Curry/Today show "controversey." Who knows if he's serious or not. Next he may suggest that the two Australian DJs take over for Anderson.

I don't like Ann on Today but she'd be find on CNN. Not that I watch much CNN.

by Anonymousreply 2212/12/2012

If Zucker is smart, he'll start a new daytime talk/news show with 4 women. Think "The View" but with more current topics and fewer guests. He should put Rosie O'Donnell and Jennifer Granholm on the panel.

by Anonymousreply 2312/12/2012

I don't mind that it will piss off Matt, but it pisses me off she gets another chance when a really good journalist, like Connie Chung, was totally written off. Of course, I am referring to women inthe field.

by Anonymousreply 2412/12/2012

Didn't someone here who claimed to be an insider posted that Anderson was going to be the new anchor of CBS Evening News?

by Anonymousreply 2512/12/2012

I agree that Ann would be excellent at this. Perhaps not at Anderson's expense, but I don't watch him anyways.

by Anonymousreply 2612/12/2012

I must have slept through the day when AC was a good reporter.

by Anonymousreply 2712/12/2012

Ann will fail even bigger than Anderson, because Anderson at least had his funny little giggle fits and could have fun with low brow entertainment like The Real Housewives and Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo. Ann is too serious for this kind of gig. A Larry King type of show suits her better where she can sit down with a more or less serious person of public and popular interest.

The idea of Anderson traveling through the world is kind of cool and should be right up his alley.

by Anonymousreply 2812/12/2012

[quote] The idea of Anderson traveling through the world is kind of cool and should be right up his alley.

But it would be seen as a demotion because he is being kicked out of the anchor chair, and would lose his visibility.

by Anonymousreply 2912/12/2012

r29, visibility is overrated. Quality over quantity should be Anderson's motto. Otherwise his career and image becomes a sad ol' joke.

by Anonymousreply 3012/12/2012

I'm trying to imagine anyone worth tens of millions of dollars actually giving a shit over anything like this.

by Anonymousreply 3112/12/2012

Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!Good evening!

by Anonymousreply 3212/12/2012

How unfair, they should replace Anderson, with a no-talent, obnoxious, man loving, egomaniac...Oh wait a minute...

by Anonymousreply 3312/12/2012

Perfect! They can even keep the name "AC 360".

by Anonymousreply 3412/12/2012

R32, lol!!!

by Anonymousreply 3512/12/2012

I don't like Anderson, but I can't believe they will keep Erin and get rid of him.

Those bastards!

by Anonymousreply 3612/12/2012

Ugh, they should keep AC and get rid of Wolf, Burnett, Crowley and Piers, THEY are horrible.

by Anonymousreply 3812/12/2012

Fuck all these bitches...Anderson, Ann Curry, and Erin Burnett. That white haired bastard better not even think about getting my weekend spot when he is unemployed soon. Ben should get a real job.

by Anonymousreply 3912/12/2012

Yes Don, your bf Ben DOES need to get a real job.

by Anonymousreply 4012/12/2012

[quote]Ann will fail even bigger than Anderson, because Anderson at least had his funny little giggle fits and could have fun with low brow entertainment like The Real Housewives and Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo.

I have a feeling it was his obsession with these crappy shows that made Anderson's show unwatchable.

by Anonymousreply 4112/12/2012

[quote] He should put Rosie O'Donnell and Jennifer Granholm on the panel.

When will DataLoungers realize that nobody gives a shit about Rosie O'Donnell anymore? Her time has come and gone.

[quote] Anderson at least had his funny little giggle fits and could have fun with low brow entertainment like The Real Housewives and Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo.

Giggle fits. The true mark of a great journalist.

by Anonymousreply 4212/12/2012

r40, Anderson is getting neither mine, OR my man's jobs at CNN. Boop!

by Anonymousreply 4312/12/2012

CNN's dead and dying and Anderson don't give a fuck about your "job" Don. Blop!

by Anonymousreply 4412/12/2012

[quote]If Zucker is smart, he'll start a new daytime talk/news show with 4 women. Think "The View" but with more current topics and fewer guests. He should put Rosie O'Donnell and Jennifer Granholm on the panel.

I have an idea for a new cable channel! I'd call it the KaffeeKlatch Network, and it would be nothing but one show after another of four women sitting on a couch and gassing on about one vapid topic after another!

Rosie O'Donnell could have a show all to herself and play all four women at once!

by Anonymousreply 4512/12/2012

Whatever gurl. He better get out there are start peddling them Latino mens he keeps in his house to the highest bidder. Ask Kelly Ripa for a loan!

by Anonymousreply 4612/12/2012

Dammit, R32 beat me to it.

by Anonymousreply 4712/12/2012

At least we know that R37 doesn't believe one word in the NY Post story.

by Anonymousreply 4812/12/2012

I have no inside info but I think Don Lemon is finished as well.

by Anonymousreply 4912/12/2012

I still have a job!

by Anonymousreply 5012/12/2012

R44 you sure are obsessed with hating Don Lemon.

Incredibly pathetic that your life is that empty.

by Anonymousreply 5112/12/2012

Wait - you guys all know Don Lemon is single and no longer dating Ben Tinker, right?

by Anonymousreply 5212/12/2012

[quote]I would not be surprised if Anderson leaves CNN once his contract is up.

They'll dump him long before that contract is up.

by Anonymousreply 5312/13/2012

Anderson Cooper's 360 CNN show is one of the very best news and interview shows on TV.

It is for people who want substance, investigation of issues, and in-depth interviews on current issues.

Shows of substance like Anderson's 360 do not need to garner big ratings. They just need to continue providing substance which Anderson's show does very well.

