by Anonymousreply 112/11/2012

CNN is rebroadcasting KOIN's live coverage. They're talking to a HOT Clackamas County sheriff's deputy.

by Anonymousreply 212/11/2012

Not in Portland -- the mall is in Clackamas, approx 11 miles SE of downtown Portland.

by Anonymousreply 312/11/2012

Testosterone ape running amok. As per usual. Men are mentally unstable.

by Anonymousreply 412/11/2012

Did the shooter use fair trade ammunition?

by Anonymousreply 512/11/2012

let's all trolldar r4 so why know when the bitter dyke posts other places!!!!

by Anonymousreply 612/11/2012

Guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people.

by Anonymousreply 712/11/2012

Assault weapons that shoot many rounds per trigger squeeze.

by Anonymousreply 812/11/2012

I'm a man and I agree with r4.

Until this culture seriously examines the reason men are so violent -- and why we as a culture encourage it -- tragic events like this shooting will continue to happen.

by Anonymousreply 912/11/2012

A penny saved is a penny earned.

by Anonymousreply 1012/11/2012

Come on, who else read Crackamas?

by Anonymousreply 1112/11/2012

North Korea shot a missile over Japan.

by Anonymousreply 1212/11/2012

What number mass shooting is this now this year? If Obama doesn't introduce gun control laws within the next year or so, I am going to be pissed.

by Anonymousreply 1312/11/2012

Fun fact! Clackamas Town Center (the mall in question) is home to the ice skating rink where Tonya Harding learned how to skate.

by Anonymousreply 1412/11/2012

Two victims and the shooter are dead. One serious injury-per CNN. I wonder if these type of shootings happened before we has malls, round the clock news, and instant fame? Did people shoot at crowds in breadlines or Levittown or on the Vegas strip? Is there any real cause outside of stupidity, retarded gun policies , and slutty fame?

by Anonymousreply 1512/11/2012

Men are violent becuse women like violent men, but also powerful, wealthy men, and wealth and power are easier for violent men to acquire.

Women like to blame men for casuing eating disorders with their "unrealistic expectations," so this is just fair play.

by Anonymousreply 1612/11/2012

Gee. I wonder why men might be more violent than women. I wonder? Could there be some reason why men might have some desire or urge, however misguided and unnecessary in today's modern world, to act violently? I wonder...

Another Kohl's employee of his meds?

by Anonymousreply 1812/11/2012

ENOUGH with the coverage already. Come back on when there is an update. We're at the point where they are interviewing people who once went to a mall.

by Anonymousreply 1912/11/2012

Clear as mud 17.

by Anonymousreply 2012/11/2012

.... and this is why I'll be doing all of my shopping online......

by Anonymousreply 2112/11/2012

Is nothing sacred anymore? This kind of thing is supposed to happen on Black Friday, people!

by Anonymousreply 2212/11/2012

[quote]Not in Portland -- the mall is in Clackamas, approx 11 miles SE of downtown Portland.

There's still crazed shooters in your metro area. Portland's not getting off the hook that easy.

by Anonymousreply 2312/11/2012

Sounds like Santa was the target.

by Anonymousreply 2412/11/2012

Were Shane Stant or jeff Gillooly in the area?

by Anonymousreply 2512/11/2012

I live a few miles away from the mall (on the OTHER side of the freeway, thank you), and it is a total clusterfuck out there. Local news stations are all creaming their pants over this, which is sad and disgusting. Hey, it's over now - the asshole shooter committed suicide and everybody's now being evacuated. Stop interviewing people who were pissed that they couldn't get into Macaroni Grill for dinner.

That mall is and has always been a cesspool - Tonya Harding notwithstanding - and it was only a matter of time until something like this happened there. Whomever mis-read Clackamas as "Crackamas" has got it about right.

Mrs. Betty Bowers has the gift of prophesy:

by Anonymousreply 2712/11/2012

These men have to accept the fact that they're rejects in women's eyes. Some men just are and no one amount of killing sprees will change that. But men as usual, think if they feel hurt, the rest of the world has to as well.

by Anonymousreply 2812/11/2012

Please do, asshole [r6]. Maybe you also have a good explanation why almost 100 percent of mass killers are men? But, oh no, that by no means makes men look bad, as a matter of fact, it must be women's fault? Idiot.

by Anonymousreply 2912/11/2012

Very DL-like to try to pin this on women, but the fact is, men are violent whether women are there or not. In societies where there is an imbalance in the ratio between the sexes, violent crime tends to spiral upwards. In both China and India, there is a near complete correlation between the growth of violent crime and those cities and provinces where the sex ratio is worst. This suggests that the presence of women actually has a civilizing influence on men, rather than the opposite.

by Anonymousreply 3012/11/2012

What happened??

by Anonymousreply 3112/11/2012

There was also a mall shooting in Atlanta. Gunman was wearing black like the Oregon shooter. One dead. I have this fear that a lot of these crazy right wingers are so angry about the election results that they're coordinating across the country and will start taking people out. I hope that's not the case.

December 12, 2012, 6:04 a.m.

Clackamas County authorities are expected to release the identity this morning of a masked gunman who stormed into a Portland-area shopping mall, killing two people and seriously wounding another before shooting himself.

Meanwhile, a local hospital has released the name and condition of the lone survivor.

Mirabai Vogt, a spokeswoman for Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland, told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday that the shooting victim was in serious condition. Local media reported Wednesday morning that OHSU had identified the survivor as 15-year-old Kristina Shevchenko. The teenager remained in serious condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Some managed to flee into the crowded, chaotic parking lot, while others hid inside the mall. Hours later, authorities were clearing the 185-store mall room by room. More than 10,000 shoppers were inside when the rampage began, authorities said.

The Clackamas Town Center, site of the shooting rampage, was to remain closed during the investigation. At a Tuesday night news conference, Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts said, “The mall’s supposed to be a place where we can all take our families.

"These things aren’t supposed to happen."

A woman who said she was a family friend of the victim tweeted Tuesday night, "Kristina (15) is in stable condition. Going into ohsu surgery due to a shot in the upper right chest cavity. Please pray."

Obviously this had to do with 12-12-12.

Police today identified a 22-year-old Oregon City man as the killer who strolled into the Clackamas Town Center shopping mall Tuesday and opened fire, killing two people and seriously wounding a third.

Jacob Tyler Roberts, 22, was found dead inside the mall, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot. Authorities have not offered a motive, saying that Roberts appeared to have fired randomly as he made his way through the mall.

Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts said the gunman used AR-15 rifle that was stolen earlier in the day from an associate. He did not know how many shots were fired, although he carried several magazines.

The first 9-1-1 calls from the mall came about 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, when Roberts, wearing a "Jason"-style hockey mask, entered the mall through Macy's department store. As the sound of rapid gunfire rang out, mall personnel rushed out the door, urging shoppers to leave.

Authorities estimated that 10,000 workers and shoppers were at the Town Center when the shooting began, and the lock-down and evacuation was a massive logistical undertaking.

An estimated 100 law enforcement personnel descended on the mall, including local police, state troopers and four tactical weapons teams, backed by members of the FBI and Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Clackamas Fire District 1 dispatched 22 emergency vehicles. A fleet of ambulances arrived.

Only hours later did it become clear that the number of casualties was fewer than initially feared.

The shopping mall will remain closed today, and bus and light-rail service is disrupted. Authorities said belongings left behind during Tuesday's evacuation will be securely held until the mall reopens.
