When Jimmy Carter Dies

are the Repugs going to be on their best behavior? Is the media going to stop acting like a bunch of assholes towards him? Is his eulogy going to include, "despite his failures..."?

Jimmy Carter's death is going to be cringe-worthy to me, not because I think the man was a bad president or an awful person, but just having to hear a possible summary of all the shit that was waged against him and the Dems for decades by commentators all over again. It's going to be maddening if they go that route. At least Jimmy has Habitat For Humanity on his side. They can't manipulate that one. It's amazing how long he's hung on for. He's 88 now.

Pretty soon it's probably going to be just Clinton and Bush Jr. who are still alive in the ex-presidents department. I really can't wait until the direct relics of the Reagan years are dead: George HW, Babs, and the ultimate: Nancy Reagan.

Repugs are no longer going to have Jimmy Carter to kick around anymore. Repugs are going to have to deal with the image of George W. for decades to come, or at least as long as he's still alive. He's the Right's Jimmy Carter, and this time he's the very definition of that that they gave Jimmy Carter when it comes to failed presidencies.

The politicians will probably behave themselves, but the pundits most certainly will not.

How is his health? Anyone know?

I'm with R1. You won't hear a word out of any elected politician's mouth, but Limbaugh, Beck and Cunter will undoubtedly say despicable shit.

Jimmy Carter has become a fabulous human being. His main problem as president was that he spoke the truth. People in this country generally do not like to hear the truth, especially if it isn't pleasant. They would much rather be told sunny lies. Like Al Gore, much of what Jimmy Carter warned about back then has come to pass. If he weren't such a gentleman, he could indeed have the last laugh.

Didn't he bring all the fundies into the White House though? Wasn't he the one who started that shit?

Considering some of his recent statements dementia has begun.

H. Dubya has been in the hospital since last week with pneumonia.

It will be a big deal, with former presidents, First ladies and children of former presidents there.

That's what happened for Ronald Reagan, Lady Bird Johnson and Gerald Ford. They were better liked by other politicians that Carter, but the standard has been set.

Carter may be a fabulous human being, but his political skill as president were the worst by a Democrat since Grover Cleveland.

GOP politicians will show the decorum that is required at such times, until the day after the funeral. Then they'll start in.