Anderson also does excellent commentary and providing of knowledge about the issues, and does excellent interviewing about complicated issues.

by Anonymousreply 5512/13/2012

R55 = Gloria Vanderbilt

by Anonymousreply 5612/13/2012

See gays.....this is why I didn't want to come out!!! I lost 2 shows!!!

by Anonymousreply 5812/13/2012

The daytime show was already in trouble before he came out, and the ratings went up a bit after he came did. It just wasn't enough, or sustained, to keep the show from being cancelled. He wasn't that good in that format, or maybe he needed a female cohost.

I'm not familiar with his CNN show, but he's been on CNN a long time and had a good run. Which isn't necessarily over, this is all just rumors.

by Anonymousreply 5912/13/2012

I don't get the obsessive love/hate factions for Anderson Cooper. I like him well enough but I don't understand how he could garner that much emotion in random members of the viewing public.

by Anonymousreply 6012/13/2012

R54 if you were able to understand the trolldar function, you would clearly see that I did not make the other posters. You, however, have made several bashing Lemon.

Get.over.it.

by Anonymousreply 6112/13/2012

Get over it yourself, I'm not interested in Don Lemon period, I'm interested in the people (or person) here who's always criticizing Anderson.

by Anonymousreply 6212/13/2012

Ann? Shitty little Ann?

by Anonymousreply 6312/13/2012

According to someone on tumblr who went to the daytime show AC says this about the Ann Curry rumor:

[quote]I asked Anderson about it at the taping I went to today, and he said it was “totally made up.” So no worries. :)

by Anonymousreply 6412/13/2012

Yep, the Curry fangirls have delusions of grandeur, thinking she'll be vaulted to superstardom any day now.

by Anonymousreply 6512/13/2012

Actually, I was also at the taping of Anderson's show which will air on Monday (he is now enroute to London for 60 Minutes) and he gave a more elaborate answer in which he pointed out the NY Post is owned by NewsCorp, which also owns Foxnews.

Those of you who were among the multitudes (literally) who were obsessed with his washing his jeans once every 6 months will find the first 15 minutes amusing.

That being said, Anderson, who is definitely started to get quite the middle-aged spread around his middle remains charming, handsome and beyond fabulous.

by Anonymousreply 6612/13/2012

He will be gone within the next three months, but that's neither here nor there.

by Anonymousreply 6712/13/2012

It's about time cable news gets their own "Tammy Grimes Show."

by Anonymousreply 6812/13/2012

It will be a wonderful day when and if Zucker fires Anderson's no ratings getting ass. He is a pompous poseur who deserves to be back on Channel 1 and not on any major news outlet.

by Anonymousreply 6912/13/2012

[quote]I suspect every negative comment about AC including R53 is from YOU.

After checking the ISP codex signal, it appears that you're totally correct, R54.

by Anonymousreply 7012/14/2012

R69, when a show such as Anderson Cooper's 360 on CNN has substance and excellent investigation of and exploration of the issues along with superb interviewing, the show does not need to get high ratings.

The show only needs to continue providing substance and excellence which 360 does.

by Anonymousreply 7112/14/2012

R69, have you spoken to your mental health specialist lately? I'm guessing no.

by Anonymousreply 7212/14/2012

[quote]That being said, Anderson, who is definitely started to get quite the middle-aged spread around his middle remains charming, handsome and beyond fabulous.

THIS.

by Anonymousreply 7312/14/2012

He's more charming and fabulous since he came out. I like him a lot now.

by Anonymousreply 7412/14/2012

R70 you can do that? Cool. And I totally agree with R66, R71, R73, and R74.

And Ann who? Yeah right. I'll believe it when I see it.

by Anonymousreply 7512/14/2012

Ann Curry thinks Pope Benedict hung the mood. I can't wait to see her drooling over him on telly again.

Ann Curry is not all that smart.

by Anonymousreply 7612/14/2012

R71 CNN is not PBS. People are not tuning into his show, so something needs to change. He is currently THIRD in the ratings at 8 PM. And he is dangerously close to slipping to FOURTH after Nancy Grace.

All cable networks bottom line is to make money. They have staff to pay. They need jobs. Low ratings does not pay salaries.

AC has a responsibility to his staff for their pay checks.

This is the news business. BUSINESS

If he is not concerned about the business aspect of cable news, then he should go to PBS to do they type of show he wants to do.

But PBS means less resources, lower pay, a lower profile.

by Anonymousreply 7712/14/2012

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

by Anonymousreply 7812/14/2012

Because you had no competion Aaron, now take your smirk and go back to teaching that class, or whatever it is you are doing, OK, sweetie?

by Anonymousreply 7912/14/2012

That's PROFESSOR Aaron Brown to you.

I went into academia after I was pushed off the air by the man who drove CNN into the ground. (Among his other decisions: Piers Morgan.)

Note that I did not try—and fail—to be the next Rachael Ray or Dr. Oz.

by Anonymousreply 8012/14/2012

R77, you are wrong. Very wrong. That is all that needs to be said.

by Anonymousreply 8112/14/2012

R81 are you saying that Cable News Networks are not in the business to make money?

That you could have the highest quality TV show on the air, but if it is not generating ad revenue, that is okay?

by Anonymousreply 8212/14/2012

If Aaron Brown's so great, he would've gotten another news gig right after CNN, but he didn't. Nobody cares about him these days except the few people who like to use him against AC.

by Anonymousreply 8312/14/2012

Well R81 ?

Are TV networks in the business of making money or not?

by Anonymousreply 8412/15/2012

Because Jeff Zucker knows how to make a network successful...
