What was the last mainstream camp classic?

Sex and the City.

After Sunday, it's going to be Liz and Dick. I can't wait for this one.

Sex and the City 2

Agree with r3

"The Paper Boy". Wait a year and it'll be on a double bill with "Polyester". It will actually cost McConnaughey the Oscar because he basically plays the same character as his much-lauded turn in "Killer Joe"- only this time not so good. Nicole dusts off her "To Die For" character, 15 years and bigger lips later. Zac Efron struggles as usual to portray a human.
Lee Daniels needs to do another raw ghetto story ASAP to redeem himself.

It will be what R2 stated as of Monday morning.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||11/24/2012|
Is "The Paper Boy" the one where Matthew McConaughey plays the killer who has the fried chicken fetish? That looked impossibly disgusting.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||11/24/2012|
R7, you're thinking of Killer Joe.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||11/24/2012|
The Wicker Man (the remake, not the original)
Actually, almost anything Nic Cage has done in the past ten years would qualify
|by Anonymous||reply 9||11/24/2012|
R3, I think a camp classic would have to be something you could sit through at least once.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||11/24/2012|
What was so campy about Black Swan? Some of you queens try so hard.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||11/24/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 12||11/24/2012|
I love Black Swan but there are a few unintentionally funny and way over the top scenes in it.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||11/25/2012|
does a camp classic have to be poorly received the first time out?
|by Anonymous||reply 14||11/25/2012|
Black Swan was a piece of shit that took itself way, way too seriously. It's still unbelievable that Natalie Portman won for that.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||11/25/2012|
OP, 'Black Swan' was certainly not camp. What the fuck? Portman was indeed good at it but she should not be a cunt in her Oscar Acceptance Speech. She should thank her dancing double Sarah Lane, she thanked all but her. That was nasty, greedy and unkind of her. What a pharisaic bitch she was in her speech...lol.

|by Anonymous||reply 18||11/25/2012|
what about Burlesque? or is that more of a crap classic?
|by Anonymous||reply 19||11/25/2012|
Wait until LES MISERABLES opens.
We have a new winnah!
|by Anonymous||reply 20||11/25/2012|

That is your stupid opinion.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||11/25/2012|
This Mean War.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||11/25/2012|
This is the majority of the world's opinion, R21. Put your head back in the toilet and flush.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||11/25/2012|
"A Dangerous Method". I walked in about 5 min. late to the film and Keira Knightley was already in fullblown Exorcist mode. A whole film based on a patient being cured by being whipped and fucked by Michael Fassbender.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||11/25/2012|
So that's why it made over 300 million dollars, was nominated for 5 oscars, including picture and director and Portman won every best actress award? Because the whole world thought it was a piece of shit?
|by Anonymous||reply 25||11/25/2012|
Anything based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks

If it's successful financially and won prizes, it MUST be a work of genius--everyone knows that!
|by Anonymous||reply 27||11/25/2012|
[quote] Sex and the City 2
A camp classic is something that is so bad that it's actually enjoyable to watch. SATC2 was just plain bad.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||11/25/2012|
The Canyons, based on any one of the trailers, is bound to be one.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||11/25/2012|
Was The Paperboy ever released? I didn't see it playing at my local theater.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||11/25/2012|
"The Paperboy" was so much released as it briefly escaped.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||11/25/2012|
Easy: Magic Mike
|by Anonymous||reply 32||11/25/2012|
Magic Mike was a great movie, you're wrong!
|by Anonymous||reply 33||11/25/2012|
People were turned off with the pee scene. Kidman might have got a backlash on that.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||11/25/2012|
Anything with Hillary Swank.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||11/25/2012|
I'm sure the makers of "Burlesque" were hoping it had camp value, but it doesn't. It's just boring.
Honestly, with so many weak nominees, I'm beginning to wonder if "Mommie Dearest" deserves the title. Has a single more recent film yielded half as many universally known quotes?
|by Anonymous||reply 36||11/25/2012|
r36 - I'd say "The Room" was the last big start-to-finish camp fest (if you define "camp" as an unintentional thing... I do).
