My secret to a happy marriage in Hollywood, by adoring husband of 16 years Hugh Jackman

Jealous, bitches?

"Hugh Jackman has revealed his secret to a happy marriage in Hollywood. The 44-year-old actor, who married actress-and-director Deborra-Lee Furness, 56, in 1996, never spends more than two weeks apart from his wife.

The Les Miserables star was told by his spouse before they wed that it was important they saw one another regularly, so they wouldn't drift apart and live separate existences.

He explained: 'Well Deb, when I met her had done 20 movies. She said, "Hugh, we're never going to be away from each other for more than two weeks". I said, "Great, why?" She said, "I've just been on too many movies, and I see people drift apart."

'People think you're going to fall in love with your leading lady and have an affair, it's not always that.

'It's just you get used to living apart and you get used to living a life on your own ... then when you hit a rocky patch you're not together, you're already living your own life, you're on location, an all of a sudden that person over there looks fantastic.'

In an interview with The Grill Team on Australian radio station Triple M 104.9FM, he said: 'We've got the kids settled into school here which is tough, somehow we came back and settled straight in, the movie was ready to go, it's been the best movie experience so somehow that takes the pressure off.

'I spent a lot of time with my dad who is not well, when you're with one of your parents who you know is not going to get better you make the most of every moment.

'So having that, and the kids settled and Deb was really happy to be here, she always loves it here ... I'm never happier than when I'm here, I swim in the ocean every morning, and my best friends are here, and even though I have a blessed life and a lucky life I come back here and I love it.'"

Exactly!

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 111/24/2012

Hugh Jackman comes off as a nice guy which is why if he's really gay this preposterous lie about his marriage is really sickening.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 211/24/2012

Has it ever occurred to you guys that Hugh really does love his wife? Assuming he is indeed gay or bi or whatever, enjoying sex with men doesn't mean you can't intensely love a woman.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 311/24/2012

Fraus want to believe that a gorgeous guy like him is really into her.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 411/24/2012

I actually think Debora is very sexy and attractive - she's 56, for fuck's sake! Marriage melds into something other than sex after a while anyhow - perhaps they really do enjoy spending time with each other.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 511/24/2012

Who wouldn't want all of the perks of heterosexual privilege and all of the fun of gay sex? Sounds like the life to me. No morals or ethics, but sure, a great life.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 611/24/2012

Hugh has a huge investment in this marriage, i.e., his entire career. He would not be starring in the new Les Miz movie if he was out and proud. So of course he is selling this marriage for all it's (not) worth.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 711/24/2012

They seem like one of those Cole and Linda Porter couples who love each other in spite of hubby's cockgobbling. If it works for them, whatever.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 811/24/2012

I believe they love each other. They are best friends. He fucks her once in a while. But he is enjoying sex with men.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 911/24/2012

This is not the 1950's when poeple were totally naive about homosexuality and the arrangement that gay men participated in to hide their love of peen.

People are on to Hugh. I don't any women who think he is straight.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1011/24/2012

The secret is she turns the other way when he is banging young studs.

It's working for the Travolta's as well.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1111/24/2012

R3= pathetic closet case or frau married to 'ex-gay'.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1211/24/2012

Love Hugh but I think he has some mommy issues. His mum left the family when he was 8 to go back to England. She broke the news by telegram. It sounds like he's on "good" terms with her now but jeez. (She was suffering from depression and other issues; it was better for her to leave than chop up her kids or something horrible.) I think I also remember reading that his dad (who is in poor health now) was a religious fundie.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1311/24/2012

He's probably not gay.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1411/24/2012

He's not gay if he's banging her, believe you me.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1511/24/2012

The other secret is to find a wife who ignores it when you fuck men.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1611/24/2012

Hasn't Kelly Preston also repeatedly talked about her secrets to a happy marriage?

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1711/24/2012

r8 and r9 are right. Hugh's s a good person, and a good father. There are very few genuinely good people in this industry, and Hugh is one of them. If his only indiscretion and crime is an arrangement with his wife (whom he does seem to abundantly adore and love) because he may be queer, than so be it. There are bigger assholes and liars in the entertainment industry that deserve scorn.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1811/24/2012

I don't understand the point to this, other than to tap down rumors. He's been outed by a couple of people, and no one really seems to care. Why keep this nonsense going? He's insanely rich, and certainly never has to worry about working. It just shows you the incredible dysfunction of the closeted mindset.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 1911/24/2012

Hugh is a good guy. He has mum issues but that's par for the course with his mum leaving at such a young age. His wife is atractive for such an old bag. I doubt it's bearding...maybe I'll ask David Geffen or Sandy Gallin AKA the bad plastic surgery Botox queens if they know Hughie.....

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 2011/24/2012

I think it's possible for him (if he's gay) to live with her all this time and have developed a sort of love of her. The love of companionship, friendship, support. I've known gay men who were married to the same woman for 50+ years. They simply grew too comfortable with each other to do anything different.

Elsa Lanchester was married to Charles Laughton for decades and she knew he adored cock the whole time, but she dealt with it, as did he. I don't know if she knew about his penchant for eating shit sandwiches, but that's another story altogether.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 2111/24/2012

WHAT? Hahaha, never heard that before. I've got to google this.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 2211/24/2012

He's just ridiculously talented, full of personality, and gorgeous. I don't care if he likes goats. I prefer he not talk about his wife and marriage SO much, so I ignore his press.

I'd give anything to dance the jitterbug and waltz with him.

