The Smartest State in the Union

Which state is the smartest state in the union?

(I'm referring to their voters. It's not enough that a given state happens to regularly color blue for presidential elections.)

Kinda like asking: what's the least offensive odor in an outhouse.

If you're using SAT scores as the criteria, it's Vermont.

by Anonymousreply 212/06/2012

Agree with R2. I'll go with Vermont.

Washington State voters legalized gay marriage and marijuana so I'd have to say Washington. The New England states are usually on the top of the "best educated" states lists, Connecticut and Massachusetts mostly.

Well, right now I'm in Florida.

I would say Oregon, but outside the cities, the IQ goes down to the double digits.

Colorado has the highest percentage of college graduates (not that that means much).

Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont

Everyone knows the answer to this one.

Alaska. They are the smartest people in the nation. They talk shit about big government but depend on it like crazy--and no one says "fuck you" and cuts them off.

And let's face, any state that could have picked Sarah Palin clearly has something going for it.

Vermont! Greatest margin of victory for President Obama of any state. Won 66% of the vote.

R17, we can't even joke about that so long as we have Bachman in office.

by Anonymousreply 2112/06/2012

Massachusetts, of course.

by Anonymousreply 2212/06/2012

Har har har, R14. The idiocy of DC's "best and brightest" is an international laughingstock.

by Anonymousreply 2312/07/2012

What are some new yet boring ways to stir up shit on DL? I know, competitive US state jingoism!
