Rutgers, Maryland to join the Big Ten

Which will now have 14 schools.

by Anonymousreply 1511/20/2012

Big Ten. Fourteen schools.

That's just wrong.

by Anonymousreply 111/19/2012

10 was perfect. And I could accept 12. But 14 is just too old - I mean, many.

by Anonymousreply 211/20/2012

Good. I now say prayers that Missouri will be destroyed in every game it plays in the SEC. Welcome to the Big Time, you backstabbing Tigers!

by Anonymousreply 311/20/2012

Rutgers is gross.

by Anonymousreply 411/20/2012

And remember, it's not pronounced Ruckers.

by Anonymousreply 511/20/2012

I find it odd that those people won't change the name. They had no problem with the stupid "leaders" and "legends" business, but they still demand that it be called the Big Ten. I think it was originally called the Western Athletic Conference, historically. And Univ. of Chicago was part of it.

Of course not. A true New Jerseyan would put a glottal stop in between: Ruh*uglyglottalstop*ckerss.

Bravo, R2.

The ACC just got Syracuse, Pitt, and Notre Dame from the Big East. If Penn State jumped to the ACC from the Big Ten, mad at how they were punished by the conference over Sandusky, the ACC might be able to lock up the whole east coast. By doing this they flank the ACC with a tv network of higher quality.

by Anonymousreply 911/20/2012

The ACC is already the best conference. We don't need trash like Penn State infiltrating our ranks.

by Anonymousreply 1011/20/2012

A conference full of safety schools...nice!

by Anonymousreply 1111/20/2012

And it is just a matter of days before UConn accepts an ACC invite

Boise State and San Diego State are trying get the Mountain West to take them back because the Big East is a shinking ship. Louisville and Cincy will take any invite.

I'm pretty sure Yale includes a voucher for Northwestern in each rejection letter.

by Anonymousreply 1411/20/2012

I was pissed when Boston College joined the SEC. The Big East was a much better group of schools. The SEC is a conference of universities that their football teams aspire to be proud of.