Mmmmmm

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 2311/24/2012

[quote]Assuming he is indeed gay or bi or whatever, enjoying sex with men doesn't mean you can't intensely love a woman

True but this is a moot point if the woman in question is a lesbian.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 2411/24/2012

Don't forget that Peter Allen was married to Liza Minnelli for several years.

None of us know the specifics of their relationship. But there have always been bisexual men who have sex with men, but prefer the company of women.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 2611/24/2012

I can't see Hugh ever getting into a tabloid kerfuffle because of escorts/tricks/hoes running to the press a la Travolta. He publicly thanked his male assistant and that was the most we got about any "relationship" between them. He is too careful and smart to slip up.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 2711/24/2012

Hugh is a genuinely nice guy. He once tried to pick up my sisters then-boyfriend (handsome blond surfer type) at a pub in Brisbane about ten years ago. DL was never Miss Universe but she looks very rough these days. The bad plastic surgery has done her no favors. Unlike Russell Crowe's wife, she seems to revel in being 'Mrs Superstar' and can be a bit obnoxious about it at times. Otherwise, whatever arrangement she and Hugh have seems to work well for them.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 2811/24/2012

I really get annoyed with those of us who refer to gay men who claim to sleep with women, as being bisexual. Most of them are ugly people to the core, some a little less ugly like Hugh Jackman, if his wife really knows he's gay.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 2911/24/2012

R29 well if random posters on DL know he's gay then I'm sure his wife also knows he's gay or she's just really stupid. I kind of get why he wouldn't come out. He still has potential to be cast as a romantic lead and coming out would hurt his career. But Tom Cruise, I mean no one's ever going to want to kiss him in a movie so why doesn't he just come clean already? It may be the 21st century but you can't say that coming out doesn't hurt careers. It does for sure. The masses still aren't accepting.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3011/24/2012

For years, the Jackman's were shaving five years off of Deb's age, and only recently admitted that she was born in 1955 and not 1960. She's thirteen years older than Hugh, almost an entire generation.

Hugh's mother not only left her family behind when she went to England, she had another child by a man she hooked up with there.

On Hugh's edition if "Inside the Actors Studio", Deb, Mum and John Palermo sat next to each other in the front row. Hugh went out of his way on the broadcast to express his love for his mother, even defending her leaving the family.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3111/24/2012

Their kids are adorable.

Oh, and I heard from another Aussie that DLF may bee a bit older than she claims.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3211/24/2012

[quote] why doesn't he just come clean already?

And admit that his public life has been a lie (assuming it is...)?

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3311/24/2012

R33 well my question wasn't really serious. I know he'll never do it. I have zero respect for the man. Maybe I'd have an iota of respect if he came out.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3411/24/2012

The difference between gay men and straight men, apparently, is that straight men will scornfully react to the thought of sex with men, but gay men love to fuck women.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3511/24/2012

[quote]Don't forget that Peter Allen was married to Liza Minnelli for several years. None of us know the specifics of their relationship.

But you know it was SHIMPLY FWABULOUS!!!

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3611/24/2012

[quote]I really get annoyed with those of us who refer to gay men who claim to sleep with women, as being bisexual.

Is there anything more tiresome than a queen who can't wrap their effete little mind around the idea of bisexuality?

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3711/24/2012

Out of everything posted on this thread so far, I find this comment to be the real surprise.

All I can say is, "why, why, and why?"

That's a whole lot of crazy going on in Hugh Jackman's life, and a whole lot of secrets, as well.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3811/24/2012

So Hugh's mother left the family when he was very young, and then he goes and marries a woman 13 years older?

Somebody has MOMMY ISSUES!!

And I don't believe for a minute that Hugh and Deb have sex, otherwise they would have had some biological kids. However, all their kids are adopted. Their marriage is definitely an "arrangement" that works for everybody.

As for Jackman not turning into an ugly Travolta-type outing, I think it's because Jackman can be monogamous, whereas Travolta's a whore.

Jackman was committed to Palermo, but something went wrong there. So I wouldn't be surprised if Hugh finds another very discreet boyfriend somewhere down the line, who is cool with the wife, cool with the kids, and cool with having to live in the closet.

Then that guy will become Hugh's new "assistant."

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 3911/24/2012

The only thing that jars me about this whole thing is that John Palermo is the best he could do.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 4011/24/2012

r40

Best what? Piece of ass?

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 4111/24/2012

Why did Hugh Jackman and John Palermo end their marriage/commitment/relationship? What went so hideously wrong? I think maybe John cheated on Hugh.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 4211/24/2012

I found it amusing that Hugh and John Palermo named their now defunct production company "Seed Productions".

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 4311/24/2012

[quote]Hugh went out of his way on the broadcast to express his love for his mother, even defending her leaving the family.

I watched a clip of him being interviewed on some morning news show the year before The Boy From Oz came out. It wasn't Actors Studio and there weren't any relatives present. The interviewer brought up the subject of his mother leaving at such a young age. And he did, indeed, defend her, explaining that she couldn't cope. The family had moved from England and he has a few older brothers. Issues with isolation and depression. As he discussed this, he teared up and got choked up. It was sincere. It was so interesting to watch. He had comapassion for her situation, which is remarkable IMO, yet still he's still obviously affected. I guess this compassion or empathy is part of being a nice person. I commend him for that. I'd probably be bitter.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 4411/24/2012

And so the push officially begins for Hugh Jackman's one chance at an Oscar.

Too bad an actual talent like DDL will take it from him.

by Deborra-Lee Furnessreply 4511/24/2012

On "Inside the Actors Studio", Hugh said the reason why his mother left Australia was to care for her terminally ill mother in England.

Didn't know his father is so ill . . . he appeared to be the one solid element in Hugh's early life, always very supportive.
