Man arrested for yelling 'Santa isn’t real' at Santa Parade

An hour into the city’s Santa Parade on Saturday, as Christmas-themed floats slowly travelled down the street, the voice of a man yelling at startled children that Santa Claus doesn’t exist was heard over the crowd.

Police arrested arrested a 24-year-old man around 6 p.m.

“It was pretty despicable that someone, during this time of the year, would tell kids Santa isn’t real — which of course we would argue,” Const. Steve Koopman said.

It's more despicable that we just arrested someone for telling the truth. Yes, I love kids and their myths and actively participate, but the bottom line is that it's a lie; dickhead or not, it was wrong for this guy to get arrested.

Give him the key to the city.

Oh my stars, that's simply horrible.

I friend of mine was arrested for yelling at Marie Osmond when she was in the Macy's parade. I don't recall his exact words, but he basically called her out for divorcing her husband.

Imagine yelling something similar in a Baptist church about another mythological being.

Now that's my kinda guy. Send him to Wal Mart and give him the store speaker.

If being a douchebag were illegal, Donald Trump would be serving multiple consecutive life sentences.

I think this happened in Kingston, Ontario.

by Anonymousreply 811/20/2012

Wouldn't that be a great time to teach children about something more important, like, freedom of speech?

R8, yep, this was in Canada. Also, the man was arrested for causing a disturbance by being drunk. I suppose that's why OP didn't post a link. . . . See below:

Yet that was the most sober moment of the day.

Someone is trying to discourage Americans from going to Canada.

Kingston, Ont is the home of a maximum security penitentiary so this is working out well for all concerned.

I'm guessing it's... Canadians?
