French and Saunders

Were Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders popular in the US? Aside from Saunders for Ab Fab.

Love their Fellini parody.

No.

Don't really think so, at least in the day the TV was the prime source of broadcast entertainment.

Comedy Central tried to re run some episodes of "French and Saunders" ages ago and it sadly did not work out well. I loved them and used to record them.

I know some PBS stations ran "The Vicar of Dibley" for a while. Haven't seen it lately.

No.

The only station in the USA which even runs the shows, occasionally, is WNED in Western NY.

French and Saunders (pre-pre-pre any other shit they did) were hilarious. I loved them since "Girls On Top." They have such a natural click for comedy. I wish the US had embraced them more.

They had at best a small cult following. One of the NYC independent stations ran the show late night Fridays, I believe.

Love them!

BBC America ran them for a while. I have the collection DVDs (Gentlemen Prefer French and Saunders, etc.). Still very, very funny.
