A friend recently told me that this show was a campy mess. I was a kid when it came out and never saw it. What bare your favorite Models Inc episodes and characters? Should I watch it?

It barely lasted long enough to make an impression. It was good to see Linda Gray working, I guess.

Can't remember any, but when the show came out, people were laughing at how old the models looked and nicknamed the show "Model T Inc"
I was shocked to see how Carrie-Ann moss became the show's breakout star over the highly touted Cassidy Rae and Kylie Travis.

It was a spinoff from Melrose. Linda Gray played Amanda's mother.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||12/05/2012|
The only thing I remember about it was the story arc with Linda Gray on Melrose, which spun off the show. Other than that, I kind of recall it being hyped in the entertainment shows and magazines before it actually went on the air but I don't think I've ever seen even 5 minutes of a single episode.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||12/05/2012|
I was really excited to have Linda Grey back on TV. Then I saw the show. Just awful. Be glad you were a kid and never saw it.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||12/05/2012|
It's no Bare Essence.

"Paper Dolls" with a young Nicollette Sheridan and Morgan Fairchild was a short lived series and offers up a great cornucopia of '80's cliches. Brenda Vaccaro really chews up the screen as a stage Mom.

The show only really comes to life when Kylie Travis is in bitch mode. My favorite line of dialogue comes after she learns that the insipid Cassidy Rae character has reunited with her boyfriend after a misunderstanding. "Little Sarah will be spending all night down on her knees. Apologizing, I'm sure."
|by Anonymous||reply 9||12/05/2012|
Paper Dolls what what I was thinking about when I opened this thread, r8. Thanks for reminding me of the name.
I enjoyed that one. What even happened to Don Bowron? That is his only TV credit on imdb.

I watched the Models Inc pilot on Youtube. I forgot how much I loved this show. I was maybe 13 or 14 when it came out but remember a couple of times it was better than Melrose Place. I remember Aaron Spelling was afraid to make the lead girl(Cassidy RAE) black because she was supposed to have some sort of affair and lets face it, he was pretty much racist. They eventually got a black chick later on though.

I actually liked Models Inc., is it on Hulu +?
|by Anonymous||reply 12||07/29/2014|
Which one of you bitches is my mother.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||07/29/2014|
Paper Dolls was awesome.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||07/29/2014|
Cassidy Rae was the most implausible "model" since Charlene Tilton.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||07/29/2014|
Models, Inc. is such a generic name for a modeling agency. Why couldn't they come up with something more creative? It's the equivalent of naming a sporting goods store Sports, Inc.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||07/29/2014|
R8, what does that have to do with Models Inc. ?
It ended on a cliffhanger I believe.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||07/29/2014|
It ran for a summer and then a full season.
The summer season was amazing and centered around who murdered Stephanie Romanov's character. It had really strong characterization and (like Melrose) would just throw in the craziest shit.
The full season was absolute shit. They started jettisoning off characters and added boring-assed Emma Samms as a romantic rival to Romanov's lost interest. Yes, Romanov returned alive as a new character who just looked a lot like her old character.
The strongest and most likable characters were the ones played by Kylie Travis and Carrie-Ann Moss.

OP, you need new friends.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||07/30/2014|
Paper Dolls was a lot better. No one but me and R14 and R8 watched it though, and it was promptly canceled.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||07/30/2014|
Wasn't Paper Dolls a TV movie first? I remember Daryll Hannah played a Brooke Shields type teen star/model and Joan Hackett was her mother.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||07/30/2014|
Models Inc. was a great Melrose spin off. I also like The Heights.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||07/30/2014|
Cassidy Rae was so cute. Kylie Travis looked like she had a bad face transplant. Most of the other models were about forty six.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||07/30/2014|
Friends and I in the biz used to watch this and play drinking games with the dialogue. But we called it "Models, Stink"
It was truly atrocious. A donkey could write better dialogue.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||07/30/2014|
R24, donkeys can't write, period. First of all, they have hoofs. Secondly, they most definitely don't understand the concept of language or writing. In fact, humans are probably the only beings who do.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||07/30/2014|
Starring some of the most beautiful women in the world... and Linda Gray.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||07/30/2014|
R25, thank you for making my point.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||07/30/2014|
They brought on Emma Samms to become the Heather Locklear of Models Inc. Needless to say unlike Heather she further sunk the show instead of saving it.
It was a mess. Saying that it was a campy mess implies it was some guilty pleasure. It wasn't. It made Dynasty look like Shakespeare in comparison!
|by Anonymous||reply 28||07/30/2014|
Emma in Models Inc
|by Anonymous||reply 29||07/30/2014|
Wasn't the whole premise based on the new model some young girl who was no where near a model..she had fat thighs.
Oh but the show gave us Carrie Ann Moss..
|by Anonymous||reply 30||07/30/2014|
I stopped watching when Emma Samms brought in a bunch of hard new girls and turned the agency into a high-class escort service. Or something like that.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||07/30/2014|
The alternative ending
|by Anonymous||reply 32||07/30/2014|
OMG I remember Models, Inc! It aired on Fox. I also remember that silly made for television movie, "Model By Day" with Famke Janssen. Its so hard to believe that so few models are known by name these days.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||07/30/2014|
I would watch Emma in anything, especially in her prime. Mercy, she was gorgeous! I read a poster on IMDb(I think) who said she made a fantastic bitch on M INC, so I checked out what I could online. Alas, 'twasn't so. But she was beautiful.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||07/30/2014|
Emma was gorgeous and she had amazing hair. She also managed to slim down from her GH days.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||07/30/2014|
I still recall with awe her teddy scene on DYNASTY. She was built like a brick shithouse. Yes, I'm 100 % gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||07/30/2014|
Main problem with the show was the lackluster cast and storylines ..... I remember Jonathan Schaech as the stalker of that one model.
I'm awaiting the inevitable 'Which did you prefer ... Models Inc or Paper Dolls ? thread.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||07/30/2014|
I remember reading in Aaron Spelling's biography that they wanted Joan Collins as the lead, but she was "unavailable."
|by Anonymous||reply 38||08/03/2014|
But was Linda Gray even "the lead" ? I don't remember Hilary having a storyline , except when Grayson bought into Models Inc.
More likely Joan Collins turned it down because they wouldn't let her play the newest hot top model.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||08/03/2014|
Does anyone remember "Central Park West"?
|by Anonymous||reply 40||08/03/2014|
Yes R40 ....first exposure to hot young John Barrowman. Unfortunately, they had to admit defeat mid season and totally revamp it bringing on Raquel Welch and Delta Burke's husband (Gerald McRaney ???). Still didn't work.
I think they killed someone off when the revamp episodes starting airing ...was it Mariel Hemingway's character ?? Her character's husband was hot too.
